[KnicksMuse] Julius Randle will be eligible to sign a 4-Year, $190.2M extension this summer. He can be an unrestricted free agent in 2025. Should the Knicks offer Julius that deal this off-season?

No. That’s coming from a guy who defended Randle when half the sub and fanbase wanted to trade him.

With the new stricter salary cap tax rules, hopefully we stop seeing so many max contracts. There are only a handful of players that are truly worth a max contract in the league.

Why should we outbid ourselves . No one in the open market would give randle anything close to that .

  3. No, it’s time for a change. Good player but we need to move on.

  4. He isn’t worth that and everyone knows that. I would not be surprised if he gets packaged with Mitch and draft picks to get a superstar.

  5. i would consider outbidding the highest bidder as long as he would be at most the 2nd highest paid player on our team. but i wouldnt be proactive in giving an extension in that range.

  6. Yes! New TV contracts are coming in soon. That contract will be chump change in hindsight. We can control him as an asset and move him when the time comes. He got 3 all-star selections in our jersey, holding on to him isn’t the worst thing IF WE HAVE NO ONE TO REPLACE HIM WITH.

He will take a discount because he likes it here and we are the best team he could go to without taking the max.

No.. He deserves generational wealth money… But not NBA superstar max money.. I also don’t want to be paying a 33 and 34-year-old guy who plays physically the way he does, that much money. He’s a great guy. He’s a great locker room presence. And he’s a beast of a competitor. I just don’t think his body is going to hold up in his early thirties based on the way he plays.

Watch Pascal Siakam. Whatever he gets Jules will likely get.

Edit: Looking at Sabonis extension..some of y’all should start getting used to this number.

He’ll be 31, assuming he’s healthy at that point it seems like a no brainer. He’s a leader, he wants to be here, and he’s likely going to have or be near the top of every stat in Knicks history before he retires.

He’ll probably get around that – but whatever Leon does is probably the right move. It’s so nice to have a front office that I know will way more often than not make smart decisions.

Honestly I wonder what his trade value would be

I was never on the trade Randle train BUT if Bron Bron is going to be a free agent, might want to trade everything we got for Bridges and sign Lebron

    Run Brunson-Bridges-OG-Lebron-Mitch

    Duece-Donte-Hart-Precious-iHart

Win back to back and have Lebron retire a Knick with 45k points

Randle needs the Knicks as much as the Knicks need Randle. We got too many other guys they need to pay this offseason including a potential deal for a star.

Worry about Randle next offseason. Should be able to get him at a price that makes sense for the team.

No. As much as I respect Randle’s ability, we gotta be smart to build this roster out with the cap in mind. His impact can’t be understated, but we’re not winning a chip if the team is capped out after paying IHart and losing the bench to do so. Brunson has already proven he would deserve that money more, but even then its going to be tough building a competitive roster if we start slightly overpaying everyone.

Nah need to see how he does after injury

  16. badquarter

Non-story here. They’ll give him a max next year to keep the most flexibility until that point.

ain’t nothing being considered until he is healthy and we got through off season

Everyone needs to sacrifice and keep the band together for as long as possible
