Should Edey be a potential lottery pick in the NBA draft?

Should Edey be a potential lottery pick in the NBA draft?

Projected as a first round pick in this year’s NBA draft, TSN’s March Madness panel debate if Purdue’s Zach Edey is should be considered a lottery pick in the draft. The panel also discusses which team Edey would fit well with in the NBA.

  1. Raptors should draft him with the Pacers pick, in a perfect world they get him with the Detroit 31st pick they have, and can use the Pacers pick for a stretch forward to pair with Edey in the development timeline.

  2. Uh yeah, he can make the league with that height. Look at all the dominant bigs in the league, you need kids like him on the court and in development.

Or you gonna watch Jokic, Embiid and Wemby dominate your teams every year 😂.

  3. If you think Zach deserves to be a lottery pick the you are either Canadian or you went to Purdue. He'll certainly play in the league, but is he Boban or Taco ?

  4. Haters don't know basketball. This is a 7'4 who moves well and has unselfish work ethics. He is gonna get better.. maybe develope a reliable shot .. somewhere between a Shaq and Yao Ming.

  5. I think Zach Eddy will be a great backup coming off the bench. He could probably play around 15 minutes a game, maybe 20 on the right team depending on how he develops and he can take the load off of the team’s starting center.

  6. He was national player of the year last year as well, had to stay in school one more year because he was projected be undrafted.
a year later, now he's in lottery pick conversation?
but to be optimistic, Nikola Jokic draft profile was very similar, slow, can't shoot, hence he was late 2nd rounder… now look at him🤣
Anyway I would love to see Raptors pick him up!

  7. Of course he’ll end up in the NBA, he’s 7’4. Just don’t compare him with Wemby for now who can shoot from the outside and dribble like a point guard. Zack’s play right now is one dimensional as displayed in the finals last night. All his points except the free throws were from within the rim area but he’ll improve and get better.

  8. If Edey was Black the fake sports media would be gushing all day long. He’s a low post player, and that’s old school. Doesn’t shoot for 3’s? Who the hell shoots 3’s at 7’4 ? Ujiri Must draft him. A Toronto kid for the Raps? It’s a no brainer. Edey’s also great at passing off. Ya, the games changed but not necessarily for the better. Shooting 3’s all day long is a soft non compete game. As for the Raps big man now? Give me a break, Poetl is injured most of the time. You want to see Barnes shine, draft Edey and let him pass the ball off to the kid for easy baskets.

  9. Edey is an incredible Basketball talent with a great work ethic and character. How many peopleare like that in the NBA today????

  10. Zach shall learn from Kevon Looney (Zach is an upgraded Kevon in my opinion in term of size and post up offense). Agree. All Zach needs to do is be smart on defense, grab those rebounds, block 1-2 times per game, and score once a while, and he will be guaranteed for a position in any given team.

  11. Great takes! These 2 analysts are much smarter than all of those idiots talking heads that probably never even played basketball.

Zach Edey may or may not develop into a superstar, but considering his high basketball IQ and strong work ethic. I see him at the very least finishing his career as a long time starting center that could help most teams win like Brook Lopez or Marc Gasol.

  12. i see him being a good back up. then improving and getting better and getting bigger and stronger and he will become a true beast and prob a starter somewhere

  13. NBA really has changed.
Back then, undersized bigs are a cause of concern for Teams when selecting a big man.

Now being 7'4 is a problem for teams because most big men these days are smaller and quicker. Unless you're an alien prospect like Wemby.

IMO it boils down to how dedicated a team is to developing their young players and how disciplined that said player is.

  14. Jack nailed it…they keeping talking about his defence…but how do you guard him? If you double he kicks out to a 3 point shooter…the coaches are responsible to managing the defensive schemes and managing that risk

  15. Zach is a dominant big man inside the paint defensively and offensively. In the NBA he maybe Zubac- like of Clippers if not better. Given a right team position he can be a starter.
