Orlando Magic’s house of cards collapsing as the pressure rises

The Orlando Magic turned it over and got hounded by a Milwaukee Bucks team that knows how to elevate itself for the Playoffs. The Magic are still learning how to do this. But that may be the biggest flaw in their roster. A the playoff pressure rises, the Magic are consistently measuring short and losing what got them here in the process.

  1. when this team gets a legitmate backcourt thats when this team will make noise.. no more with this fultz harris nonsense and jalen suggs can not be the best guard on the team… once that gets addressed good things will come as long as they stay healthy

  2. You said: "if they lose friday, they no longer control their own destiny to make the playoffs"; shouldn't it be don't control their destiny to avoid the play-in? I'd say winning in the play-in to get into the playoffs constitutes controlling their own destiny.

  3. like i said multiple videos ago we'll be lucky to get a game against anyone except the pacers. we better avoid the play in or we're not seeing the playoffs this team not built yet

  4. Bottom line is we overachieved we have mastered beating 500 below teams we struggle against 500 above teams we are what you said we are playing in team…

  5. This is a serious choke job. No one on this team knows how to win. I am sooooo disappointed in Paulo, if you are truly a super star you drop 40 a game the last 3 games. Every other super star is carrying his team right now. He has not proven he can carry them. Stop passing to people who can't shoot and take over. This is very disappointing.

  6. Still want to see more Jett. So many guys look scared to shoot passing up open looks or just shooting with out confidence. Jett is a gun slinger. I'd rather see a confident miss than some of the possessions I'm seeing. A point guard would be nice, too.

  7. When are we going to talk about Paolo’s one dimensional offensive approach?

He’s terrible getting the ball on PnR when he rolls. He can’t get position in the paint.

He pounds the ball on the wing, allowing the defense to setup and double team.

He still waits too late to notice double teams and pass.

His defense is abysmal, especially off-ball.

Magic definitely need a ball handler, Suggs makes poor decisions when he runs the offense in half-court.

Lastly the team has no inside presence on either end of the court. WCJ is a waste of a roster position. He brings almost nothing to this roster.

And please don’t tell me Goga is the answer, he’s not. He’s more passive than WCJ, just taller with even less offense.

That said, I’m happy with the team’s progress this season. We have more confidence in Mosely as a coach. With a better roster I think he can do more.

Let’s see if the FO does their job this offseason.

  8. It's like they're afraid of the spotlight. Either that, or their way of playing really does take it out of them. Probably that if we look at this pattern over the whole season. Their big winning streaks usually had their best defense but it eventually drags on the team if or rather when they succumb to injury. Then the lineups change along with the chemistry until it is disrupted again upon the return of players.

But then they have these (IMHO far too long) periods of treading water before going on a another streak. It's the consistency, really isn't it? And it's hard to have consistency when everything is constantly pushed off kilter. It's as if they're beginning to understand that conservation of energy is actually important in this league and that perhaps they need to learn how to employ it otherwise the lack of energy and endurance are leading to simple errors that are constantly made by a tired team.

And yet we're asking them to not just compete but win 4 out of 7 games? We'd be hard pressed to do that normally never mind against the exact same opponent. That'll be a shock to the system, but I guess I can't wait? 🥴

  9. Hoping for 6th to avoid Miami. Other than that Monk and Dlo might be nice although I'd prefer Mikael Bridges if we could pry him away from the Nets. I believe they will have a fire sale at the end of the year. Everyone but P5, Franz and maybe Suggs should be on the table.

  10. You could have 34.2 MPG 20.6 PPG 17 FGA 6.5 RPG 5.9 APG Cole with just as many steals and blocks as Franz and Paolo and fewer turnovers than Paolo anytime you want.

It will be your only real option as soon as the front office wakes up and makes the doot dado coach hold the frontcourt players to the same defensive standard that it holds their backcourt to and stops playing 4's at the 5 just to make room for wing ball handlers to operate.

How much longer are you going to ask this guy to sacrifice his game to make room for the front office to "evaluate" other players. While Franz and Paolo are asked to sacrifice nothing for those project players?

Last year from Oct – Feb it was all about the Bol Bol project for the bench unit so you got 25 min, 9.5 FGA, 12 ppg Cole when you could have had Feb-April 28.4 min, 11.6 FGA, 15.2 ppg Cole. How did that project pay off?

This year you could have had 24.9 Min, 10.8 FGA, 14.3 PPG Cole all season long but instead you chose to have 20.9 MPG, 8.5 FGA, 9.5 PPG Cole the rest of the way. All for what? To work your oft injured vets back into the starting lineup? To give Joe Ingles more on ball pnr reps when he's statistically one of the worst pick n roll ball handlers in the league? To work on post entry passes to a guy who has no business being posted up?
