One of, if not my all time my favorite! I remember back then I had a flip phone where you could make any audio (usually songs) as your ringtone. I remember playing this clip on YouTube and audio recording it on my phone (I was too young to understand how to download shit as mp3 or anything) and setting it as my ringtone! Probably replaced Akon or Ridin by Chamillionare (for real)
Gormans voice has been *that* integrated into my life since childhood beyond the actual games. The rhythm and fervor, of this call specifically, struck me even as a little kid, enough to want to anticipate hearing it at any given moment in my daily life
I heard this clip the other day from another tribute comp and it vaguely sparked the memory in the back of my head but it just came back in full now that you posted this

It’s depressingly fun how many times the Bobcats are on the losing end of these plays. Really the saddest team in the history of the league and it feels like they never had a fair chance

Love that call and miss Tommy. Loved that team. Watched the game with my late dad (miss him the most) at Brigham & Women’s Hospital during his recovery from treatment at Dana-Farber (Dr. Jaklitsch was his surgeon, and we talked about the game the next day with him and his assistant right before my dad was discharged that Monday afternoon). I had arrived in the U.S. from overseas months earlier and was around for much of that season, but I watched the playoffs with my parents when we were all in Asia (it was the beginning monsoon/rainy season, and we had outages during a few of the Finals games on the island…). Great memories of that magical season.

I used to watch this one over and over. Somewhere in the crowd there’s a lady that looks up and asks God why after the shot goes in. Hard to find her in this clip though since it’s a little low quality.

Honestly this single memory looms as large as just about any other moment from that season, even into the postseason. Just such a “oh yeah, this team has *it*” moment. I remember my father and I going nuts in the living room back in my childhood home when it happened.

I’m gonna miss Mike.
