“Oh my God, that team needs to be moved,” one player said. “The altitude is crazy. I don’t like it at all. Every time I play there, I’m dog-tired” — anonymous NBA player poll response on Ball Arena

Ah yes the altitude is why we win! That’s why we have 17 championship banners in the rafters…

Yeah this is the same myth/ garbage that they use as an excuse for home runs in baseball. Cuz the Rockies have been taking the league by storm! Year after year, we win the Stanley cup, superbowls, etc etc. It’s a nice little mental fuck with them tho lol

Bro these guys are acting like we’re in La Paz or Bogota or something lol.
Really 5280 isn’t even that high up in retrospect. You’ll feel the altitude here but you’re a pro athlete you should be able handle this. It’s in their heads.

The title is misleading, its the player poll they do every year. 142 players completed it, and of that number, 5.4% (aka 7.6 people) voted Ball as their least favorite arena to play in. The only quote about it is:
*You may be wondering why Denver’s Ball Arena, where fans have been rocking for years now, ranks seventh in the voting. The answer: the altitude, which is something the Nuggets and NHL’s Colorado Avalanche lean into as a psychological play. When visiting teams’ buses arrive in the arena’s loading dock, players see a sign that says: “Ball Arena WELCOMES YOU TO THE MILE HIGH CITY, ELEVATION 5,280 FEET.”*
*“Oh my God, that team needs to be moved,” one player said. “The altitude is crazy. I don’t like it at all. Every time I play there, I’m dog-tired.”*
Detriot was the least favorite venue with 16.2% votes, citing the lack of fans and atmosphere.

I mean… altitude does affect pro athletes too. Just less so. But it’s not necessarily “in their heads”. Pro athletes and olympians train here for a reason, and athletes that are able to get here plenty early to acclimatize.
Anyone have NARCAN? Because I’m about to shoot this into my veins.

I always thought the Broncos and Nuggets should build their off season training facilities in Leadville. If playing and training at 5280 hangovers you an advantage, 10,000 ft should double it, right?

LOL! And the Nuggets have been champions for a grand total of how many times exactly? One! Gimme a break! Some softa$$ mofos in the NBA.
