never forget lebron publicly scolding KCP for not shooting in a playoff game, then that trade happens. Then lebron stans say Pelinka bears all responsibility. LOL

It’s insane how bad that trade was. Even just having kcp over Russ would have been better. It’s literally set the team back three years
rickydcm
My guy KCP.

We included a fucking first round pick also. Who in their right mind?
Probably a top 2 worst trade in NBA history.
KaseyOfTheWoods
KCP the last 3 years:
11/3/2 on 45/41/87 splits. Elite perimeter defense.
Caruso the last 3 years:
8/3/3 on 45/38/79 splits. Best perimeter defense in the league.
That off season will go down in history as 1 of the worst in NBA history. And I think it was a reminder to the rest of the teams in the league about the importance of retaining core pieces after proven success.

Everybody was mad at me for saying the trade was stupid then russ was the exact bum i always seen him as. Low iq cant shoot 2 guard. Lakers been shit ever since he came

Let’s remember…
LeBron wanted this trade.
And since LeBron wanted it everyone on r/Lakers reddit wanted it too. Just go all the way back and look at the reddit posts calling for the trade to be made.

If this trade doesn’t happen we don’t end up with Ham. His only job when he got here was to convince Russ to hit the bench
Uberballer
This trade really set the franchise back at least 5 years and outside of lucking into a Jokic/Giannis like late round pick that blossoms into a bonafide superstar the Championship window with LeBron is shut.
Just too many assets needlessly burned by this regime. Lopez, Caruso, the first round pick in this trade, whiffing on every MLE signing so far.
Such a joke that this front office is safe.

A lot of lakers fans wanted KCP gone after the playoffs. If it wasn’t this, it would have been the Buddy Hield trade that was being discussed. In hindsight Lakers keep him because he’s the perfect 2 to have as a role player. However he was very inconsistent and would have months where he would shoot like shit, very up and down guy here, but still a better option than none

Stop living in the past. Bron is passed his prime, he’s old for basketball age, he doesn’t haven’t that killer mentality anymore.

Lets see: KCP was constantly threatened by fans, Kuzma sucked defensively, Harrell is no longer in the league and Westbrook is having success with the Clippers.
No…I think the trade was a good thing. Westbrook got to see how the Lakers front office hires trash coaches (Vogel and then Ham)
BodegaDaddy
they really panicked after our injured roster lost to the suns. that 2021 team was so stacked.
Im_Stormz
This all stems with Schroder betting on himself by not taking his offer which brought in Westbrook only for us to ship him off for Dlo Vando and eventually bring back Schroder again 💀
Skyfalcon5
Solomon Hill cost us a championship in 21. And the Russ trade that following summer cost us our sanity for years to come.
tgf5
The funny thing is they probably could’ve made back a bunch of the tax money by going deeper into the playoffs over several years with Caruso and keeping KCP.
HORSEthedude619
It kind of was. Also hiring Ham.
And also, frankly, the seeding this year.
Do you think we’re getting swept by any of the other 6 teams in the conference? Hell, I feel they’d have a good chance to beat anyone else.

This is a reminder names aren’t everything and even finesse players struggle in the playoffs. Playoffs r built for strong scrappy hustle guys.
jam2482
I got so scared thinking that we traded for him again.
beasttyme
Be for real. Hiring Ham was the breaking point
SneakerPxmp
It’s when they let the 2020 chamionship team go and didn’t resign Dwight, Rondo and some big pieces that helped them pull through in the playoffs. You now got DLo and Hachimama instead of Rondo and Dwight. Big difference
Miserable-Lawyer-233
Actually the problem was replacing Westbrook with Dlo – a similar headcase, but less talented. Westbrook would’ve been more helpful in the playoffs over these last two seasons.

It’s just crazy that I play 2k and I was like —hmmm that doesn’t work that’s a bad fit. Yet there are people who get paid millions of dollars and still couldn’t figure that out.

“It was exciting helping put this team together this summer. Understanding what I felt and we all felt was going to make us a title-contending team. … I watch enough basketball to know what I need to do to help the ball club depending on the acquisitions we make per year. So I’m very cerebral about what I need to do for our team to be as great as we can be and to be the counterpart to what **Russ** brings to the table. … I always figure it out.”
