Posting a Non-Avian raptor every day until someone guesses the Raptors player i’m thinking of, or I run out of raptors. Day 1: Velociraptor mongoliensis (description in comments)

**Disclaimer:** Not meant to take away from the daily bird raptor posts, just saw some people who wanted non-avian Dinosaur raptors, so I was inspired to make these posts since I’m a big paleonerd. This way the avian and non-avian raptors fans get content. This is not me trying to karma farm or be annoying, I just genuinely want to share some Dromaeosaurid facts with others.
**Description:** A small Late Cretaceous dromaeosaurid that lived roughly 75-71 million years ago. First discovered in 1923 in what is today the Gobi Desert of Mongolia as well as parts of China. This small dinosaur’s name means “swift thief” or “swift robber” depending on who you ask. Today, Velociraptor is one of the most famous dinosaurs ever discovered, and has popped up multiple times in pop culture such as the movie Jurassic Park which played a role in the naming of the Toronto Raptors mascot as well as the logo. Though in real life Velociraptor is only about 6 ft (2.07 m) in length and 2 ft (0.6 m) in height, it is also confirmed to be a heavily feathered animal, which shows its close relation to the modern day avian dinosaurs, otherwise known as the birds.
**Fun Fact:** A fossilized Velociraptor specimen was found engaged in combat with a Protoceratops (small asian relative of Triceratops). In this famous fossil the two animals can be seen in the act of combat, though how they were killed and fossilized while in the act of fighting is still a mystery.

I’m going to go with Kyle Lowry seeing as he is the Raptor with the most steals in franchise history aka the swift thief.
