Ultimately, we lost this series for a bunch of reasons. Lack of bench scoring and a complete inability to score with embiid off the floor, being a primary reason, refs tossing game 2 to the knicks, etc etc.
But Tobi being as bad as he was this series is a seriously contributing factor.
Imagine replacing him with one actual 40 million dollar level player or 2, quality 20 million dollar role players – sixers likely steamroll this series.
This season sucked, and the ending to this season sucks. But this playoff series to me confirms that Embiid and Maxey are a great pairing and there’s no reason to be anything but excited for some quality basketball next season.
RIP Tobias Harris’ tenure with the sixers.

how did he react?

Nick Nurse should get way more blame for how poorly he coached this series. Tobias is gone next year, you have no need to be loyal to him.
If he was hustling and rebounding the ball well, I understand playing him, but he wasn’t. He gave up so many big rebounds to Josh Hart in game 6 that resulted in 3s.
Not playing Buddy Hield in the third was criminal and his refusal to make any adjustments to the high pick and roll involving Embiid was embarrassing. Just a really poor coached series from a guy I thought was top 5 in the league.
Don’t get me started on playing Lowry so many minutes when we’re getting killed on the glass
edit: last thing, did you guys notice that almost every third quarter in this series went the same? The sixers develop around a ten-point lead and then there’s horrible offense etc and the lead evaporates? You would think a coach worth a damn would notice that by game 6. Same thing happened again, Embiid is on fire. He hits back to back three’s. Maxey hits one to make it ten, then instead of continuing to feed Embiid, Maxey gets selfish and takes two horrible 3’s.

When I was lying in bed yesterday I was thinking about the locker room after the game;
“Thank you Tobias for your time with the team”, Nurse said half-heartedly. There were a few polite claps from people around the locker room, mostly from medical and coaching staff.
“I’m sorry for wasting your prime Embiid. Anyone would have taken that contract, in the end, it’s all about getting the bag right?” Tobias said.
Embiid; “If you really care about this team you will sign a vet minimum contract this summer for 750k/year so we can sign a real 3rd option. This is reparations for wasting my prime and everyone else’s time on this team who actually give a shit”.
There were loud cheers around the room and the mood changed.
Tobias felt the walls closing in around him. His mind was racing.
“Ok sure, I’ll do the Westbrook. I’ll go from the worst contract in the league, to the best. I’ll do it for the team.”.
Then everyone clapped.

No he doesn’t.

If he could have just stepped up and rebounded for us it would have at least been something. We really fucked up not playing Ricky more, we needed a guy with juice who could rebound. Shit.. look at Josh Hart – dude is 6’4″ and out rebounding our guys.

In a close out game in 29 minutes he had 0 points on 2 field goal attempts. How does he follow up his 19 point game in game 5 with only 2 field goal attempts? He didn’t even have 1 personal foul. Like how TF does that even happen? Did he bet on the game? WTF?

Tyrese Maxey is one of those guys that is mature beyond his years. He’s gonna be a problem in the league for many years to come.

I challenge any other those r/nba dickheads to get any meaningful playoff run done with THE CONTRACT terrorizing their team every season
