I don’t know about relocation. The owner seems steadfast in her unwillingness to sell or relocate the team. Besides, New Orleans is a great destination and events city. Pretty sure this will all work itself out.

As a pels fan. We got some New Orleans voodoo on that building cause we can’t win in it. Best road record in nba but we can’t win at home. It’s outdated like you said & ugly inside & out. Demolish it & make a new one
Being born and raised in New Orleans and a Pels/Saints fan since they've existed. The Pels will never relocate considering Mrs. B is the owner. That's just dumb. Most likely it will be renovated because in Nola we don't have that much money and look how great the Dome turned out. Also, they could move to the Dome and play and or to the Kiefer Arena on the campus of UNO last resort. That arena is not bad and it feels comfortable but also close to the court. What's really crazy is that exterior used to be green lol
Let's get one straight: New Orleans Arena (SKC) was built to attract an NBA team which is why it looks the way it does. A new venue built outright to NBA standards is definitely needed. There are temporary venues in the area that can easily be used while the new one is built. The arena is in a perfect location.
Keep in mind that the Smoothie King Center opened in 1999 specifically to host one minor league hockey team, the ECHL's New Orleans Brass. They played for 3 seasons, then the original Charlotte Hornets (now the present-day Pelicans) arrived in 2002. According to Wikipedia's page on this arena, the Hornets organization "persuaded the (Louisiana) state government to demand that the Brass foot the cost of converting the arena between basketball and hockey configurations. That expense was more than the Brass were willing to pay, and they were forced to fold due to the lack of another suitable arena."
Dude you gonna be here in 10 years after all of these teams get Arenas and Stadiums still calling for then to get another New Arena Especially when Translucent roofs become obsolete
With the number of fixes the Smoothie King Arena needs, the architecture firm is probably going to recommend building a new arena and saving the headache of another remodeling down the road. The problem is how much money the taxpayers are going to have to fork over and where to build the new arena?
The Thunder and Spurs are in a better position to ask for new arenas, especially the Spurs, and how oidated their arena looks.
I personally don't see anything wrong with the arena. It's funny that in the pros, people call for new arenas after 20 years, but in college, we still celebrate places like Cameron Indoor Stadium, Allen Fieldhouse, and The Palestra.
In New Orleans the public schools are horrible, the infrastructure (roads, water and sewer) is crumbling. Crime is out of control bad with no cops. 1 billion dollars to replace a facility that is fine is beyond criminally stupid. If they can't play in it move on to somewhere else.
The coyotes situation would never happen here… people here are willing to pay for the pelicans. Granted, 10 years ago they wouldn't have, but with the rise of the team now, yes

They can also use the Super Dome if they demolish the arena and rebuild it on the same spot.
He said the exterior looks like it’s from the 90’s, The 90’s only 25 years ago, Do he expect a new arena every 25 years?????
New arena needs a massive upper deck (wall of seats) and grass on the roof.

It’s an incredibly ugly building.
Dilapidated would be the Rubber Bowl in Akron. DG, I love you but you need to look up “dilapidated” in the dictionary.

The pelican could build a new arena in baton Rouge or Lafayette.

Maybe new orleans will get an nhl team if they build a new arena. That team would share the same arena with the pelicans.

If the Pelicans and Smoothie King Arena fall, Louisiana should bring back the Jazz from Utah with Neo-NOLA Arena
They could play in superdome temporary until smoothie king gets demolished and rebuild new and larger.
Why don't they move to Seattle?

Just something about a place called "Smoothie King Center" instinctively makes me crack up.
Someone buy this dude a dictionary. He loves using the word "dilapidated" and has no idea what it means!
DG never been to Louisiana if he thinks they spending a billion on the pelicans arena
I personally don't see anything wrong with the arena. It's funny that in the pros, people call for new arenas after 20 years, but in college, we still celebrate places like Cameron Indoor Stadium, Allen Fieldhouse, and The Palestra.
The pelicans need a new arena get it done soon
Cincinnati Heritage Arena is way over 30 years and there has been nothing done to it.
Whats the point its going under water soon anyway.
MLB can have some new expansion team in New Orleans, The Big Easy!⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾🏟🏟🏟🏟🏟🏟⚜⚜⚜⚜⚜⚜

And the Thunder just swept the Pelicans.
Only 20 yrs old not old arena
FOR WHAT THEY'RE 🗑
Maybe a temporary relocation to Kansas City or St. Louis possibly Baton Rouge (LSU) maybe Birmingham, AL (G League team)
The arena looks great. Baltimore has a 1962 rectangular arena with 5,000 obstructed view behind the hockey goal seats. Horrible😢
The best thing for them to do is relocate to Kansas City or St. Louis.
None of these teams need stadiums smh
