I think Amen will position himself as our PG of the future despite being used primarily at the dunker’s spot absent Sengun to end this season. How long do you think this will take? (esp. if Tari gets into the starting five).

His handle is a bigger concern than his shot to become a PG.

Like Green is much closer to being a PG than Amen because of the handle.

Without the handle he is going to become a more point forward role akin to a uber athletic Draymond Green.

  2. My concern, and others, is his loose handles.

He seems to have great vision and instincts, but my god does he struggle.

He’ll be close to 22 starting next year, and I’m not sure if people go from sloppy handles to great or elite ever, that’s not me saying it doesn’t/can’t happen, I legit don’t know.

Further his shot is absolutely busted. I think more realistically is he’s not a primary ball handler, and if Alp stays long-term, he’s not the third. More like a Tobias Harris, EG, Austin Rivers. The type of player that can handle the ball, but run the show for any length of time.

Personally don’t think he’ll be the PG but I think he’ll be a versatile wing that can bring the ball up and make plays off the dribble at times.

First he needs to vastly improve his handle this offseason in order to even be considered for PG duties when Fred is on the bench next season. And then from there it’s hard to tell how long it would take for him to become the starting point.

Depending on what we do with Fred’s team option, you’d think it’d be either year 3 or 4 for Amen. And does he split time between wing/forward and point guard duties in the meantime? Seems like a lot, and I can’t think of a comparable situation from the past.

Regardless, it’ll be fascinating to watch. And he has so much skill and talent that he’s gonna make a large impact no matter what
