He’s getting the max and we aren’t gonna be that great but that’s the Lakers for you

  2. EnergyFax

Hey if thats what the lakers want sure but don’t except a great team around you when youre 40 and taking up 50 million in salary cap

  3. Some people will complain about this. That’s fine. It’s understandable.

But players notice this sort of stuff. It’s honestly got to be one of the reasons he came here to begin with – we take care of the legends.

I mean, we’ve made mistakes too but…that last post Achilles Kobe deal was more about a) selling tickets and b)signaling we’re willing to pay late in a career.

  4. PolarRegs

This is the tail end of the Kobe era all over again. It’s the move to maximize profits but not to contend.

  5. With the way the cap works the didference between him making 50M and 30M is pretty much 0

  6. Honestly it should be the nba paying his salary at this point anymore for what he’s done and continues to do

  7. One might disagree but literally every single team would do it if they can. It’s not a Lakers thing, it’s just an NBA thing.

  8. maya_papaya8

As he should. He gives it his all!

And plus LBJ is the biggest damn star in the NBA. LA would be fools to let that get away.

  9. Already seeing comments about taking 50m a year when he is 40 years old and Kobe contract… but this dude just averaged 28-8-8 on 54% over 40% from 3 literally this season

  10. degen5ace

Guess we’ll have to wait until he retires to work on building a championship team

  11. Ashamed_Ad1839

Don’t expect a competitive team till he’s done. We’ve seen this song and dance

  12. freshh_212

People in here talking about he should take a pay cut .. cool but f these business get paid what you are worth. Bron is still a top 10 player in the league. It’s not his job to find the pieces that fit that’s on Pelinka and the rest of the front office.

  13. thinlion01

I’ll keep saying it, Tom Brady and Tim Duncan won at older ages because they didn’t take max money….You wanna be the goat take less and get some help 🥲

  14. Yommination

Hell yeah no titles and a delayed rebuild. Mediocrity hete we go!

  15. Wise_Ad_112

watching the playoffs man, what I would do to have a young star like wolves or okc and Boston or mavs. Kobe’s the last young star we had but now we have no young drafted star like we use to from Jerry west to magic to Kobe who feel like lakers and we see them grow and become all time greats.

Really would like to see us build something where we can compete for years and have consistency with roster and coach. A farewell tour for Lebron is going to be another wasted year but Jeanie will make her money. I just think the lakers are trying to fool everyone by having a 40 year old make 60 mil and tell everyone how they’re trying to win. It’s just not possible. We’ll be fighting for a play in spot again next year and have a similar roster.

Honestly, he should rest. He ain’t got nothing to prove no more. For me dude is the GOAT. Imagine being 39 and still average what 25, 26, 27 a game? atleast 6-8 assists and rebs? Head still above the rim? Boy I ain’t seen nobody doin that at 39, not even Jordan. Don’t get me wrong, I ain’t no Jordan hater.

  17. Pelinka needs to go. They’re gonna sign Lebron to a massive contract and won’t be eligible to get the players they need

  18. BackgroundBit8

This franchise isn’t serious anymore. It’s gonna be another Kobe retirement tour while Lakers fans suffer watching Marcello Huertas, Ryan Kelly level garbage on the floor. A busted AD ain’t saving this team.

  19. Jobsnotdone1724

Lakers remaining seasons with Lebron abt to get wasted

  20. davensdad

Just enjoy his individual greatness, then rebuild 🙂

  21. After going through countless free agency/trade scenarios, Lebron may not have a choice but to take slightly less if he wants certain moves to be made (I’m talking at most $5m though). The amount of things that trigger hard caps now is ridiculous under the new CBA. I predict him to sign 3yr/150m (last year player option). Starting salary of a little less than $46.5m. That’s about a $3.4m discount on next years salary. Doesn’t seem like anything but it’ll actually be super helpful.

  22. Enjoyingcandy34

    Not a kobe deal.

Dude is worth it. In elimination game dropped 30 with efficiency.

    End of story.

  23. Until he gets 6 rings he ain’t gonna be Jordan (save the bill russell or whatever comments for yo mama you disingenuous dorks).

So he better take a smaller paycheck if he wants to make that happen.

  24. Fast_Dragonfruit_883

Say you want about him, he’s been nothing but good to this franchise in my opinion.

  25. papamarx09

I think the Lakers should move on from LeBron if he’s not willing to take a pay cut. He’s taking too much cap space for a player in his forties. The Lakers should use that to invest in a squad with AD as the centre piece

  26. Tall_Succotash

I kinda figured we weren’t a contending team after last years playoffs…at least with Lebron and AD we will at least be in the play in guaranteed. Idk it’s just gonna be about admiring Lebron still being good at this point.

I don’t want to see all the bitching knowing we can’t literally contend.

  27. JulesWinnfieldJr

Thank you jesus!! Without Lebron our chances at a chil are slim anyways, so Im happy I will atleast get to watch the GOAT play in purple and gold for the rest of his career!

I also feel like atp, Lebron does not care as much about winning another chip as we think he does and/or realizes how hard it is with how much competition there is in the league recently

  28. iamtherealaj99

    If we want
    To be a laker
Take a pay cut and have some fresh starts sign. That’s what GOAT do

  29. Standard-Analyst-177

Should be taking a pay-cut for the team
