Hi Tony, Love the show. You & other Pacers media still dance around the FACT the CURRENT starters have finished 13 close/clutch games since they became a unit which is approx half of a season. They are 1-12 in these games.
I've been all over every Pacer avenue available preaching this & trying to warn the Pacers like a lookout for the Titanic warning of an iceberg for months now. The closing lineup has to be changed or have some variation or it's going to sink the season. I think it was finally uncovered by national media now w/ everyone asking why TJ isnt closing but I fear it's probably too late. It's not even specifically TJ per say (maybe it is this series.) It's just Carlisle's insistence tht the same 5 close regardless of the results it's got him.
The only close game the current starters have won in half of a season is the OT thriller, GM 3 vs the Bucks. Since this starting unit became a unit the team has had them finish all but ONE close game. The 1 close game the starting 5 didn't finish they used TJ/Toppin & 3 starters. For some reason Rick tried something different & they won tht game. The very next game they went right back to the usual closing 5 vs the Cavs & lost a tight game.
The issue is & has been that the predetermined closing lineup hasn't worked. We have enough of a sample size. They're 1-12. The team has to win 4 of the next 5 games to win the series now. They'd either need to blow out the Nova Knicks 4 games or alter the closers because the Nova Knicks are great in clise games late. The Pacers lineup is the exact opposite in close games. OR we could at least try a different combo. I'd go w/ whoever's having a good game down the stretch at this point.
With OG out, Jericho Sims will be the backup big. He's 6"10. They'll be less talented without OG but they won't be any smaller.
