Edit: dont take a dumb shot and expect to bailed out by the refs

dont let swellanddecay see this
The_Uncut_Gem
They used to beat people up for saying things like that
TrRa47
I mean, that was obvious. Arm hit or not, he had enough time to try and pass to reset for a quick shot.
CosmicCoder3303
This is exactly what you want to see from a player after a dumbass play like that

RESPONSBILITY!
I like it!
hoppergym
It was a dumb decision. He tried to put the onus on the officials on what would be very tricky tack foul on the road against a team complaining about officiating. I understand taking that shot if he heard a whistle. Counting on a whistle is different. Bad choice.
Airhostnyc
I love this man and fuck all yall haters
Imagine when the Knicks finally win a ring, the hate gonna boil from their skin
justlobos22
He might have been hit but that flail afterwards prob didn’t have much to do with it.
Slicerwind
He knows the right things to say. Hope he isn’t actually beating himself up over it, and is just saying the PR answer.
Time on the clock doesn’t matter when Pacers are looking to intentionally foul, dunno wtf the reporter was insinuating. He made a tough decision, but unless you’re in the act of shooting, I don’t think you try to sell the on the floor foul in that situation. But given how hard Nembhard slapped, maybe Brunson thought he was getting the on the floor foul guaranteed and was trying to get 3 instead of 2.
If Brunson went and tried to make a legit shot and got it, Pacers would be enraged that the foul on Nembhard wasn’t called. Something that’s not being said right now lol.
BananaRepublic_BR
Yeah. I was baffled by that shot.
Warlord10
The awful foul bait on that three was even more egregious.

Well I’m sorry but Brunson does tend to play “hero ball” a lot and it’s something quite a few Knicks fans like myself have criticized him about.
Why not pass to Divencenzo for that last shot? He had a hot hand all night.
I’m glad that Brunson is self aware about this at least.
CNDOTAFAN
He owns his mistake, that’s what you want from the leader of your teams. Murray should take notes.

What Accountability Looks Like
tlozz
Bro, this type of accountability from a number one franchise option is like crack cocaine to the Celtics fan currently in withdrawals😩
Jozif_Badmon
Knicks fans gaslighting themselves into believing that was a legit shot lmao. I love Brunson but that was pure foul bait and tbh a pretty dumb play. Hope he does learn
basedrew
Brunson and the nova boys is one of the best narratives in the league right now
Jicama-Smart
how am I supposed to hate him now???
Sct_Brn_MVP
How the fuck can you hate this guy? Makes you want to root for him

How dare he take responsibility for a mistake!
The man has always been a leader.

I think each of our 3 losses so far in the post season have come down to him making some dumb decisions, he needs to work on that

We’re lucky to have him. Props to JB

We still love you Jalen.

This is one of the most humble responses I’ve ever seen from an NBA player.

Bro took more accountability in one sentence than Doc Rivers has in his whole career 💀
KindSpectacle
Ya know what… respect. Hopefully he changes and just shoots the damn ball.
Major_Wager75
Knicks are taking game 4. Brunson ain’t gonna let this define him
SoberSethy
Damnit Brunson stop making it so damn hard to not like you! I hate that I am such a big fan of a guy that is not a Nugget but I’m considering buying my first non-Nuggets jersey and I don’t know how to feel about it!

Damn
MyLadySansa
He’s always the first to call himself out, I love it
Ny_icedogs
He very rarely gets thrown off his game in the clutch like he did with this shot.
As a fan, I was upset at the attempt, but love seeing him own up to it.
that last 4 mins was terrible to watch. this is what they do at an elite level in a play off game?
aesop_fables
He got hit by nembhard and decided to throw up the ball because he thought the refs were going to call a foul. Everything I easy to say in hindsight. Is what it is.
nmille44
I get that he handled the question like a pro, but he still tried to flop and exaggerate contact with game on the line. Y’all are being too kind in the comments for this type of chicanery
ccheese6
He tried to flop his way to a game winner and basketball fans are commending him. LOL
