[Daniel Hackett] Number I’ve got now: if they don’t bother with any of their free agents except IQ, and opt out of Brown’s contract, the Raptors will have *28.9M* in cap room to play with. Re-signing Trent could potentially still leave them enough room to outbid teams in the MLE market.

Can we get Aaron Wiggins?
Unless we’ve got a deal set up in advance i.e. tampering for Claxton, Smith, Hartenstein, etc. – considering this is a weak free agency class there aren’t a ton of great options – declining Brown’s option and losing Trent for nothing would be a horrendous outcome for this offseason
I want Malik Monk.
He’s still only 26 and turned into a legit playmaker with the kings.
I’d be interested in some depth along the lines of Fultz and Caleb Martin. But I can’t see someone out there that is attainable and makes sense in the $25m+ range
Opt out as in like getting nothing in return for Brown?
Keeping one of brown/GTJ and then using the remaining money on a mid level guy or two seems like the most realistic path
Tank for Cooper Flagg.
What FA is going to volunteer and sign with Raps?? They’re rebuilding, failed to make a contending roster 5 years in a row, didn’t treat their star players well. They have ZERO leverage in FA.
They’re answers for the lack of shooting was Will Barton and Otto. Pathetic
If, worst case scenario, we let bruce and gtj walk for nothing, is monitoring the market on a guy like tobias harris worth it for us? Feel like we’re lacking in the sf department and he could be a perfect transitionary piece who’ll allow us to assess what a decently built starting lineup needs to improve if we stick with IQ/Scottie as our main guys. IQ, RJ, Tobi, Scottie, Poeltl seems like a solid play-in team, meaning we’d still be in play for lottery and we’d get to see what our squad needs to address in future offseasons. Best case would be tobias improves his trade value and we off load him to a contender and get some picks back to continue the rebuild… but that’s probably just wishful thinking.
We could have just traded Brown for Fournier + Knicks 2024 pick to give us an asset + cap space. I am just shocked at how things have been proceeding the past 4 years man…
Opting out of browns contract makes that pascal trade look terrible
From what I remember, I think it was, but Toronto wanted to hold out and see if there was a better offer out there.
The Knicks, looking to build their playoff roster, moved on quickly and traded for Bogdanovic instead
I genuinely expect the worst to happen lol. Brown and GTJ walk for nothing and the Raps overpay for some mediocre FA.
Ideally, I want to see cap space be used to take on bad contracts from other teams.
