Could not be more impressed & proud of this rookie. He has been shooting great, playing good defense, and making the right play down the stretch. Hope he continues to grow into a coveted 3&D player that every team is looking for.

He has had a hell of a run for a 2nd round rookie

We are deep into the playoffs and I find myself multiple times a game saying “put Shep in”

    That’s how I know it’s real

Quote from Rick in the story: “He plays a style of game that’s not a high-risk style. He goes hard, he’s fast, he defends, and generally does a pretty good job of showing his hands and avoiding bad fouls.”

This is a wonderful encapsulation of Rick’s approach to young players. I think he’s one of the best at bringing in the mature young player and finding him a role. At the same time, it spells out why I’m on the fence about him ever getting the most out of Mathurin and/or Jarace. Just don’t know if he’ll ever have the patience to nurture the high-risk young guy into the best version of himself.

2nd year in a row where the second round pick is the bigger contributor

What we all wanted Duarte to be, AND he’s not the oldest rookie ever

  7. He’s looking great for the 26th pick. Doesn’t have a crazy high ceiling but gotta love Shep.
