Should each Milwaukee Bucks player stay or go plus Jon Horst news

The Milwaukee Bucks have a big offseason coming up, and it seems Jon Horst will indeed be the one running the ship for it as according to multiple journalists the Bucks denied the Detroit Pistons the opportunity to interview Horst for their President of Basketball Operations job. Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti started off a packed Gyro Step podcast by digesting that news and sharing what it likely means for Horst and the Bucks moving forward, before covering other news including the NBA Draft Lottery happening on Sunday, Doc Rivers letting three assistant coaches go, and Mike Budenholzer and Charles Lee getting hired as head coaches.

After ALL of that, Ti and Rohan go through the whole Bucks roster to decide if each player should stay or go, from Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, and Khris Middleton to TyTy Washington Jr., Jaylin Galloway, and Ryan Rollins. Debates on Brook Lopez, Bobby Portis, and somehow Danilo Gallinari emerged during the conversation.

  1. The "Bobby-for-mayor" people claiming that he is a better defender and rebounder than Brook is hilarious to me.
    a) i dont even have to say anything about the defensive capabilities, Brook is monstrously better than Bobby in that department
    b) if you purely look at the rebounding numbers and dont watch the games or simply dont udnerstand what you are watching, then yes Bobby's numbers are better. But Brook's main focus is to box out so that other guys can rebound (yes this year he was worse at that than usual, as was the whole team for that matter), Bobby cannot boxout to save his life. On top of that, Bobby's half rebounds per game is from taking 4-5 offensive rebounds every game simply because he is missing all the point blank layups and has to try 3 times in a row to make one. The cherry on top is that Brook has never left this team hanging in a crucial game like Bobby did in game 4. So i 100% agree that Brook is a "stay" and Bobby is a "go". Btw i dont hate Bobby, i would like him to stay as an offensive spark off the bench and a "hired-muscle" kind of role, but in the context of the stay/go i wouldnt insist on him staying

  2. Not sure Brook is worth more to another team than us, but I’m damn sure that Rohan is right that he has more than trade value than anyone outside of the big three.

I lean towards Ti’s side though, I really really don’t want to have to part with Brook yet.

  3. I get the excitement for Ajax and Green, but starter for Ajax for next season? I don’t see it. Fans always tend to over hype their own players. Weren’t we expecting Marjon to take a leap this year and how did that go. I rather fill that spot with a more proven/experienced guy. Not old and slow btw lol. Young guys show promise and flashes and tend to be inconsistent. It takes time for young guys to develop. It’s never mostly linear. I like both guys but if the right deal comes along I’d trade one of them. You can’t fall in love with young guys and potential especially if they don’t meet certain expectations.

  4. As Bucks fans, we NEED to let go of the nostalgia players (Brook-Bobby-Pat C). It’s hard to think about moving on from them all in the same offseason but we can’t mortgage the few remaining years of Giannis prime with these old, slow, misfit players that don’t fit the new shape of the team with Dame. The entire roster needs to be reconstructed based on the Giannis-Dame tandem. New Era in Milwaukee. We need to adapt ASAP.
