Stephen A.: The MAVERICKS might draft Bronny James BEFORE the Lakers 😳 | The Stephen A. Smith Show

As much as I can’t stand this guy, I find this intriguing. (tl;dr Mavs use a late round 1st pick on Bronny to entice Pops to come to Dallas). Bill Simmons also brought up LBJ to Dallas on his NBA Draft pod (spoilers – it involves DLive lol). The general consensus is LeBron wants a bag to assist in his ownership pursuit, but we’ve also heard for years that he wants to finish his career with his son.

Does LeBron take a pay cut to make it happen? Is he willing to play second or third fiddle? Is he a good fit?

He’s actually very similar to Josh Green as a player

Wait do we even have a pick this year? Much less one before the Lakers?

Ironically, we had pick 54, one slot before the Lakers, but now the Celtics have it through a bunch of trades (we sent it to SAC, who sent it to BOS).

We have pick 58. It would take the Celtics giving us back our 54th pick, or we could trade farther up using a future 2nd (or cash considerations?).

Hey, crazier things have happened. (Remember Rodman in a Mavs uniform?)

  4. Bronny’s absolute ceiling is like Deuce McBride. He more likely ends up out of the league in a few years or a journeyman third stringer.

Anyone taking draft gossip from Stephen A Smith seriously should be embarrassed

I don’t mean to sound like LeBron but I would hope Mavs considering drafting Bronny is more about what they see in Bronny than getting a few years of LeBron. That said, I think my user flair speaks for itself.

No way. If it were true he would have yelled louder.

Please for the love of glob do not click the link – don’t give this dude a single more view until he loses his MVP voting privilege, for the love of the sport.

In all seriousness, if ANY team knows they would get bron on a deal by drafting his kid, that’s a risk most would take.

Say we somehow get a draft pick above the Lakers, does Lebron just says “Fuck 50m, I have enough money, I’ll sign for the mid level or minimum”. As much as he wants to play with his son, if all rich people have one thing in common is that they want to be richer.

Remember that rumor last summer about lebron and draymond to Dallas?

    For better or for worse…

  11. If we drafted Bronnie, would you all rather use him to entice a Lebron trade, or would you rather use him in a Lakers trade to pull someone like Hachimura to the Mavs?

Unless I’m missing something, this James family trade thing could go either way, right?

I heard Bill Simmons spitballing that we may also trade Lively for Lebron xD

the only way this happens is if we got confirmation from lebron that he would come play here if we got bronny.

i personally think that lebron has too much leverage on the lakers and they’ll use the second round pick on him to keep lebron happy and around because they have no other choice.

For the money he would leave on the table, he would make up in the mid west market. For the brand he’s done east and west. Midwest has more buying power than both combined. Having Luka and Kai makes it even juicier.

  15. You know what? I could see Cuban doing something like that if he thinks it gives him some leverage of some kind. He isn’t afraid of a negotiation, lol.

Bronny shooting 3’s and D would be nice for bigD but i don’t want lebron lol
