feels like a no brainer on who to keep if you’re cleveland but obviously not really their choice.

  2. moses_lawn

Really thought their willingness to sacrifice touches would’ve yielded better results. Bummer.

What’s garlands trade value? I haven’t watched much of him but seems since his allstar season he hasn’t been that good

  4. Dededelete49

I still believe in Garland, I think the injury just kind of fucked him this season. It wasn’t the best fit anyway and Mitchell is better if you have to choose, so trading him is fine, but I think he’ll be huge for whatever team gets him.

  5. americanbeaver

Funny that the answer to “should they keep Garland or Sexton?” was “Keep Donovan Mitchell”.

  6. confuddly

I cant believe Donovan wants to stay in Cleveland wtf. He’s got Miami LA and Brooklyn with offers for him

*The San Antonio Spurs have entered the chat*

  8. Definitely should keep Mitchell.

But think Garland is an amazing buy low guy. He has star potential, sure a lot of teams will view him as a potential SGA on the Clippers type asset.

Garland/Mitchell and Mobley/Allen dont work on the court, Cleveland isnt in a bad situation but if they didnt have those injuries which actually saved t heir season which had them space the floor with one of the bigs been out…..this shit would have blown up earlier according to reports atleast. Windy said Bickerstaff was close to been fired before that run.

    Would luv Garland with Wembi.

My favorite player, but it must be done. We can’t have two ball dominant guards who are lackluster on defense. They both don’t really move without the ball either, even though Bickerstaff can be blamed for that.

    That said, please re-sign Mitchell!

Utah, please. Just to watch them squirm anytime someone says “SexLand”.

All that hype to win one playoff series

“Will indeed” is a tad stronger than “Sources say” so…

I like Garland as a player and I think in terms of making a trade, his value is likely under what it normally would be, but that contract is pretty disgusting, so, despite rumors of us being involved, I would not like to see the Spurs acquire him. But if for some reason they do, I will cheer for him.

  14. 2 short guards in the current league is nearly an impossible feat to win a championship. Wolves might do it but they have 2 extreme examples of what short guards can bring. High athleticism from ANT and extremely high IQ from Connelly. Darius Garland is neither nor does he bring anything of high value worth like Steph or Dame. Which is why Bucks were suffering playing Beasley next to Dame and Portland suffered playing CJ next to Dame as examples.

  15. Where does Darius Garland rank among PGs in the league? He is on a near max and has a trade kicker. The slump year makes it kind of spooky or great since he is just entering his extension money.

Could see him being a Spur maybe if they can’t get Trae Young? Idk

Someone should absolutely be buying low on Darius Garland.

Dude broke his fuckin jaw this year and couldn’t eat solid food for like a whole month? Yeah it makes sense that his shit got all fucked up. He apparently lost over 10 pounds. That’s debilitating for a professional athlete.

  18. LukaDoncicfuturegoat

They should fire JB and try with a new coach before trading Garland.

They had a terrible luck with injury last year, the year before Garland and Mitchell had their best season.

Feels like this could seriously backfire if Mitchell indeed decides to go. Conditionally shopping Garland like this could really damage that relationship even if they end up keeping Darius and trading Mitchell.

I have a hard time believing it’s a foregone conclusion that one of them will be traded. The Cavs will not be that interested in draft picks, and they’d need a side kick for Mitchell in return. Garland isn’t the type of guy who would force his way out if Cleveland doesn’t trade him right away. Cavs should hold on to him unless someone makes a huge offer.

  21. SuccessfulVisit1873

So LeBron is going back to Cleveland, right?

  22. CuttlefishAreAwesome

It seems weird that they would give up on this unless they are getting a really good offer. It could definitely be a win win trade for both parties but to just assume they will get a great deal and they’ll make a trade no matter what is kind of premature imo.

  23. Before the season, there was an interview where Garland said something like, *this is my team now,* or *I’m the leader of this team.* It landed poorly and never really panned out.

  24. ArchmageRick

So, wait. Who are the Heat going to be disappointed about missing out on?

  25. okiedokiewo

Bit bummed by this. But it did seem that they just weren’t the right fit together despite trying to make it so.

  26. Defiant_Dig3820

Makes sense. Team performed to less than the sum of its parts. Ugly to watch. I’m confident that either direction they go will lead to a more exciting brand of basketball whether it’s DG or DM at the helm. We will probably get more wins with Mitchell (as evidenced) but the lack of stickiness when Garland runs the offense is fun to watch as well.

That said, I will be sad to see either go as they have both been great Cavs. Either should get a standing ovation when they return to Cleveland.

  27. Tearz_in_rain

I get it. They got TWO guards who are undersized and give up a lot at their positions. 6’3 at SG and 6’1 at PG.

But that said, these cats just won the first sans-LeBron playoff series in Cleveland since 1993 (that’s over three decades) and the response is to break it up?

It seems hurried, but on paper, I can’t disagree with it. It would be hard to build a team around two small guards.

That said, these guys got more height between them than Dumars and Zeke, and they won back-to-back titles, beating the Celtics, Bulls, and Lakers.

  28. TheMuffingtonPost

Would love to see Garland go to the Spurs, I think he would fit in nicely there and would give Wemby a point guard that can actually get him the ball in his spots.

  29. Tearz_in_rain

Maybe they can trade Darius and Allen for LBJ and AD 😉
