Yes there might be more pressing topics on Wolves’ fans minds right now, but the game is still at least 40 hours away so I thought I’d get rid of some nervous energy by pointing out that east coast, west coast, and central division teams have sort of an unsaid advantage in not having to fly 2-3 hours to play their division/conference games that make up the majority of their schedule. Why shouldn’t we be in a division with Milwaukee, Detroit and Chicago?

Memphis has a better case then us.
That’s why for expansion it would likely be us or Memphis going east.
There are 6. Toronto is closer as well.
How much do you think increased travel affects the season?
The divisions are a relic
Technically, 6 teams. We are closer to Toronto than OKC
Toronto is 705 miles away
OKC is 717 miles away
Memphis is 730 miles away
I think Minnesota is a better cultural fit with the teams it’s grouped with now. Would I like to see the Wolves in a division with Milwaukee and Chicago? yeah, but I think Denver or Portland are much closer culturally than Cleveland or Indianapolis.
I’m one of the few that likes this. All of our other leagues have the same city rivals. Chicago-Milwaukee-Detroit- I like that the wolves have different opponents.
it is such a blessing to not be in the eastern conference – we do not want this. you do not want 90% of your games each season to be against the worst teams and organizations in the world. dear god i do not want to play the pistons, wizards, hornets, hawks like 4 times a year each
Are there currently talks of new teams?

In the bigger picture it does make sense. We are a part of the nw division. Not to mention our state identy is more like those in our conference then the east. I’ve never really compared minnesota with its one large centralized population to states like Wisconsin or Illinois which have lots of highly populated city’s, but nothing as condensed as our twin cities. In that way we as a city are more like OKC, Portland, and Denver. So our markets are similar which makes it more competitive.
