opportunity to chime in on it on the show but I was locked in on Friday morning when I was in the airport listening to One Sportsman like and it was it was fascinating to say the least I got to ask this question maybe it’s too soon I don’t know but like are are we sure that Xander schley’s people didn’t give sheffer’s Camp the route to get into Val Hall on Friday are we sure that didn’t happen like maybe this is sha Fleet trying to clear the deck so he can win the championship cu the word on the street is that he chokes away any lead that he has early on in the weekend in the final round didn’t happen yesterday credit to him being able to sck that putt on 18 but I mean there’s a lot going on in the weekend of sports so I can’t wait to dive into my upon further review but before we do mean LCA donic 29o triple double in a closeout game against the the number one seed in the Western Conference you would think would get more headlines today but somehow it feels like it’s under the radar Luca became the fifth player in NBA history to record three consecutive triple doubles during the playoffs Mavs came back from a 17. second half deficit behind strong contributions from Derek livley and Dereck Jones but make no mistake it was the Luca and Kyrie show in the fourth quarter those two combining for 51 points throughout the game but in the fourth quarter specifically they scored SC 26 of the 34 points for the Dallas Mavs we skip over Luca donic anytime we have the conversation about the future face of the league I know we talked about it several weeks ago about how he missed his window to be the next one up after joic are we sure that that’s the case because we’re seeing now that the Dallas Mavs are in the Conference Finals two of the last three years I get it there have been several different iterations of the Dallas Mavericks around Luca donic over the past several seasons they’ve changed running mates for Luca they’ve changed head coaches for Luca hell they’ve even changed ownership for Luca but now it feels like this is an opportunity for Luca to step up and assert himself as the next guy up and I’m curious to see whether or not that happens but if he does get this team past the Timberwolves into the NBA Finals the volume on this conversation is only going to get louder and louder I agree I think it’s definitely going to be something I think your Ant-Man uh take months ago about the next guy up is still in the lead like I but if Luca beats him then obviously that becomes a different conversation here’s here’s the thing I think the Casual NBA fan will watch these two guys go head-to-head in the Conference Finals and think both of them are unreal and then they will think boy Anthony Edwards is likable and then they will ask the question why does luuka complain on every single play so I think Luca’s got to be careful on this because more eyes are going to be on him right now than arguably ever before and he’s played at the biggest of stages internationally but he literally complains about a foul and every single play and that can be a turnoff to some people in terms of face of the league I think ant still has the lead but Lucas had one hell of a start to a career that’s for sure yeah I hate watch Luca do well that’s the point right he’s so he’s so talented but it’s just like it’s it’s it’s a brand of basketball that I just can’t get on board with it is just painstaking the amount of complaining that the dude does and then just the style of play I I’ll admit though like one of the most skilled if not the most skilled offensive player in the entire m ba sidebar to this conversation do any of y’all have a problem with Thunder coach Mark dagal challenging the foul on the three-point attempt by PJ Washington with two and a half seconds left rather than keeping the timeout in his back pocket to advance the ball to half court anybody got a problem with that what’s interesting about that is then it actually led to a voluntary or an on purpose Miss third free throw by PJ Washington when he made the first two knowing they didn’t have a timeout by taking the one-point lead you don’t allow them to advance the ball Etc so that yeah I mean here’s the thing if there’s no foul you get the ball don’t you yeah but I mean if you call if you call the timeout you can advance in a half court and you have a better chance with less than three seconds left to get a set shot that’s all y yeah okay keep it it moving next number one can we stop with this ridiculous take about the WNBA taking it quote unquote easy on Caitlyn Clark in order to grow the game from Uncle Luke to Colin coward to to Jeff Teague on his podcast people are talking about favorable scheduling and players scaling back the intensity and that that just undermines the Integrity of the competition in the W Caitlyn Clark along with all the other talented rookies will adjust to playing against the best women’s basketball players in the world and frankly it’s misogynistic to say otherwise we should never we would we we should never and would never say this about men’s sports about how they need to take it easy on rookies because of all of the Fanfare that the stars are coming from college with and going into professional sports we would just never say that about men’s sports for the record women in sports don’t need to be coddled you know it’s Pro Sports It’s supposed to be hard and as for the games you know even without them taking it easy on Caitlyn Clark Angel Ree and others they were pretty damn entertaining this weekend I was locked in for the Liberty fever game and for obvious reasons Smalls RP to your team this weekend in Brooklyn didn’t work out for you guys hope you got the sweatshirt for me though from the team store that’s beside the point but I was dialed into the Liberty fever game and then I stuck around to watch AC Sparks I mean I wanted to see Derrik and Henry go at it with Becky Hammond and Asia Wilson and all those it was phenomenal basketball guys I I had to admit this and I don’t feel like I’m a bad guy for saying this but I I before this weekend I don’t remember watching five straight hours of the WNBA I just don’t but the reality is because we’ve had these readymade Stars out of the incubator that is women’s college basketball I wanted to see what happens it it’s it’s it’s it’s somehow captivated my attention and the attention of other sports fans in this country and around the world seeing all these Stars transition and wanting to know how they’re going to do but in the process of checking in on the stars that we already know the names and faces that are familiar to us you actually become familiar with a damn good brand of basketball which is the WNBA and I think that’s that’s the thing that’s going to keep people around that’s the thing that’s going to keep people locked in it’s not a league catering to these young Stars just because we know them from the college ranks it’s the league being able to have quality basketball and the W has been doing this for years and I know I’m late to the party but now that I’m here I ain’t going nowhere and so all of the people that are saying that the WNBA players and the league need to quote unquote take it easy on Caitlyn Clark and give her favorable scheduling let’s just stop with that conversation because it’s ridiculous and and it’s misogynistic and you should be embarrassed that you have that opinion yeah I must have missed all of those the NFL should take it easy on Bryce young because he struggled in his rookie season takes thank you thank you didn’t hear anything about that and you’re as you say CC like cosign re retweet so the thought is that the WNBA should lessen the level of professional competition in order for a rookie like Caitlyn Clark to have a better performance because she brought eyeballs onto the sport it’s absolutely ridiculous and Caitlyn Clark I’m sure would be offended if she heard that because this is as Fierce of a competitor as we’re ever going to see yes we’re used to seeing her be dominant but that’s what happens when you go from college to the pros yes that’s what happens I mean she’s going into a completely different pool of talent and a completely different exactly a a completely different pool of competition coming off a a a postseason run in the tournament I mean I don’t know what people expect from her and I don’t know what people expect from the league but to your point CeCe people may go to the W because of Caitlyn Clark she may bring the eyeballs but it doesn’t really matter what her performance is because once they’re there they’re going to see Sabrina yonescu they’re going to see Briana Stewart they’re going to see unbelievable talent in the league and continue to stick around so I I could not agree more Caitlyn Clark is a competitor and she doesn’t need anyone to take it easy on her nor does she want that I’m sure how would you describe me as a
