The Warriors Need To Empower The Young Players
I just yeah it’s going to be tough to get the big men off the two teams that are in the Western Conference Finals but I I do see what he’s saying about Minnesota well cat might not be as hard right right I don’t know if the Warriors would be able to to make that work but I mean if if you’re Minnesota don’t you want to move goar rather than Carl Anthony towns if you could you could if you’re the Warriors would you be interested in car in uh Rudy goar but who are you who are you going to get more more for and I think cat’s under contract for more so I mean yeah ideally you’d like to keep I think an and cat together um but you also spent four first round picks on R go bear maybe I mean I don’t know if if you’re the Warriors yes like the I think that the takeaway is that they need more size and they need more athleticism ideally you can find that in one player but Steiner let me ask you this because you are someone that does think about 2027 you are someone that thinks about Capital would you be willing to move a first round pick or multiple first round picks to acquire a player that is large and athletic because that might be the only way you get it I are you talking about goar specifically or cat I don’t know probably Carl Anthony towns yes uh but not not goar just because goar is a little older and and I mean here’s the here’s the issue is I’m thinking of the four names that have come up like over the last two or three years and they’re never good enough for Warrior fans whether it was you know Miles Turner or even seum some people he’s not a great fit or uh who else am I thinking of who’s uh who’s been um linked to the Warriors a goar sometimes it’s like oh anobi anobi that’s another one and a lot of times Warrior fans just don’t think these guys are going to move the needle and I think there’s players out there that can move the needle but they may not make a big splash is what I’m saying I if the Warriors acquire these guys I don’t think they’re going to get a big name why because you think it would just cost too much or that’s not what they’re looking for I think it’s I think I think getting a big boy in here is just going to be too hard logistically like I think the Warriors might go shopping and they they might have some great names involved but I think it’s going to be I think it’s going to be tough for them to do it and and accomplish all their financial needs also because remember they still got to try to uh they got to they got to uh start getting off some payroll well that’s why I think that they that they should look inward I mean that’s that’s why why I I do think that these younger players they have need to be empowered again if if Brandon psky is a first team all rookie selection I trace Jackson Davis missed the second team by one vote or a couple votes you got two rookies that you’ve hit on I know they might not be all NBA or all Pros yet but you hit on them they helped you their first season I think they can help you next season I think they can get better from now until then and you pair that with the third or fourth year leaps that jonath kaming and Moses Moody can make well then you might then you might have something because young players have come out of nowhere in recent memory to help teams get either into the postseason or deep into the postseason I don’t think the Warriors are in a position where they should give up on their young guys and it’s not just because they’re young and the older players are declining it’s because they might be able to find something in them yeah I I mean you’ve gota I think you gotta I think you got to wait and see what these young players do for you if you’re the Warriors you know I mean okay psky just made the first team all rookie all rookie team like that’s that’s a nice get by Mike dun leevy and Trace Jackson Davis was a nice get by by Mike dun leevy now are they are they role players are they are they rotation players are they starters are they Stars are they Superstars I I don’t know the answer to those questions but the reason the reason I’m not moving any of those guys right now is because we do like we have step this is what I mean we have Steph Curry for two more years here and then we’ll figure out if he’s going to play any longer when you say build around Steph Curry my Fe what I hear is we’re going to move our young players and try to come in here with a couple veterans and put us over the top again or back into contention let’s just put it that way and I would rather see the Warriors Steph Curry is still the best player on this team and I would like to see the team being built around Curry are the four guys that are on the team right now Moody kaminga Trace Jackson Davis and pky let them play with Steph for another year let them have bigger roles and then Steph will gradually decline then at that point at that point that’s when you go looking for your next star like in a in a year in a year or two when these young guys are maybe a year or two older and ready and then at that time you know Steph is 38 years old and maybe coming off your you know off your salary cap and then that’s when you go get a new number one player ideally through free agency if you can and I I think that’s going to be be tough this is from chubis on YouTube donating 499 thank you very much to say imagine the Panic talk if the Warriors drafted another point guard when Steph was still in his prime no way halberton was on their radar yeah I mean but at the time they had Jordan P who they thought was going to be their their next you know air parent or whatnot so and and they chose to give up on him for various reasons I think in hindsight that was probably the correct choice for what direction they wanted to go I think also and it hangs over the head of every team is this is this second apron and and I think it is why there is more hope for the Warriors than people are perceiving it’s because these teams are not going to be able to stay together for as long as we assume you’re not just going to keep rolling over contracts and money and just be able to mount the massive amount of of tax allocation and just keep bands together the way they used to that’s that’s the whole point of this rule is so that a team cannot be built and remain together like the Golden State Warriors were so that’s going to apply to the Boston to the [Music] minnesotasrc in the first round or second round being not disbanded but players moving around there’s going to be options so I I agree with you st I don’t I don’t don’t think there’s um a big name that the Warriors are going to get but I I think that’s just because when I when I see the lay of the land as it is right now and we’ll have a better view of it over the course of a month I don’t think there’s an obvious big name out there for them to acquire right now that helps them get better that doesn’t mean in 3 weeks after we start to hear breadcrumbs and hints and things trickle out from camps about who’s disgruntled Who Wants to Be Moved who might want money that they can’t afford in certain places who might not be as valued around the league as we perceive them to be that is when I think we can make more you know informative decisions about what the Warriors should do 888 957 9570 is the number you want to jump in on uh some Warriors talk we’re trying to figure out where this team goes after watching the playoffs we’re down to the final four in the NBA and have things become clear about what you think about the golden Warriors and and where they are right now in the pecking guard I’ll tell you one thing that that uh that doesn’t do them any favors and I think it’s it’s a factor and that is you’re in the Western Conference you’re you’re not in the Eastern Conference if you were in the Eastern Conference I think this would look a lot different I I think you’d be a four or five seat in the East but the fact that you’re a 10 seat in the West in a way is a blessing because it really tells you where you are um but it’s a curse too because you know you don’t have the luxury of playing playing the teams that the Eastern Conference teams play I mean yes but but again it’s it’s it’s a year-to-year league now more than ever for example last year there were four 50- win teams in the East this year there’s two La last year there were two 50- win teams in the west this year there’s what five so what’s to say that next year isn’t a down year for the West maybe there are injuries that happen I know we want to think about all the rest of these teams that are up and coming and that are on the heels of the Warriors you know there might be a catastrophic injury next year or something that happens there might be player movement I I I guess why it’s hard for me yeah you want to think about the future right you want to make two prong choices that help you for now and later but it’s hard for me to just jump into 2027 when again three years ago the warriors were on top of the world they were Champions two years ago and you say it all the time tiny that was a long time ago so why am I going to say in three years well this looks like it’s going to happen this is going to happen when in two years the league has been completely flipped on the Warriors heads they were Kings and now they’re a 10 seed a lot happens in two years and I just don’t want to I I guess put the cart before the horse in regards to the Warriors why I want to see them stand Pat with their younger players and not move them is because of that it’s because there’s a lot of unknowns I think it’s too early to write off Jonathan kaminga and what his career can be I think it’s too early to write off moody or psky or tjd might they be eh in a couple years perhaps they might also be really good and I don’t want to take that away from them before we have to well I hear you there I I mean I hear you there um the only the only thing that I would say is yes two years ago the Warriors won it and look at where they are now so things can change in a hurry but I I think they change in a hurry the other way in terms of moving up the standings I think that tends to happen with with with younger teams and I wonder how like how big of a role and I’m going to call them the four young guys the thing we got to find out next year to me is whether all four of the young guys can take as big a role as they have this past year or a bigger role than they had last year and we can be better I is that possible because if it is to me that’s the direction that I would go in if if you don’t resign Klay Thompson and you keep the young guys on the team and you do a couple other moves I think it’s possible that the Warriors could be better without Clay Thompson because you know I just think there were times last year where where he Hur him now you’re going to you’re going to miss the big games you’re obviously going to miss the big games there’s about a handful of games every year that Klay can win for you just by the way he shoots but by putting a more well-rounded person or more maybe more well-rounded player in his spot a better Defender maybe a better passer I think you could become a better team and that’s the way I would like to I would that’s the way I’d like to see the warriors uh Warriors kind of go is to uh just make a commitment to incorporating these four young guys in the lineup more than they did this past year yeah and I think it’s because the league is not adjusting to them anymore they have to adjust to the league and the league is screaming at at you from the top of the Salesforce Tower you got to be big you got to be fast you got to be athletic and you have to be able to defend for long periods of time I I think Denver in the series against Minnesota had the best player they lost they lost at home they blew a 20-point lead why because of what we’re talking about because what of what we’re talking about the Warriors needing to emphasize more this off season last year the theme of The Summer was experience and it was optionality and I think the optionality part of their emphasis has set them up to make a couple of choices this Summer that could help them and that could free them off of certain guys whether it’s Clay whether it’s uh I don’t know Looney whether it’s Chris Paul they they have options now it’s about what they do with those options it’s about what they do with those choices and I think that if they make the correct ones I don’t think it’s out of bounds for them to get three more wins than they did last year which would put them as a top six team I don’t think it’s out of bounds to believe that the Warriors can’t get better and I think you’re right that might mean asking Klay Thompson to walk and fing up $40 million because at this point in his career Klay Thompson’s 43 million coming off the books might be more valuable to the Golden State Warriors than him being a 38% three-point shooter no I I hear you and the decisions that Mike Dunley and Joe lakeer are going to have to make make this summer um are are going to be are going to be fascinating
Steiny and Evan discuss the Warriors need to empower their young players and let them grow, as well as external options that the Warriors could look to acquire in order to keep the dynasty going.

They a year behind it was supposed to started last year with poole but foolish pride wouldn't let certain CORE veterans let go of reigns. Go back and look at warriors bench 1st year they won it and the next year they had core 12 deep then durant came alone then the last chip they caught lightning in a bottle with Poole
Trade for pics
Remember they wanted to trade Klay Thompson in 2013 😂😢😮
I used to think the same way. Empowered the young, but, when Podz showed up and the way he plays, omg, he's a stats only player. Never cared about teammates and doing the right thing in order to win a games. Sometimes, not sometimes often all the time fighting he's own teammates for stats 😂😂. He's job is to prevent fast break by opponent, but he fight he's own teammates for stats. 😂😂😂 Therefore the opponent always scored on fastbreak.
yes finally i agreed w steiny abt growing jk moody tjds roles on offense and defense i love pods as well but hes already getting alot of minutes and run but they’re our only safe valve being tht they are the only players on our team that are athletic can play d and are getting better each day
Focus on developing the youngins as they should’ve been doing. There’s no move out there that’s going to make Warriors contenders for another title right now. The youngins were the only bright spot of last season AND Warriors need to revamp this offseason around curry it’s played out, the league caught up.
The young players are in the playoffs I am not trading the youth for older players.
