Choke Job By the Denver Nuggets OR Minnesota was the Better Team? | THE ODD COUPLE

all right Rob well look um one of the things that made my weekend so good was the Minnesota Timberwolves doing exactly what I said they would do which is beating the Denver Nuggets in seven games now it’s just fun to be right you know you know that Rob we throw out our predictions and you love to we Thrive for it are you kidding in the first half Chris I I had baby oil going okay I just want you to know that yeah ain’t no baby oil going now that’s for Dar I’m just telling you cuz after the Knicks lost in seven you remember I had the Pacers baby oil I was feeling good I was feeling good and uh that did not come to fruition okay well here’s why it didn’t come to fruition here was what R Parker after game five when the Nuggets took a 3-2 lead a microwave take here we go time to reheat an old hot take that’s gone cold my heades are not icle in the middle it’s microwave take with The Odd Couple I’m feeling the same way about Denver and uh I think that this is a six game series as well and Minnesota doesn’t win again wow well what you didn’t hear is Chris bruer you’re a prisoner of the moment you’re always wrong yic is better than Shaq all of that Madness I had to listen to knowing I would be Vindicated but I had to take it and now Rob Parker must eat his words and Rob here’s what I want to ask you I’m not GNA be Bel labor this do you think that what we saw because Denver was 15 and half and 20 Rob in the F in the early in the third quarter like like about 10 and a half minutes left in the third quarter that’s a 28 point turnaround Chris 20 plus the lose by eight no but I’m saying the lose by eight right well and at one point they were down s right you know what I’m saying 30 point yeah so do you think this was a collapse I’m sorry for by uh Denver or was this a great comeback by Minnesota and we know it there’s a mix of both but what what do you think is more predominant I call it a choke and I call it a choke job on Denver’s part Chris not not just it’s two it’s twofold obviously 20 points in the third quarter at home you don’t even have to pour it on all you got to do is kind of match baskets you know what I mean they’re going to have a run you just got to not let it uh string into you know giving up a scoring 14 points in the third quarter having a dud quarter like that where they where they pick up 11 points I mean that that’s the ball game and the other part and why I say it’s a choke is they lost three games at home you can’t be defending champs and and feel like you have a chance to maybe repeat Chris and lose three games at home in a series that you lost four games to three you didn’t lose three games at home and lose four games to one and where you were never in it or whatever you lost a seven game series where you lost three at home including game seven where you were up by 20 uh it’s an ultimate choke job especially by a defending champ see I would disagree and I would say that it was a fantastic comeback by Minnesota and I say that because I feel like you choke when you’re the better team and I think Minnesota proved it was the better team not close I mean seven game series obviously I’m not saying they head and shoulders above the the nuggets but I felt Rob they they outplayed Denver decisively as decisively as you could in a close seven game series like when they lost three in a rowon they won yeah I’m about to explain it they won three out of four as you mentioned in Denver very hard to do they won a game by 45 points led by 50 I mean how that if that isn’t Supremacy I don’t know what is and then in game seven they are down 20 and I’m sure saying to themselves hold up we’ve beaten this team twice on this floor we’ve beaten them by or or LED them by 50 we can definitely outscore them by 20 now and they did it and in fact outscored him by 30 at one point in in the span of you know a little over like about a quarter and a half and robed throughout the series The Seven games check this out the timber wolves were superior to the nuggets in every single way they scored more points over the seven games they shot better from the field they made more free throws they had more rebounds more assists more steals more blocks and fewer turnovers they beat them in every way now close but they beat him what Denver had was the best player in the world but as far as the team Minnesota’s better they rob their best player if joic goes seven six for 24 like Anthony Edwards did is there any way Denver’s winning no well but that that answers my question I mean that that builds my case on why it was such a choke job by Denver Chris just because of that reason Anthony Edwards has has a horrendous 6 for2 4 shooting game yeah that’s I’m talking about shooting and you lose that game at home when you’re up by 20 it’s a it’s a choke other players stepped up it’s a but that’s a that’s a choke J McDaniels Carl you can’t count on when you’re guy you can’t count on them every night but they but they I get it but that’s why I say it’s a choke yeah I I I don’t think like I said I think that it was a great comeback um but Denver or Minnesota’s depth and their defense that’s what they had we know Denver didn’t have the depth that it had last year and ultimately that came back to bite him Rob uh Denver had four players in the series average double figure points Minnesota has six Minnesota played a game without Rudy gobear and then another game without Mike connley like they they played two games without a starter I mean so they they just Pro to me they proved that they were the best better team simple as that I got Minnesota going all the way Rob um I I I give you know Dallas obviously a chance I got Minnesota in six but I think you know Dallas is a good team um so who is your at this point who do you cuz I think you had picked Denver to win it all I’m taking Dall take Dallas now you got Dallas yep and now people will still be mad because the European player will still wind up being in the mix I know we’ve seen some uh American basketball ball is back now because the jok I saw that from Nick Young yeah but I’m not that doesn’t make sense no I don’t I thought the same you know what I’m saying I mean Anthony Edwards is is wonderful and we all you know like him but he at this point Rob he Ain he’s not better than jic thank you I mean that’s what I that’s what I thought like okay they won the series but let’s not get let’s not get crazy yeah I mean sometimes Rob people because when you have a debate about players and who’s better whether it’s goat whether it’s just two players who’s better and because rings are a part of the discussion Rob or wins are a part of the discussion some people take go overboard and to the extreme and feel like just because you won your team won means you as an individual player are better it doesn’t mean that I just talked about Rob the depth how that’s what you know saved Minnesota and and able them to Prevail so yeah um but it’s a good win and is in Rob we are talking we talked about this a week or two ago this is the era of parody this will be the sixth new champion in uh or six different Champions right in the last six years and the winner has never gotten past the second round in it the following year after they won that’s crazy it is and it and it feels good I mean Rob we know know the 70s the league was was really messed up a lot of drug use there was a lot of stuff going on right and for the first half of the decade half of the best players in the world were in the ABA not the NBA so it was a lot of lot that the league had going on that it had to correct right but now delay all of that it it was it was not good now if the parity to me is is good because you had all these great young players joic uh Anthony Edwards Luca Jason Tatum let’s see what John morand looks like when he comes back well he’s almost on the back burner isn’t he I well he is right now but that obviously I mean I would imagine he can still play he’s been out of the league for a year and a half I’m just saying it’s just unfor but I I haven’t forgotten about him because I expect him to come back and be I mean people talking about Anthony Edwards J wasn’t just as good he wasn’t the defender Edwards is but he was F fantastic so I you’ve got a lot of these great young players ra kind of fighting uh to see which one can maybe take over this era I didn’t even mention Giannis and embiid and guys like that so it is very exciting

THE ODD COUPLE: Chris Broussard and Rob Parker debate whether the Denver Nuggets choked the series away against the Minnesota Timberwolves or the Timberwolves were just the better team.

  1. Why does media go out of its way to protect this white athletes. They are doing it with Clark and the Joker. If this was Lebron the conversation would not be going this way.

  2. This is not the definition of a choke even the lakers were in position to take 2 games in denver in there series i suggest you remember the 80s 90s style of play with lock down defenders and defense.

  3. Hard to call Denver chokers when they won the NBA title last year. Coming from a Wolves fan. The refs were even giving the entire Denver Nuggets staff BlowJs the entire series and it still ended up being an evenly matched series in which the more hungry team ended up on top. Wolves were the hungrier team and are the hungrier team heading into the conference finals against Dallas. Wolves may lose, but they are a buzzsaw right now. Nobody wants to take the Wolves seriously, we love that. Do we make it past this series? maybe. Do we win it all? maybe. gotta take it one game at a time and gotta play the games.

  4. I think T-wolves gonna win the whole thing. They always said defense win you championship, that's what the Wolves had. If you look at teams that won championship, they always build for physical and have big men except the Warriors, Warriors just play good and entertaining basketball. Lakers, Bucks and Nuggets won the championship cause their team built for physical and big men. And same thing for Wolves this year. I hope Wolves win, the ways they play, they deserve to win.

  5. Not taking anything away from Minnesota, but most of the players on Denver underperformed overall in the 12 playoff games this year. Jamal averaged 21 pts on 40/32/92 splits as the second option. Last year, Jamal avg. 26 pts on 47/40/93 splits.

  6. Jokic and Murray combined for 69 points. Everyone else, including MPJ combined for 21 points. I don't have a college degree, but last time I checked 6>2

  7. Ja better watch out he doesn't turn out like Bobby shmurder – who went to prison at the height of his career and came out years later to find out the world had moved on and forgotten about him.

  8. I’m seeing a lot of hate here from emotional people. Jokic looked absolutely gassed in that 3rd quarter and took awful shots. To his credit, I thought he tried to take over when everyone else went cold, but there’s only so much he could do when the TWolves saw that nobody could make anything happen and felt safe in tripling Jokic. He was also awful defensively, and overall as the star of the Nuggets deserves blame for how this played out. That being said, as a Nuggets fan you could see this coming. Coming off of a championship, and improving offensively and arguably defensively, somehow Jokic’s assists went down (regression to the mean by teammates who had a great shooting year during the championship run) and Murray stayed injured most of the year, culminating in Jokic working extra-hard post all star break with Murray missing most of the games leading up to the playoffs. Peyton Watson was a bright spot for the bunch, then barely saw any play time during the Conference Semis while the Nuggets couldn’t get any stops. Sure he’s limited offensively, but is he worse offensively than Gobert? The Nuggets couldn’t stop anybody on the TWolves so why didn’t Watson get any play time? MPJ was also a negative on both sides of the ball, and Jamal Murray had good halves, but couldn’t string together a single good game. Overall a lot of people deserve the blame, but to put Jokic at the top of the list, when he’s literally the last reason they lost, and humble (giving credit to Minnesota) while having his teammates’ backs’, is just hate.

  9. The Nuggets actually win because of the size of their complimentary players to Jokic and Murray. Porter , Gordon and KCP all have great size . But the Wolves are bigger and stronger than them. The Lakers are a soft team . Lebron and AD kinda match Jokic and Murray. AD cant stop Jokic, but JOkic cant stop AD. They always just get beat by Aaron Gordon, Porter and KCP. Hence the games are always close.

  10. Don't blame the Denver nuggets..blame the joker!!! When they lose it's the team but when they win it's because the joker won! Welcome to white race media!!

  11. Haha I hear ya Chris 😂😂Anthony Edwards was right about one thing, he said in an interview that “If the refs give us a fair one in Denver for game 7 we winnin that!!”

  12. I have to agree with Chris, in a league where defense is defunct it’s like the Wolves have made defense enjoyable to watch again

  13. Coach Malone RAN HIS STARTERS INTO THE GROUND. DeAndre Jordan, Peyton Watson, Zeke Nnaji , Justin Holiday and yes, Julian Strawther are never considerations into his rotation to at least give your starters a breather. At some point as a coach you’ve gotta play and coach up who’s on your roster. Nuggets lose for more reasons than just a choke job coach Malone has no feel for subbing in and out players at the right time during the course of a game.

  14. Both. Minnesota is a better team, and the Nuggets choked, cause when you're up 20 with less than half the game left and you lose it's a choke no matter what the other team does. With that being said, the Nuggets need to thank Jokic everyday, cause without him they ain't making the play in

  15. 😆 damn what Rob got against the wolves. If it's Boston and the wolves he's going to pick Boston as well 😆
