You very obviously didn’t watch basketball at the time of Vince carter and that’s ok. What that man did for an entire country, truly inspired a generation of young hoopers that are in the league now. I love Lowry as much as any raptor fan but without VC there might not be a Canadian team left in the NBA.
Most modern NBA teams don’t retire jerseys anymore and when they make exceptions it’s because that person is the embodiment of that team and often times that player is the first thing you think of when you mention that team. For example. Lebron could get his jersey retired in Miami but might not. Lebron will definitely get his jersey retired in Cleveland because of what he did for the city not just the team. Also there’s no other player to play for them worth a damn. But arguably Lebron did more in Miami than Cleveland. But Bron is the first and sometimes only player you think of when you say Cleveland cavaliers
Just wanna say that Vince Carter definitely ranks above demar derozoan as an all time raptor even had better numbers, and if kawhi Leonard dosent go gift Lowry a chip he ahead of him too
I can agree, Derozan, Lowry or Bosh should be first; but he deserves to het his jersey retired. If you were living during that time, Air Carter was must watch TV. Every kid got on their Nike Shox and Raptor gear. He was sensational. It's similar to how people are glazing Anthony Edwards now; that was him day 1 until they parted ways with TOR. Yeah the accolades weren't there but the impact on Toronto/Canada basketball, much less world basketball alone, is insane.
