Never forget the Celtics had to run through this Eastern conference gauntlet in 22. We deserve our “cakewalk path” this year.

  1. Deserve because of 2022? Nah. We deserve it because of our record this year.

  2. All we need is a chip, don’t matter how we get it. Then all the talking heads can suck it, our boys will be champions.

  3. Holiday-Usual-3600

And you don’t get credit for taking a harder path

People talk about dirks ring to a degree but other than that no one really talks about toughest road to a ring.

If they lose they are frauds, if they win, it’s a super team

WHO TF CARES get the ring we can argue about the validity later (never)

  4. Nobody gives a shit about the harder path. Nuggets had an easy af path last year. Warriors had a pretty easy path in their title year. Both those chips are still talked about. Thank god we have an easy path this year, every other team in the postseason has been battling it out for weeks and our boys just chilling, makes me feel so much better about a potential Finals berth

  5. WE EANRED THIS PATH BY BEING THE 1 SAID, LIKE EVERY 1 SEED BEFORE US.

  6. DizzyTS13

You play hard to get the 1 seed to get the theoretical “easy” path, they did the job in the regular season and put themselves in position for the pieces to fall like they have. These are all pros, a win is a win, anyone can beat anyone on a given night at this level, can’t take anything for granted

  7. gottapeenow2

Back in the days when Ime had them playing like warrior poets! Up 2-1 in the finals too…

Complete side note but 2022’s run with the ring on top of it would have fed families coming back from being a .500 ball club to title contenders with finishing with the best defense in the league would have been so insane sucks our boys came up short but it fell justified as our guys don’t make those same mistakes compared to 2 years ago aside from the rosters being completely different. we good either way this year I seriously believe we’re gonna get it done for sure and nobody not gonna have nothing to say

  9. AliveGloryLove

Idk why it’s the Celtics’ fault they made shrewd moves to build a roster than can sustain injuries and win 64 games in a year.

Other teams having injured stars and falling apart is their fault.

  10. Crazy how getting the one seed easily and having breathing room in the standings to rest your starters is beneficial to a playoff run! We earned the cakewalk path

  11. lovetheoceanfl

Man, I don’t get these takes yet. The Pacers are not going to be a cakewalk.

  12. We earned the easy path by dominating the regular season and having the best record. I hate the media narrative about us. It’s infuriating.

  13. PackageMerchant

People are talking shit Brad is going to have to rebuild like 3 teams in the east himself to prove a point

Nah fuck em just get a chip people are always going to try and disrespect the Celtics. I’d be mad too

  14. Hurricanemasta

You can only play the teams in front of you. What are we supposed to do? Ask the Globetrotters to sub in? Denver won last year by beating a #4, two #7s, and a #8. But I don’t give a shit, they won, everyone else didn’t.

  15. rired1963

well we sucked against an easy opponent (Miami) last year so I guess that proves schedules don’t mean anything. so absurd.

  16. Full-Flight-5211

It seems like the Twolves are going through something similar in the West lol

  17. Renegrader1023

Man the vibes after that nets series were all time high

  18. PatriotMissiles

This won’t be a cakewalk the rest of the way.

  19. PresentTranslator157

Injuries are a part of the game, sometimes more like this year or sometimes less. Out of anyone’s control so you just have to beat the opponent in front of you

  20. aja_ramirez

Can we stop being to defensive about this already?!? If we win the title, no one will remember anything but that.

  21. PrometheusAborted

I hate all the discussion about “path to the finals” and all that shit. Pats used to hear it most of our Super Bowl runs too.

Everyone starts the playoffs with a 0-0 record and nothing you did in the regular season matters. Look at Indy.

It’s the same in every sport and at least once every year a 1 or 2 seed gets bounced in the first round. Philly constantly, the Bruins 🙁 etc.

There are no “cakewalks” to a championship.

  22. Lmao cake walk are y’all crazy the pacers can be dangerous if they play up to their potential this Celtic team often lets people who ain’t supposed to beat them win especially this season

  23. snooze1128

Buckle in boys – 8 down , 8 to go let’s bring it home 🏆

  24. Supreme_God_Bunny

What’s terrifying is those nets games weren’t even blowouts like the nets honestly could have taken that series to 6 or 7 had they not been brain dead a little

  25. Ok_Seaweed_9452

On the other hand, Pacers went through Bucks, and Knicks as lower seed, don’t let them get past us lol

  26. LeBron’s most impressive East runs, by opponent records, came in 2011 and 2018. The years you pay your dues aren’t always the same as the years you win your titles.

  27. joeyspatulas52

You can’t choose who you play, you can only win or lose games. A ring is a ring.

  28. The only people calling it a cake walk are the haters. Do you think the Celtics consider it a cake walk? I’m sure they understand it’s been about as easy as it can be to this point but I doubt they consider it to be a cake walk. And given we are going to be facing either Dallas or Minnesota I don’t exactly call it a cake walk.

Edit – I understand we still have to make the finals and if (and when) we do that will be our choice of opponents.

  29. Wonderful_Eagle_6547

The reality is that the teams who win often are the ones who have a path opened up for them. I don’t think anybody since the 2018 Warriors were good enough that they would have won without some significant luck with injuries and opponents. Last year’s Nuggets team won by defeating four 45 win or less teams. The 2020 Lakers avoided the 5 best teams by Net Rating. The 21 Suns beat the Lakers with half an Anthony Davis, swept the Nuggets without Murray, and beat the Clippers without Kawhi the same year the Bucks avoided the 76ers and full-strength Brooklyn Nets. This isn’t new either. Even some all-time great teams like the ’87 Lakers made the finals playing three .500 teams and wiped out a decimated Celtics club. The last team I can think of that really ran the gauntlet was the beautiful game Spurs in 2014, when they beat a 49 win Mavs team in 7 games in round 1, a tough 54 win Blazers team in round 2, and a hungry OKC Thunder team before their finals match-up with the Heatles. I guess you could say one or two of those Warriors titles were tough, but they were so much better than the rest of the league they all just seemed like foregone conclusions (like going 16-1 in the 2017 playoffs).
