[Music] [Applause] [Music] not today not today wow what a game snatching Victory from the jaws of defeat Tyrese Maxi incredible what a sequence at the end of the game what a win Sixers live to see another day they got game six back here at home on Thursday welcome here to Sixers postgame live brought to you by K and ins I’m completely amped up because that game was bananas the game was bananas and it was amazing and we’re here for it Jim what a performance by Tyrese Maxi and really there was a lot of guys that contributed especially down the stretch yeah for sure I mean just a spectacular win you talk about gut a game out how about Maxi he scores a four fourpoint field goal and then ties the game with a three-point field goal and all said it from sked he he was standing on the M of the match Square Garden logo to make that shot and then how about to your point Amy of getting help from all kinds of people baton blocks jayen Brunson shot at the buzzer at the other end to send it in overtime W I watched it and Jim’s describing it and I have Goosebumps like I just living it and we’re living and dying out here I wish you guys could see maybe not see us because it’s a little bit colorful at times out here but it gets so intense and you’re living and dying on every bucket and and we got to be honest when they went down five and then six points in the Crux of the game in the fourth quarter you’re thinking no no and Tyrese Maxi said yes ex come back when you think it’s over that guy Maxi with that smile just steps up to the plate Tyrese Maxi was exceptional tonight he literally took this game over he said listen everybody fatigue I got a little left in the tank let me give it all right now and he took this game over on both ends of the floor he hit some big shots and he wanted it that’s what I love about it playoff career high 46 17 in the fourth quarter 17 points in the fourth quarter we’re going to talk about the rebounding how much better that was this game was all over the place there was turnovers of Plenty but when you needed to gut out a game that is the Nick’s style of basketball gutting out the game getting a gritty win how important was it for the Sixers to show that they can win a game like this oh no there’s no question uh you know they they took a page out of if in fact the Knicks had that and was the reason for the 3-1 lead at this point well the six took a page out of that book and Joel embiid I’m going to say the same for him was he right no offensively he struggled but you saw that play at the end when the sers had out that ball he literally Dove he gave up his body and he Dove this was his body parallel to the ground going after a ball Sixers to a man really gut at this one out star of the show Tyrese Maxi what else can you say about him we got a hear from him here he is with Taran Hatcher all right Tyrese you came into a hostile environment back up against the wall loud crowd in here that really came at you guys and you come out with a huge win what did it take to get this one done for tonight from inside the team point of view 53 hard minutes from everybody man everybody who stepped on that Court stepped up uh Tobias Harris was huge uh he started off from the jump knocking down shots playing tough defense and rebounding uh 46 points from you nine assists as well and I noticed when you were in the Huddle it it wasn’t just cheerful let’s go guys it seemed like there was almost a little bit of like anger behind it we want to survive this tonight what was your mindset in this game uh man I just I don’t want to stop playing I don’t want to stop playing man I just I love basketball we love basketball you know we have a chance to go out there and do something special so we going out there and find our tails off you know 48 53 minutes however long it takes and uh we got to win two more one at a time now you get to go back home what do you hope to accomplish when you get home what do you think it’s going to take to get it done from the hometown crowd same thing a lot of grit a lot of tough toughness and uh I think we showed that tonight thank you so much tyes congratulations me show the toughness he said it 53 tough hardfought minutes got to go game by game but they he didn’t want to stop playing I mean you always say it about this kid ball is life he lives for basketball his face after he shot that three and it went in I mean that’s just that’s the game right there that’s the picture of this game here is a guy that put the team on his back and you had to have it Mark you have to have this win and you have to they’re not going to give it to you have to take it Maxi sorry Maxi took this game tonight he took this game by by these by the borns and he took it from the New York Knicks in their home that tells you what kind of competitor this guys yes he has this this boyish smile but his heart is like a lion this was a gutsy game because this you see a lot of turnovers that happened late in this game and it wasn’t cuz these are two bad teams it was just flat out fatigue exhausting they was dead tired both teams but the the guy who was the best conditioned at the end of the night prevailed at the end as Tyrese Maxi he won most improved player he was MVP of game five there is absolutely no doubt about it let’s check out the final minute of this game because it was intense this is regulation here you can see the Sixers down four with 40 seconds to go when this starts and Jim why don’t you take us through what you’re seeing here yeah McBride makes a nice little move they trap Brunson see it and he knocks down this jumper with 2 what 8 seconds to go to give the Nicks a sixo lead yeah I mean this game is over obviously at this point well guess what Maxi has another idea that’s that play that Nick nurse likes to run to free him up he knocks down a three ball and gets fouled on the play cuts it to four wow the Sixers yeah cuts it two was a four play right St and then that’s the foul was called and Hart’s going to miss one of these two free throws yes misses the first he’s going to make the second to make it a three-point game they’re going to run a little pick and roll no timeout with embiid setting and watch how high alen before he sets it set Maxi up on the new on the end for New York the New York signs where he launched it from he set the pick basically just over the timeline to free him up at what 30 ft 28 ft andun goes on a drive and at the buzzer Paton takes it and throws it wow I mean if you weren’t nervous watching that game that’s as clutch as it gets and you see how fired up I mean he is an emotional guy Mark you know that but he is absolutely fired up to be down six six points and then to single-handedly get this team back in into overtime so over time you’re thinking uh oh the Knicks look like they had a little momentum plays like you know that but then defensively turning into offense at the other end is incredible incredible and we had not seen that Mark absolutely dwell stepped up huge for us and then second half defensively alra shot getting a deflection off jelen Brunson and then it causing transition for us and then right here look at this oops get your hand out the cookie jar young man cuz I want a snack and you just got taken and right here watch this come off here and hard Ste sent some incredible screen and look at this when a game was on the line this man on one leg with a with problems with his face is find a way to make a play and watch this they call this a flagrance to me watching this yes he did himit in the face I literally thought they would upgrade there to a flagrant because he did make contact with before he hit the ball and he grabbed his arm I thought they would call F and they did I think I think the ruling is because he hit his face I I don’t think it’s an intentional one he was going Jaylen bumped into him and then was fading away but it doesn’t matter he makes them both a one of two that’s right one of two and then so you’ve got the 106 103 he misses this one there’s still lots of time left in this one Jim no question so they get the ball he made the three and then you’re thinking uhoh tie but for for some reason I don’t know misplace optimism on my part I thought okay your tie game with a minute to go what a nice high low there K gets a friendly bounce too far in the basket still got to go he was looking for a foul didn’t get it and then there was a Sixers turnover but then they turn it right back over this I mean this is fatigue there’s guys playing 49 48 minutes at this point uh Mark said it and if you look at the minutes from the bench Amy very very limited for an overtime game right these guys are both both these teams are just exhausted that’s an exhaustion play right there uh by Brunson and then you’re seeing here Tobias Harris gets fouled and he abou these are huge massive to go up for and make it a two possession game with under 16 seconds to go Tobias stepped up with 19 points and eight rebounds he started off very well in this game and he finished strong so you hear this is a huge I mean good d by by baton again on the Brunson drive and then you saw what Joe did to secure that ball heads up play to call timeout look how he did it said he ran to the referee and put his hand right in t to play Joel was trying to call it as well we’re fonetic because that game was absolutely fantastic what a win Sixers come back for game six on Thursday Nick nurse he’s always subdued but I know he’s got to be feeling it after this one let’s check in with him do you mind taking us through the end of regulation from where you wereing specifically what you saw from Tyrese well we you know we had to we had to get up the floor uh quick and and get a three ball up right I I glad that we didn’t mess around and try to keep working for something or or whatever we had a little little play called that has a counter to it and one of the options is him just pulling up now I know that was a one but he raced it up there and took his chance what does it say about your team that you were able to got this one out well I think I think I think the um wasn’t the greatest of circumstances I don’t think we played great I think it was all it was was guts we hung in there they made some huge huge runs in the first half um uh they made some really good plays as well to kind of continue to come back at us again it seems like every time we get a four-point lead they’d take the lead again um but mostly we just hung in there man that’s it um sorry and um got put on his heels a lot in this game with Brunson in the thck Roll But in that overtime three big defensive plays in a row to contest on heart I think the strip and then a block where did that where do you think that came from I’m not sure I mean you guys seen him play before he can do those things just not didn’t seem like that was going to appear tonight right he obviously was was not feeling great was a tough game for him you know very difficult but he he he found a he found a way to do that stuff I mean he can move his feet he can block shots he can strip the ball we’ve all seen him do that when he’s when he’s super engaged and trying to get a stop and it was was good that he finally came up and was able to dig dig down and do that on the other end with my turnovers I guess do no that was that was I mean considering the circumstances for sure best game I guess it’s just in my turn HSE from Joel on the other end like what do you think maybe they did maybe bother him or is like yeah I’m going to have to look at him I mean obviously they’re sending a lot of a lot of people at them right I think there’s a again like probably you guys were watching the game I was probably pretty disappointed at the half because we were getting unbelievable shots he was making great reads out of all the double teams we weren’t making any right it gets and it gets it got our defense a little frazzled there too um but he did he did commit some turnovers it looked like he um just just rushed a couple from from what I could tell but I’ll have to look and hopefully have some answers for that coming back and then just to bias like what what you see from him to be able to kind of get going again help us yeah he was he was really good I thought he made the shot of the night to be honest with you we were down five and spinning out of control and he came down and made a huge super tough 17t turnaround to cut it back to three after the momentum the place was going crazy and that was that was to me was second best shot of the night you know Kelly wasn’t feeling good earlier but had some did okay he did okay he was really struggling laboring through some moments out there as you guys probably saw um but when when he finally got off the floor he said just give me a few minutes and I’ll be ready to go back so it was good I mean he worked hard and don’t think he feels great but went into the decision to give Joel that minute or so of rest in the fourth quarter was his just about and seeming to run out of gas yeah he he just had a really really really uncharacteristic stretch of plays right just like felt like we just had to had to grab him something and try to at least talk to him and give him a minute or two to to settle down did you get a sense I you mention you wasn’t feeling great did you get a sense more than migraines was me I don’t I don’t know but he certainly wasn’t feeling great what do you work on for what can we work on well I think that um uh it’s always going to be a lot of blown defensive things that we did that we got to try to cut down like just schematically you know usually in these kind of games you want to you’re going to make mistakes but you got to keep it around the six to nine where you just blow the scheme we probably had about 15 of them tonight got to figure those out and then I just think there’s probably a little better Rhythm we can play offense as well I know it’s probably hard zoom out from where you’re sitting right now but understanding what Tyrese was able to do tonight at 23 years old where where does that sort of in context rank among Great Performances you’ve seen or how did you see it well I think um considering that our number one option was was um struggling right for him to kind of say all right I got to I got to put put this team on my back and go and uh just kept encouraging him like to to take his take his chances take his shots make plays um and he and he certainly did it he got in a rhythm and made a whole bunch of them thanks thanks everybody I mean I’m still just like Beyond excited it just what a game what an absolute you heard Nick nurse say it like we they gutted it out there’s hard to look at anything except for guts on that one Tyrese Maxi what he did down six points with under 30 seconds to go and people are thinking the Knicks fans are standing up this is it we’re excited we’re going to go ahead and he said not today the amount that you have to reach down he played 52 minutes of a 53 minute game to reach down Jim this kid is 23 years of age and get that and make those buckets is just incredible yeah and Nick nurse you heard him just say it when your number one option you know he’s like not not there in terms of being able to carry the load going down the stretch of a game meaning you throw the ball to him and he’s going to be able to do his thing for a young guy like Maxi to realize that and say no my turn and step up to the level that he did I mean it just was Sensational and the teammates have to look to him one because they see this guy work all the time Mark theyve seen him be rewarded time and time again but to have a game like this and that’s the ultimate reward it is Amy it’s a reward when you get to win a a game for your team that seemed like it was over at one point it seemed like you know it might have been the end of the season and you put this team on your back it it it’s just not it’s just like we always said confidence come from preparation if you prepare yourself correctly you’re prepared for anything out there and Max show you he works his tell off and that’s what happened and let me get that straight he slid in the draft because he couldn’t shoot the jumper right I just wanted to seven for seven for 12 from three 58% just saying thank you so much uh this is the best version we could ever play for you as we play clap your hands it’s the best because it means they’re coming back for game six we got
