for Alex Caruso Alex kuso actually joked about it after being named to the second team because as you look at the first team there’s just a ton of Defenders on I’m sorry just a ton of big men on there and he kind of joked that I guess all of the Guard cards were all relegated to the all NBA second team and my question to you guys is was Alex kuso robbed of all NBA Defensive first team and I guess let’s start here right like let’s start going through some of these and kind of pick out where you feel the first team the second team and the third team kind of fits in here’s the first team for you and he’s not joking when you look at a lot of these guys but there’s a case for every one of these guys maybe Anthony Davis you could take off but right now this year bam anab bio Anthony Davis Rudy Gober herb Jones Victor wanyama all Elite Defenders all guys I mean you got Rudy Gober of course Defensive Player of the Year Victor wanyama who many people believe uh should have won uh the defensive player of the year award and there are some out there who are saying that he was robbed uh babo I think should have been in the running for that as well I think he’s one of the better on ball Defenders but he seems to never get any love Anthony Davis is interested to me though and that’s kind of where I start to see this Anthony Davis and Herb Jones to me wow really really good Defenders at what point do we start to kind of look at it and say okay you know like yes he’s a really good Defender but what does Alex Caruso impact on his team defensively I would argue that Alex Caruso is more of an impactful defender on uh uh um as far as being able to guard more positions being able to guard uh uh um what’s the right way I want to put this as far as being able to go out there and be able to do whatever the team asks of him not to say that herb Jones isn’t that I think he kind of Falls in that but Anthony Davis to me I mean I I don’t want to see Anthony Davis guarding point guards I don’t want to see Anthony Davis guarding you know small forwards it happens at times as spot starts yes he’s a really good rim protector but I just feel like Caruso getting all defensive second team it was like you were going with the big man theme here and you felt like you needed to put guys in there who just block shots and and not again these are really good Defenders so I don’t want it to just be relegated to oh he’s just a paint defender or he’s just a shot blocker but AC to me I mean he’s a guy who can defend anybody you need any place you want any any uh uh area of the Court you need uh covered he can cover it he’s playing the passing Lanes he’s forcing guys to to always watch their backs because you never know when he’s coming through for the strip I think he impacts the game defensive kind of in a similar way like a Rudy Gober does kind of in a similar way like a Victor wama does where not to say that he’s standing in the paint and he’s blocking away a million shots a game and nobody can get down there but you always have to game plan your offense around okay where is this guy defensively who is he guarding at this point because we can’t go to that player he changes how people play offense that’s what how you gauge defensive players I know a lot of people look at these defensive player the years I know a lot of people look at these uh uh um you know like the Rudy goar right we saw a lot of oh his defensive player of the year is inv balid because niika yic cooked him all right guys let’s breathe a little bit how many great Defenders how many great Defenders were in the 90s I mean great I mean like guys that like to this day you can still look at the defensive rating and go that guy is one of the greatest Defenders of all time how many of them stopped Michael you know what I mean it’s difficult to start stop the best player in the world but the reason you give a Rudy gobear the reason Victor wanyama is in those conversations for defensive player the year at least to me is because I got to change my entire offense around these guys I’m not going to the paint and I feel that same way about how Alex Caruso played his game this season because with a with AC I mean you’re not sitting there and being unaware of where he is on the floor he ranked fourth in steals per game 1.7 he ranked seven in defensive box plus minus 2.3 yeah I mean like he he was a guy who you often had to worry about coming through and shutting down somebody who you felt was going to be a big impact on your offense now with how the rest of this Bulls defense shapes up I could kind of understand why the rest of yeah why he’s not a defensive player to your candidate and things like that you have to be winning you have to be at the top you have to be able to shut guys down shut teams down right and and then people kind of look at you as that Defensive Player of the Year candidate but I absolutely think Alice cruso should have been an all defensive first team cand Cate uh uh this season I think that second team like he said I I love the fact that he joked about it but I I do believe that second team was really just relegated for the guards like they were like you know what U we’re going to put the bigs up here we’re going to let guys who have a little more wingspan a little more length pause crazy uh get on here and so and the second team is not a bad spot to be on I mean you got Alice cruso Drew holiday Jaden McDaniels jayen Suggs Derek white I think all of those names belong on this list I think that this is a good list of guys I just think will there ever come a time and I know I know the answer is no right but but I guess should there come a time is the answer where we kind of go back to doing some of this by position should there come a time where we kind of go back to okay here’s the best point guard Defender here’s the best shooting guard Defender here’s the best small forward Defender and I know it’s it’s a lot more difficult now because you have guys playing all over the place right uh uh um uh what Am I who am I thinking of freaking Luca donic uh that’s the thing Luca donic to me he’s a small forward right but he’s a point guard you know what I mean so it’s like it’s like how do you differentiate between Luca who always has the ball in his hands but more than likely is going to be guarding the three how do you how do you differentiate how do you go back and forth on that right so I know that that makes it a lot more more difficult but I do just feel like we’ve kind of gone to the gotten to this point with a lot of these Awards with a lot of these lists with a lot of these you know Honors that we see all NBA all defensive team I mean like a lot of these times where you just sit there and you’re you’re looking at four small forwards or four you I mean four centers or whatever it is because you you’ve going to this position L basketball and because right center is the easy position to pick out out of that right you’re not sitting here trying to figure out okay is this guy point guard or power forward which again it wouldn’t be that difficult to figure out because you just log you just look at how many minutes somebody played at a position and then you log them as that but maybe that’s too structured nowadays for how the NBA is playing its game but to me I I just feel like you know really really missed out on an opportunity here for Caruso to be able to get that all defensive first team and uh listen I I’ll say this does this change anything about how the Chicago Bulls move in the future I think there is a benefit here um for a guy like Alex Caruso because to me the price goes up and you had people willing to pay a hefty price last season but I think that the price goes up if you were to move on from an ALICE Caruso I think that the price goes up if teams are calling for Alex Caruso and I think that that does benefit the Chicago Bulls I guess how it benefits Alex Caruso is he doesn’t have to sit here and come into a team that’s probably going to win 37 games next season but that’s a whole different conversation for a different day but I just I don’t know man like I I look at this for AC I look at this for uh um you know for for the future of the Bulls as a good thing I’m glad that AC was able to get the honor of being an all defensive second team also won hustle Player of the Year this year so he’s getting honored with a lot of stuff this year uh and you know I just it’s very interesting I feel like they gave him the hustle player of the year because they knew they were putting them all defensive second team as well there’s also that to me uh coming up on the show Josh giddy rumors are flying around apparently OKC will be shopping Josh giddy this summer but is that going to mean that the Chicago Bulls should dip their toe into the Josh giddy trade market you notice how I said that the right way we’re not dipping our toe into people just into trade markets Josh giddy is reportedly being made available by the Oklahoma City Thunder uh this is interesting because uh Evan Cinder uh tweeted this out uh that the Thunder are widely expected to shop Josh giddy in trade talks this offseason who has now become extension El OKC will likely attempt to trade giddy alongside some of their 13 future first round picks to secure an impact player who is a cleaner rotation fit and my question is is there somebody like this on the Chicago Bulls right now now giddy coming in if they were to pick up his Club option and trade him on that uh he would be making about $8 million on that come in as a one-year player possibly work some things out maybe and you’re able to resign him to an extension if they do sign him to an extension right that number would be a little bit different maybe they’re trying to match monies but how much money are you willing to pay Josh giddy but here’s the Baseline for me and I know there’s so many 18 jokes uh uh coming on this episode but when I look at a guy like Josh kidy I do believe that there is a value there is a talent there that the Chicago Bulls could utilize and the reason that I say this and I know he had down games he was horrible against the Mavericks but he kind of went for being that guy who always had the ball in his hands always was able to operate uh uh and run the offense to more of a Hey listen kind of you’re in the background buddy you’re you’re you’re kind of just back there um and and make sure that you don’t screw up but I love the fact that there’s a guy who is available all of a sudden who has been a pretty good passer a a six plus assist guy at times a solid rebounder a guy who shoots a decent percentage he’s not an elite shooter but I’m not looking for him to be an offensive player but who last year was averaging 16 points per game uh when he was being an offensive player how he was able to get to the bucket how he was able to score how he was able to facilit the fact that he can be somebody who is an offensive player who I think plays also a little bit of solid defense it’s not great I’m not going to sit here and tell you that Josh giddy is a clamp but I think that you could get somebody in here who could run this offense who could feel you know like that point guard position is a little bit more comfortable for you than you’ve seen in the past and who you know can get everybody else involved I think that that’s very important for what this Bulls team wants to do we saw how the point guard position leaving this team really affected did Lonzo or really affected the rest of this Bulls team and how they wanted to run their system I think that this would be a very intriguing get for the Chicago Bulls if they were able to do it and the question is what level of player would you be willing willing to part with for a guy like Josh giddy now all jokes aside let me know your comments in the comments below do you think that Josh giddy would be somebody interesting for the Chicago Bulls to go out there and get as a point guard for this team to me and and this is just based on the money that is currently on the table I would be willing to move somebody like an IO dumu I would be willing to move somebody like and Alex Caruso for a guy like Josh giddy um and the reason that I say this is because I think that one when we talk about Caruso’s value going up I believe if you were to move Caruso for a player like giddy one you’re able to get some of those first round picks that they’re talking about because like I said the price goes up and two right they get their impact player they get that guy a rotation fit they get that guy who can go out there defensively and be able to do some really good things but still contribute offensively maybe even still holding on to that facilitating that they’re looking for because Shay’s gonna have the ball in his hands but AC can absolutely be an off ball passer facilitator you know what I mean like there’s a lot of good things that AC is able to do and I’d be willing to make that move because I think Josh gidy gives you a little more future security as far as a point guard on this team now you’re allowing Kobe white maybe to play a little more off ball be able to play kind of that combo guard role I love that maybe in this situation you’re holding on to a guy like Demar de rozan or you’re holding on to a guy like Zack LaVine but you are changing up the core right like you’re changing up kind of the the core of how things work and you’re going back to okay we had a point guard in this situation when we had a point guard this thing seemed like it worked I don’t know if it worked all that well but it seemed like it worked and Josh giddy coming to the Chicago B I think that he would be somebody who would constantly have the ball in his hands constantly be able to make you know be the playmaker on this team if you need Kobe white to kind of Step In in that scenario I’d be fine with that as well if you hold on to IOD dumo in that scenario right maybe you can have a starting lineup That is uh uh Josh giddy Kobe white um and you go I guess I said you’re holding on to deardo R Roan here so you got demard r roen p will and Nicol lavich or some variation right I’m still under the assumption that they’re trying to move Zack LaVine that he’s the piece that they’re more willing to move on from um but I think Josh gy brings the brings the value of your team up listen somebody who can run the point guard position is a is a lost gem in this NBA and we’ve seen how point guards have really affected so a true point guard has really affected some of what um how a lot of NBA players have kind of taken that next step you see when Devin Booker got with Chris Paul right when a lot of guys were able to get with Russell W Westbrook uh uh when you look at those point guards who are looking to make the pass that those guys don’t really exist anymore as nearly as much but I I’ll say this right even how Tyrese halberton really elevated people’s games I know he lost last night but Al Tyrese halberton was able to elevate guys games uh by him showing up in Indiana yes he’s a scorer but also one of the best facilitators in the NBA he gets guys involved he gets his teammates involved and so I think that’s something that you would love to have as a value piece I almost look at Josh Giddy and I know that this is crazy but I almost look at him as kind of like a very very very very great value uh Jason kid um a guy who I’m not looking forward to be Uber offensive right I’m I don’t need you shooting threes I don’t need you uh um putting up 25 a night what I do need you to do is making sure that you have everybody on this floor involved that that you have everybody on this floor at their Peak that you have everybody on this floor playing their game and I think that Josh giddy can bring that value again I know down season um defin took a step back this year but I also believe that you know first off everything at the start of the Season plays into that and then minutes going down drastically this season uh there’s just there’s some differences that came in there was a lack of belief with him in OKC but there’s also better talent in OKC can we see that change here in Chicago I wouldn’t be mad at a Josh giddy uh trade also average is about to steal a game as well so gets involved defensively so I wouldn’t be mad at Josh gidy trade let me know your thoughts in the comments below uh do you feel like Josh giddy would be a good addition to the Chicago Bulls team and uh also let the jokes begin uh before we get into this final topic where we got to talk about Jerry reinsdorf basically just saying you know I’m not I I don’t know if uh I’m willing to Lakers for probably the dumbest Reas that I’ve ever heard in my life uh Eric pnis of bleach report uh reported this that Chicago Bulls owner J Ryan dorf won’t make trades with the Los Angeles Lakers because he doesn’t want LeBron James infringing on Michael Jordan’s legacy he doesn’t want to help LeBron and the Lakers get better their owner doesn’t want to help uh uh he just doesn’t want to help LeBron and here’s where that problem sets in boys here’s here’s why that’s a problem because in not helping LeBron we’ve clearly seen that this has hurt the Chicago Bulls I get it you don’t want to you don’t want to help with Jordan’s legacy which I listen I I think at this point Jordan’s legacy is what Jordan’s legacy is LeBron’s Legacy is what LeBron’s Legacy is I don’t think LeBron I I guess winning another ring maybe adds to that and and with all the final appearances but what piece are you sending minus Alice Caruso that you think is helping LeBron get another ring is Zack LaVine helping Brian get another ring and I I this is an old school mindset right this is an old school mindset you don’t help your enemies you don’t help the guys that and and I I’ll say this I’ll bet you this goes back even more than just Michael Jordan I’ll bet you this goes back to LeBron coming to Chicago doing the whole thing meeting with the team and then taking his talents to South Beach and realizing that you know this is not going to go how we wanted to go and now we’re here with Derrick Rose Carlos Boozer Joe came no we’re not the ones winning championships because we’re losing to LeBron I get that I understand that beef coming in and I almost understand you sitting there saying you know what I’m not gonna help that guy because he didn’t want to help us fine but what you’re doing is hurting the Bulls you’re hurting the team that you own because the Lakers have have talked trades with you the Lakers have talked about acquiring Zack LaVine the Lakers have talked about acquiring DeMar Ro the Lakers have talked about taking you out of the situation that you refuse to get yourself out of that you’re in right now I feel like every time I do a solo episode something about Jerry comes up and I end up ranting like this don’t worry about that but I’m just saying like this is this is I I would say don’t view this as helping LeBron because I don’t know if you have pieces that can help LeBron right now I don’t know if you have pieces that make LeBron a championship Contender I I don’t know if those pieces exist on this team LeBron James got to the playoffs this year without anything that you had what are you hurting him with what piece do you have like I said outside Alice cruso that you feel puts him over the top and maybe this is the Caruso deal maybe that’s why this guy because we know the Lakers wanted him back we know the Lakers were were widely interested in reacquiring Alex Caruso but what’s the what’s the answer that you’re that you’re looking for here with this team and I get it right Jerry’s not thinking right now Jerry’s not thinking you know three years down the road Jerry’s thinking like listen I’m I’m season by season I’m on this team season by season and I’ll bet you there’s so much of an old mindset here dog like think about how teams used to operate when Kobe was here when Michael was here and you just knew you weren’t going to win championships you just knew you were like we’re not we’re not going to win so they just like kind of we’re going to remain competitive we’re going to do what we can and then once that guy’s gone once he’s out of the league then we’ll be competitive again but it’s not it’s not how things work there’s too many stars yeah Anthony Edwards competing tonight to try and make the NBA finals and he’s 22 he’s gonna be here for a while I don’t know man I don’t know I I think that this is a uh it it’s a bad look for Jerry Ryan storf it’s a bad look for the team overall and the fact that you won’t help LeBron and instead of saying I’m looking to do everything that I can to help the Chicago Bulls I think that’s why we’re here I think that’s a major reason why we’re here and it’s a conversation that I hate having to have every single time we talk about this I’m not even spending that much time on it I just when I saw this report I was sitting here I was like we’re worried about LeBron James in the year 2024 infringing on like what what is changing his legacy short of a championship what’s changing LeBron’s Legacy is he G to score more points he keeps breaking his own record every freaking night is he is he what what is he gonna win a defensive player of the year he mikee still got more another MVP nobody cares although if he did have another MBC MVP season that would be absolutely insane I’m not going to lie 30 30 36 37 years old mvpc crazy work I just I I I hate that we have that that we have an owner in place who is supposed to be Michael’s team right it’s supposed to be Michael Ry dorf’s team and yet at every single turn where something can be changed we hear Jerry reinsdorf stepping in I got uh uh we’ll see we’ll see kind of what this uh what this Bulls team
