Reggie Miller Breaks Down The Pacers Devastating Game 1 Loss To The Celtics | 5/22/24

how do you explain the last 90 seconds with the Pacers last night well let me just say this if you’re a Pacer fan and certainly I am one of them um this has to sting this is a gut punch because look and I’ve heard uh Rick caral come out postgame this loss is on me number one yes he should have called a timeout I know they had one timeout out he should have used it you advance the ball then you have the whole Court to inbound it your front Court as well as the back court you get the ball in you play the free throw game okay so you don’t call timeout that’s fine what another thing I would have done I would have got TJ McConnell in the game gotten Miles Turner out so I would had halberton n Smith NIMH hard uh TJ and Pascal seak on the floor that’s your speed unit so I would have had TJ McConnell taking the ball out right and then I would have told TJ your first look your second look if you don’t have it then you call that last timeout then you would have advanced it and then hopefully you get the ball in so those are two things didn’t happen turnover happens here’s another thing I would have done okay so the ball is underneath the Celtics basket Tyrese halberton is guarding Drew holiday taking the ball out if you remember the play I tell Tyres Alberton you’ve got to keep your left foot on the Baseline and make sure Drew holiday throws the ball to your right either to the top of the key or to the to the corner where you can see everything there’s no way holiday has the vision to pass it through to Jaylen Brown on the weak side if you have your foot on the corner what halberton was doing and rightfully so he they call this shadowing he was shadowing looking behind to see where Jason Tatum was because you assume Jason Tatum the number one option for the Celtics is going to get the basketball so he was shadowing him trying to see where Tatum was which he was behind him and kind of coming to the ball but that’s where you wanted the ball to go anyways so there was a series of mistakes it’s a good punch it’s very difficult to come back from this but remember this is kind of how the Pacers lost game one to New York in the first round and find found a way to win that series but Theodore you know you’ve seen a lot of games and I’ve been a part of situations like this it’s very difficult when you give games away in the playoffs to get them back and the Celtics are much different than the Knicks they’re not battered in bruis they’re fully healthy and they’ve got guys that can absolutely go get this is tough I’ll be curious to see how they Rebound in game two mentally Theodore okay if I said more likely to go five games or seven games now oh man it’s can I split the middle and say six no we take six off the board look as much as I would love my beloved Pacers to go seven in this you’ve got to be real you’re going against a team with the best record you’ve got two all stars and Tatum and brown you’ve got two alltime second team Defenders and Derek white Drew holiday five I would say five because of the gut Punch Yeah and this reminds me and Paula you may look this up this reminds me of Larry Johnson’s four-point play in 99 the series was tied 1-1 game three in the garden Larry Johnson four-point play we had that game we felt we all remember that they go up 2-1 people for tend to forget we came back and won game four the next game in the garden to even the series but that taste and that feels it’s still stung and we lost the next two and we lost to the Knicks in six that’s why I’m saying it stays with you if we would have won that game three we won game four four You’ have been up 3-1 having to win one more that’s why I’m saying you can’t give games away and I’ve been in that locker room I know how it feels when you when you gift wrap a game they gift wrapped at that game one and a game one they needed mentally but again I want to see how they react in game two but to answer your questions and I’m sorry I would say five because it it hurts

  1. After losing 2 Game 2's against the Heat & Cleveland, Celtics arent about to lose a third one. C's go back to Indiana up 2-0.

  2. I'd love to see the Pacers get swept.😂The Knicks were the hobbling walking wounded and it took Indiana to beat them in 7 games. They blew leads against NY in games 1 and 2 and got their doors blown off in game 5 against a very short handed Knicks team 😂

  3. Pacers had the flukiest route to the ECF. Both series (bucks and Knicks) had injuries to main stars.

  4. The Celtics are not fully healthy. I’ve heard that theory like 50 times day.. as long as porzongis isn’t active the Celtics are down a major piece to their team. Period.

  5. How Reggie gunna break down that loss without even mentioning JB causing that inbounds pass turnover OR him hitting that huge corner 3-pointer OR Tatum dominating in OT?? 🤔🤔🤔

  6. Here is how I explain it, NBA sucks, the refs blow ( saw at least 20 fouls not called, 15 by the Celtics), stupid defense at end of game for PROs???? Its all laughable. NBA is the worst pro league in America, 65% of the players are mediocre at best.

But DP just keeps talking NBA. I'll watch hockey.

  7. Hes right you just cant give games away to good teams. Now theyd have to win 4 out of 6 to a team that probably hasnt lost 4 out if 6 all year. Huge loss.

  8. I hope reg is good and healthy.. Ik he was always skinny but he’s looking a little bit paler and frail than normal🤷🏾‍♂️🖤💯

  9. Celtics weren’t even playing at their best. They got a piece of Pacers last night so they gunna be ready for game 2

  10. Rick has helped the Pacers lose a few games this year by not calling a timeout in the closing moments. We lost every single one. Reggie is speaking common sense. Take the time out. Advance the ball. Put in TJ as the in-bounder, NOT Nembhard. All common sense.

  11. REGGIE MILLER is on point. ENDGAME is most crucial where you have to make quick and right decisions, which determines the outcome whether you WIN or LOSE. PACERS made a SERIES of MISTAKES. RICK CARLISLE didn't call a timeout. HALIBURTON choked and made a turnover. Next, he made a crucial turnover on a terrible inbound pass. In an ENGAME, you have to focus, be mentally tough, and be able to execute to close out and get the WIN 🎯

  12. A lot of ppl talk about what the Pacers didn’t do to close the game instead of what Boston DID do to win the game. A lot of hate towards Boston out there after a hard fought OT win.

  13. we can bounce back on tomorrow's game.stick your gameplan no more turnovers bring the intensity of the road game.let's go pacers fight and revenge then silence the whole crowd🔥
