GET UP | Tim Legler BOLD predicts to Pacers vs Celtics Game 2: Haliburton will overshadow J. Tatum?

with you the number on Jason Tatum is 302 points you’re going more or less yeah I’m going to take the uh I’m going to take more on that 30 and a half points he’s done it I think three of the last four games and I think Indiana is going to have a hard time guarding him the entire series he’s just a tough matchup for them uh individually for all of their perimeter players I think Boston and you saw that in game one Jaylen Brown Tatum Drew holiday all of those guys had their way I think 30 and a half is is a good number for Jason Tatum I think he goes over it so many possessions in these games too so more opportunity for scoring so Allan the number on Jaylen Brown is 25 and a half more or less 100% you’re going over on this one and here’s why first of all had 26 in game one on 20 shots but if Aaron n Smith is guarding Tatum who’s guarding Jaylen Brown I mean you see Obie topping on him right there but is it halberton I mean he’s going against guys that’s a mismatch because it’s a big if you got halberton on him he’s going to crush him as well and that amazing shot he’s going to continue to score he’s got to be aggressive all right and we’re not having Wendy do any of these for obvious reasons as he’s covering this series so I’ll take the third one the total on Tyrese halberton is 192 points and I will definitively say more any number of reasons but the biggest one for me Allan and you were there watching all of them he had several Clunkers in that Series against the Knicks and each time he bounced back big yeah he particularly after game one all about for him being aggressive with the scoring a lot of times he tries too hard to be a playmaker get other guys involved but for Tyrese Alberton it’s about looking for his offense yeah that’s that’s what I expect him to do tonight and I expect him to go way over that check out promos like seeing green it’s exclusively in the ESPN BET app also if you agree with us and like those picks there’s a get up special on ESPN BET right now for all three of those that we just gave you to hit the totals the Moors on the on the Jason Tatum Jaylen Brown and halberton props that’s the getup special that’s available right now it’s boosted to plus 650 download the ESPN BET app today okay there’s really only one question that remains to be asked about that game tonight legs who wins and why I like Indiana I think that they got comfortable offensively against this team I think they’re confident they can continue to do that biggest thing is take care of the basketball you cannot give Boston that many extra possessions I think Indiana’s going to play with desperation and more importantly confidence I think we just lost legs here we’ve having some trouble with his audio feed Alan let me come to you on that he likes Indiana tonight how about you I like the the Celtics tonight because the game they were given away which they do every series was game one and they ended up being able to salvage it and get the win they’re not going to shoot poorly from three they’re excellent three-point shooting team they they normally don’t they’re going to put up a high volume of those they also understood what happened in game one they know they got away with one they take command of the series tonight legs pick it up we lost you there for just a brief moment you like Indiana tonight tell us why I do yeah I do like Indiana here’s why I think they’re confident offensively yeah it’s emotionally devastating what happened once you have a day to remove your from that and you get ready to get into game two all day of the game and going into when they leave the tunnel to run on the court they know they can operate offensively against this team they don’t fear them defensively they’re confident that all they have to do is clean up the turnovers you can’t give a team as good as Boston that many more opportunities where you have to defend them and I think that’s where the Pacers are going to be mentally all in all they had a lot go right for them in that first game they just did not close the deal that gives you a lot of confidence you can get a road win and I think they will again we never ask Wiman to make picks during the playoffs CU he’s covering all of this stuff for us but what what will you be watching specifically for tonight Wendy what do you think will decide game two well whether the Celtics can get to their game where they control the game more with defense and then then they are just in a track meet with the Pacers and also the three-point shot the Celtics have the ability to blow anybody out on a night when the three-pointer is falling they did make two more threes than the Pacers uh in game one but the Pacers hadot a better percentage the three-pointer is everything to the Celtics I expect them at some point in the series to get hot from there if they do this game can get lopsided you we showed you earlier in this hour legs we showed how game twos have not been kind to the Celtics they got blown out in game two in their last series by Cleveland they lost game two in their previous series against Miami they lost game two at home all these games at home in last year’s Eastern Conference Finals against Miami is that a factor in this does is there something about that first adjustment that has worked against them in the past well here’s what I’m going to say it’s different about the last two rounds they won game one in both of those series comfortably so was there some sort of a let up in their own mind that they were playing an inferior opponent and they got had look it took a historic shooting night out of the Heat and then the Cavs played great offensively as well and I think Boston was a little flat in that game this is a different scenario right they held on by the Skin of Their Teeth they stole a game shouldn’t have won maybe that puts them in a little bit more of a mindset of desperation and understanding how good this team is how much more of a state of Readiness you have to have to guard them for the entire shot clock so I think that’s one thing that is different about the previous two rounds yeah it’s it’s an interesting Dynamic we talked about it yesterday on the psychology of it all the Pacers I could see them coming out one of two ways I could see them coming out deflated and devastated and and feeling like oh my God we let that get away or I could see them coming out saying we absolutely Ely can play with these guys and tonight we’re going to beat them yeah I don’t I don’t expect deflated and devastated out of the gate but I can see as Wendy pointed out if the Celtics get on the role that they normally get on in their building where they’re hitting those threes that they get so many of that that could be overwhelming for a Pacer team that might also at that point then realize where they are the Eastern Conference Finals where nobody expected them to be Wendy put a final word on this for us yeah the Pacers are have been underestimated by a lot of people I would advise every one to not underestimate them legler leads the our group in not underestimating teams the fact that he we went down again well we’re having a tough time some and and the the reason for it may very well be Cindy if you can take just uh the full shot of us here I mean it is a it’s Armageddon outside I don’t I I don’t know what can we get a shot of just be what’s going on behind me here like I’m distracted by it I don’t know what is going on why are there lights visible at this time of day it tells you how dark it suddenly got behind us and maybe there’s some impact right now on the Wi-Fi it’s it’s 10:00 in the morning here right now in may it looks like a very different time Wendy and legs you’re the best thank you and again tonight game two East final Pacers C of the night last night Kyrie scored 24 points in the first half Luca donin scored 15 in the fourth quarter Dallas takes out Minnesota on the road with the come from behind win in game one and after the game you’re going to hear it here it was a fascinating exchange on TNT with Barkley and those guys Kyrie talking about all the motivation that was provided by Anthony Edwards listen to this fascinating Exchange in so many ways but Wendy again with a new audience joining us at the bottom of the hour I think the thing that just jumps out is the mindset that Kyrie is clearly in you could just see it in that moment and you’ve been seeing it you know there covering the series up close and whatnot it it he just seems like a different person than it’s felt like he’s been for the last decade or whatever it is and he’s reminding everyone oh by the way he’s still an unbelievable player what are you seeing there winman yeah he’s very balanced he’s very focused and I think the you know showing up ant who he clearly has a lot of affinity for a lot of the people in the league do it was an ancillary benefit that he showed him up I think was more impressive at how he read the game he saw the way the Wolves were playing defense they were really sticky on the perimeter so he’s like look I got to attack the basket they’re leaving the paint open this great defensive team is giving me something I can take he took it and it allowed the whole team to settle down and Luca to conserve energy for later I am way more impressed with his game planning and his leadership that I am that him getting back at an Edwards and the other thing I’d like to say this morning I’d like to express my appreciation to Stan Van Gundy whom I do consider a friend because last night during the broadcast I think he thought to himself you know greeny and Stephen A need something to talk about tomorrow morning so why don’t I just go on the air and say Luca and Kyrie are arguably the best offensive back court in the history of the NBA and I immediately went okay there’s two segments of my show ller what do you think arguably the best offensive back court in the history of the NBA go key word is arguably that’s what it’s all about none of these none of these are definitive answers right they’re opinions and you just got to have logical facts to back it up he’s right look Luka donic is this is one of the best offensive players this league has seen period he controls the game as a facilitator he controls the game as a scorer he’s incredible Under Pressure late game situations no def no Defender really matches up with him and then you’ve got Kyrie one of those electrifying scores of his generation and a guy also that’s a big time finisher so when you pair these two guys together absolutely you can make that argument that this is as good as it gets as a backcourt tandem in terms of their offensive capabilities that this league has ever seen I have no problem with that statement g m Allen well I love that I I love that we can turn it into a debate going into history with Isaiah Thomas and Jo Dumars with Steph and clay and all that stuff it is a lot of fun getting the ring is obviously important because those other two I mentioned got a couple of them but what I also like in this conversation is Kyrie’s fit with Luca donic and when you look at the numbers and hembo sent me these a minute ago this series so this playoff so far the duo is averaging 49 a half points per game 14.3 assists when Kyrie was with LeBron and they won the ring in 2016 512 points per game 12.3 assists very comparable number so that’s what Kyrie Irving brings when he’s playing at his best he can be the best support is V e the 1. The basketball gods are interrupting your broadcast because of the Celtics slander. No way Indy wins this game tonight.

  2. I honestly can see it going either way tonight, but don’t ever think Indiana doesn’t know how dangerous great three point shooters are.

  3. Why hasn't anyone mentioned experience as a playoff run asset? Who has more experience? Is it surprising the (significantly) more experienced team found the will to overcome?

  4. How is it the easiest run for the Celtics if the media picks the other team every single game? The mental gymnastics is funny to me. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE
