Knicks Owner DEMANDS Star Trade… | Knicks News

New York Knicks owner James Dolan could be demanding a star trade for the New York Knicks and we have to talk about this so what’s up guys welcome back to Nick’s digest it’s Chris here and we’re going to jump right into the video as we always do because a recent report from Howard Beck seems to indicate that one thing has not changed the Knicks now as ever are prepared for a star trade and Dolan as ever expects one this is factual set a source with with ties to Madison Square Garden now it is important to say Madison Square Garden here because that is what James Dolan is the chairman of he does not just be he’s not just the owner of the New York Knicks or the New York Rangers he’s the chairman of MSG entertainment he is the guy behind the sphere all this stuff comes from James Dolan now James Dolan has always been someone who wants a super star name on the New York Knicks it’s why he pushed for the Melo deal it’s why he brought in Isaiah Thomas it’s why the Knicks brought in basically every old star at one point throughout the 2000s they were bringing in guys like Tracy McGrady Penny Hardaway guys who were long past their primes and were mainly just a name to it became such a big thing that it got to the point of anytime the Knicks got anyone who used to be a great player but has since gotten older and was not the same it would be called a typical Knicks move the Knicks were the most incompetent front office for probably 20 years before Leon Rose came in and fixed things now Dolan has taken a step back and I think part of that has been Dolan and Leon Rose have known each other for a while and Leon basically said look you trust me you know you trust me I trust you but you cannot be getting involved in basketball so if you have to let me do my thing I got this so just back off let me handle it I promise we’ll be good and not only was Leon Rose able to deliver he gave the Knicks a superstar name but not one that that they had to acquire one who they made become a superstar in Jaylen Brunson Brunson was not a big name before he came to the Knicks the main reason people knew him in his first year on the Knicks was that the Knicks overpaid him now obviously that was not the case despite the fact that he should have been an All-Star both years with the Knicks and not just this year brunson’s become an NBA superstar he’s one of the best players in the NBA I’d say he’s the third best player in the Eastern Conference just behind Giannis and embid and when you look at now the New York Knicks are in one of the best spots possible but James Dolan might kind of be cracking down the hammer of we’re good let me get a star player in New York with a massive name and here’s the deal I don’t know how much I trust Howard Beck because Howard Beck is not the most trustworthy when it comes to the New York necks but I will say that I do believe that James Dolan is pushing for the Knicks to land a star and I think part of the reason is because he knows that Leon Rose is pushing for the Knicks to land a star because the Knicks are good they’re in the best position they’ve been in in 20 years it’s the better they’ve been in a better position now than they were in 2013 the last time they were in this good of a spot was 1994 and that did not lead to an NBA title it didn’t lead to them getting back to one for five years and by then euwing was getting older and he had ruptured his Achilles so that was kind of a different year as the lockout season all that stuff but now that ncks are back in a great position they have a ton of draft picks they have cap flexibility they have tradable contracts they have a superstar in Jaylen Brunson they don’t need to get much better to be an NBA Finals contending team and I don’t think they need to trade for some massive meast star and I know I just made a video on Giannis and I’ve made a video I’ve made two on Paul George I know I’ve made a ton of trade videos since the offseason began I I read all the comments I know you guys are getting sick of these I knew that was going to happen I kind of just threw all the match y’all at once and then it’s more stuff that since we opened it up will go back to the well as time moves along and we hear rumors about it I’m going to report whatever the big story of the day is with the Knicks that’s what I’m going to do now I am probably going to move away from doing only trade videos there’s some free agency stuff and some draft stuff I really want to get into but I just figured I’d Hammer this stuff out now but this is actually something massive because Dolan has not spoken up we have not heard anything about James Dolan whatsoever when it comes to his impact on the Knicks in a long time because Leon has been handling it and the Knicks have been a very quiet organization and not much has came out about them but it is pretty clear that they are looking for a star as sham Sania said the Knicks are going to continue to be aggressive they have eight first round picks that they could trade they’re looking for that next player who’s available Julius Rand is extension eligible and teams are monitoring that situation as Randall could be traded also for a star so what we keep coming back to is the fact that the Knicks are looking to upgrade this roster they want to capitalize on right now they think they win the finals with Jaylen Brunson and Co and the Nova Knicks in general and OG and all that and I’m inclined to agree if they ran it back with this exact team would they win the finals next year maybe they wouldn’t be the favorite but they are one of the teams that could win the finals and even that in itself is such an an accomplishment for the Knicks but we want them to actually win one and it wouldn’t have to be some massive Superstar trade you get Mel Bridges for the right deal for like some buan bogdanovich and five firsts two protected one unprotected and two swaps and boom you have a finals Contender right there but it’s unlikely that that happens but Dolan wants a star he wants one of the big names we’ll see if Leon Rose will kind of bite but Sam Vine of the athletic said that the Knicks are another team seen as a league-wide potential trade partner when it comes to the draft as tibs is not likely to want multiple first round rookies on his team additionally the Knicks have generally tried to add more assets for the future to create more potential Adventures when it comes to trading for players through using all these picks now I do think that Knicks are going to make a trade there’s so much smoke around it this year more than ever and it’s not just one name it’s not like how two years ago was like oh maybe they’ll trade for Donovan Mitchell or something like that no what we’re looking at is a situation where it’s just the New York Knicks want someone they want to get better they want to improve this roster they want to contend for an NBA finals in 2025 and 2026 and 2027 over the next few years I mean brunin probably got six years left of his prime of like his prime prime maybe a little bit more he’s going to be 28 next year at least through age 32 he should be great barring any injuries obviously the Knicks need to capitalize on the fact that they have the best player they’ve had since Patrick Ying in Jaylen Brunson I think he surmounts Carmelo Anthony at this point Sorry Melo but like I just think he does I think that’s where we’re at and that’s fine that’s good it’s great but is it enough I don’t know they lost in the second round this year and that was mainly due to injuries they could have made the Conference Finals they probably could have given Boston some real hell and went to the NBA finals so they’re close but we also have to acknowledge the 76ers are trying to get better the Milwaukee Bucks are trying to get better the Orlando Magic are young and improving the Cleveland Cavaliers still want to sort of contend they’re trying to figure out do they have to trade Donan Mitchell and if they do then we don’t have to think about them at all but the Indiana Pacers are still a thing you got teams and obviously the Boston Celtics are still there so you got teams in the Eastern Conference that are also trying to capitalize right now it’s not just the Knicks and being that as the case the Knicks have to win the arms race of getting the best team possible that’s not you know the Boston Celtics Boston’s not making any more trades for the foreseeable future until they want to move that Drew holiday contract which they sign that massive extension for which is just a massive mistake but maybe they’ll be able to use it to just use a tradeable contract down the line and some draft picks I guess I I think that was the motivation and the idea behind that one if I’m not mistaken but the Celtics are who they are they’re not going to go anywhere they’re going to go to the NBA finals this year but they’re like this roster is not going to go anywhere they’re going to keep this group around now that in mind you have to think about the 76ers you have to think about the Bucks both teams want to win with their Superstar players now the same way that the Knicks do the same way that the Celtics do except they don’t realize that Tatum’s not a superstar stuff like that you got teams in the west you have the Denver Nuggets who are going to try to capitalize on yach’s years no matter what could possibly do you have a team like the Phoenix Suns who have no other plan other than keep digging yourself in this hole because maybe some way somehow you’ll find a light at the end of it you have the Lakers who still have LeBron James and Anthony Davis and know LeBron’s got two years left and they’re going to try to trade for some star is it going to lead to a title almost certainly not but it’s still something to keep in mind a bunch of teams are trying to contend right now if the Knicks want to do this they have to win this race they have to get the perfect pit they have to get the the perfect piece I don’t really think that it has to be some major star I think it can be male Bridges I think it should be male Bridges but you have to shoot higher at some points also you have to look at everyone who’s available maybe it’s Donovan Mitchell I don’t think Donovan fits with the Knicks I think that the Knicks should let the Cavs trade Donovan Mitchell to some situation where he probably won’t succeed at all the best case for Donovan is he either gets traded to the Heat and then the heat are a different problem to deal with once again or the Lakers because those are the only two teams who I thinking realistically Donovan can go to and he won’t just be stuck on some mid team maybe the Spurs also in a few years but I don’t think wemy is going to be winning a title as the best player on a championship team in his second season and I think he’ll need to be the best player on the team over Donovan Mitchell for them to do that that leaves the Brooklyn Nets I don’t want Donovan going to the Nets because it means that we as Knicks fans will not get to see male Bridges play for the Knicks anytime soon that is my big problem with the Brooklyn Nets trying to get Donovan I would rather Donovan just get sent out west and I think that is what would happen there’s a lot of things that could happen this off season the Nixie to make sure they come out on top have a great off season build upon this excellent roster and take this team to the NBA finals I think it’s their only move left they have years this doesn’t have to happen next year but they might as well try to get the ball rolling as fast as possible they’ve been in the playoffs two times in a row been to the second round two times in a row teams that start getting there it starts getting easier to advance farther in the playoffs but guys I want to know what you guys are thinking what should they do in the offseason give me your whole offseason
