The Pistons could be open to moving on from head coach Monty Williams.

With the bit of rumbling we heard a few weeks ago about Billups possibly being on the move, how would you feel about a Monty reunion?

  1. I want David Adelman.

Went to school and began coaching career in Oregon

    Obviously his dad

The fact they just hired him last year, are rebuilding, and are thinking of firing him should tell you enough. Plus I think him and Ayton do not get along

Unless there has been a huge relationship mending, you’ll need to ship out Ayton before bringing Monty in.

As a Suns fan, I honestly feel like Monty and Ayton were aligned up until 1 precise point — when DA was up for an extension, but was told that guys in his role (Screen, Defense, Rebound, Score 14-20 efficiently) don’t get max contracts.

DA fulfilled the role incredibly that Monty put up for him, and they got along well. Up until DA didn’t get paid and Monty didn’t want to change his role to something he’d be less effective in. Their goals were misaligned and the relationship fell apart.

*And for anyone who thinks I’m just straight capping — look at his screens from this past season and compare that to his screens from before October 2021. His game completely changed at this point as James Jones completely fucked the relationship.*

Wouldn’t be opposed to moving Ayton if Monty was realistic. I do think it’s very telling that a rebuilding team would drop him after just one season.

I’d prefer another coach. I wonder what the chances are of us picking up Chauncey’s option now just to fire him next summer. Give him a bit of security then let him go when he (probably) doesn’t improve like we’d want.

They gave him a $78.5 mil contract. I don’t see how they’d be open to moving on and paying another coach while he’s still on the books for the next 5 years.
