At this point I’ve just accepted I don’t understand kidd. During the last two regular seasons everything I knew about basketball (admittedly limited) told me he was a bad coach but the results in the postseason are undeniable

People will give credit to Kidd with this exact comment “Kids is a great defensive coach but isn’t great with the X’s and O’s.” This sub’s Kidd haters lineup down the street to upvote this comment into the hundreds. Reality is defensive schemes are almost all X’s and O’s. He’s also phenomenal at drawing up plays in timeouts. He gets very creative in trying to find buckets when the offense is stalling.
Two things are true. Kidd is a championship caliber coach, and the average fan doesn’t have enough basketball knowledge to make legitimate criticisms of coaches.

But, he let Luka and kyrie play together en got anyone locked in at defence. That’s most important part of his job and that going great

I remember after the game when Harden went crazy with the floaters, eveyone here was absolutely killing Kidd for keeping Kleber in the game instead of Gafford or Lively.
What Luka did to Gobert is why Kidd didn’t want a center getting switched onto Harden.

This might be controversial but I don’t think any of us knows a damn thing about whether he’s a good coach or not. It’s very complicated and we’re not in his huddle or his locker room, nor do we have any idea about the intricacies of the issues he’s dealing with on a day to day basis. Because we’re not in those rooms, and even if we were must of us aren’t qualified to pass judgement anyway, I don’t think we can assess thoughtfully. All we can judge is the wins and losses. And he has Luka Doncic. So that’s going pretty well.
