I get that you need to be built different to manage the NBA players. But I’ve witnessed Ataman’s magic first hand, he puts teams where they shouldn’t be in a good way.
Look at Panathinaikos’s stats last year, and this year when he arrived. At least our team would have a solid foundation to rely on tactics and structure wise…
Quick answer is these euro coaches don’t usually know how to relate to US/NBA guys.
Culture difference and it’s not like Europe. Like soccer for example power is more vested in the manager than the players.
In America it’s the other way around. Hell even in soccer it seems like things are trending to managers being as replaceable as they are here.
Personally I don’t give a fuck who or where a coach comes from as long as they say Fuck Boston and lead us to a title.

Euroleagues are closer to NCAA programs, NBA is a player’s league and the coach is more of a player manager. Euro coaches are iron fisted.

Euroleague coaches are dictators a lot of the times. NBA players will not mesh with that. They are stars and want to embrace stardom.

US coaching is basically dumbed down to superstar hand holding. Bunch of primadonnas making so much money they need yes man and baby sitters.
They’d take it personal if a proper coach tells him how to play instead of jacking up 3s. If someone told them not to do heat checks while 15 points behind and bench them, they’d want him fired immediately Westbrick style.
