  1. If this is true, then Butler has at least one suitor that is willing to max him if extension talks between Butler and Miami break down this summer (A fact that Jimmy and his agent will use as leverage in negotiations now that it’s out in the open).

I have a feeling that by the end of the offseason we will either have Jimmy Butler here with a 2-yr max extension or he will be traded to another team.

Jimmy Butler is undoubtedly a top-5 to 10 player in the league and he deserves the full max contract. This team would become a perennial play-in team if they let him go

Honestly if Jimmy wants the full max and isn’t willing to compromise for the sake of the team it’s in the best interest of the team to trade him now. It’s obvious this roster doesn’t have what it takes to win with the money allocated as it is currently, and a full max would handicap the team tremendously. A trade could help reset the team while receiving assets to build more around bam without bottoming out.

It’s time to put an end to the Jimmy Butler era in Miami

  5. feel like this brings it down to 50/50 jimmy leaving or staying. there’s a real chance pat isn’t willing to do that, offers like 4/160 as a final offer and jimmy requests a trade.

there’s many bad things about it. brings down our ceiling drastically, we’d basically just get role players + picks. the upside of it is there’s a chance age really catches up to jimmy next season, he’s washed and we at least got something back for him and the joke is on the sixers for giving him the contract.

I would say to just trade him and rebuild for a year or two and get a legit star like Ant or whatever in the draft, but we don’t have our pick next year lol

No way Jimmy is leaving bro him and his agent have said over and over he wants to retire here

I believe Jimmy wants to stay here. I do not believe he will take anything less than a full max. Heat fans are coping thinking it’s as simple as Jimmy wanting to be here so it’ll all work out. Wait until it’s time to start discussing money

dump him. his lackadaisical regular season performances put us into that shitty play-in and got us ousted in the first round

I’ma see y’all in September or whatever when everything’s said in done. So tired of rumors, man

Damn…if that’s the case though, I’d rather see Miami trade Butler to Philly.

Nothing against Jimmy, he’s just not worth that max extension here with Bam and he probably is worth it in Philly with Embiid. He deserves that max regardless because he can get it from at least one team but he and Embiid could win a title and he and Bam can’t.

    He should take the money.

Once in a lifetime opportunity at his age. If he cares about winning, he’ll stay. If he doesn’t, he’s accepted that he’ll never win and take the money.

    Nothing wrong with either choice

man im gonna be so heartbroken if this happens

I truly love Jimmy and the amazing memories he has given the Heat, but we can’t max him at his age now. If he was 31, absolutely without questions asked.

  15. KayRay1994

It’ll hurt, but if that’s what happens then so be it. At his age and injury history, as well as the fact that this core is clearly on the decline, maxing him again would be an awful move

Anyone saying we should let him go has lost their mind. Y’all are like the dolphins fans saying we shouldn’t pay Tua but even more regarded because Jimmy is a proven winner. You do not let that walk away.

ESPECIALLY after not playing in the playoffs. Every year after a deep playoff run will be tough. He’s primed for greatness again with a full offseason.
