What would an NBA Finals win do for Jayson Tatum’s legacy? | NBA | SPEAK

every single year but he also has the most playoff wins in his first Seven Seasons without a title maybe my favorite conversation of the day James it comes down to legacies you play sports not just for money not just for your family but you play sports for how in the world you will be remembered yeah what would a finals win do for Jason’s Tatum Legacy a finals would just put a stamp on his Hall of Fame career if he retired after this Championship Jason Tatum retired after they if they won the championship this year he’s a Hall of Fame player and I think it just puts a stamp on that he’s 26 year years old as Joy touched on yesterday he’s only going to get better he’s a walking bucket when he is out there he’s a premier scorer in this league so you better believe it’s going to be some more Allstar coming it’s going to be some more all NBA teams coming for him so if he wins a championship it’s just a stamp on a Hall of Fame career and he’s only in year seven right now and everything that he’s accomplished that’s all this does and once you get this first champ ship then all that pressure is off your back to go chase another one now we’re on two championships M CH I mean they got the team they got the team they in the East got to get the first one though got to get the first one um I think it depends on how it’s won I agree with everything that you’re saying as far as you know having a Hall of Fame career I mean he has incredible statistics he has you know five time Allstar four time all NBA a he’s I don’t even want to run down to we know what Jason Tatum does but as far as his legacy goes what if Jaylen Brown won the finals MVP rut row because he’s gonna win it trust me rut row he gonna win it the better player gonna win that you know I don’t I I said yesterday I don’t really get too caught up in Jason Tatum Jaylen Brown I think Jason Tatum is an incredible player I think he’s a Hall of Fame player I enjoy watching him play I don’t really need to compare him I think we’ve seen enough of this Duo together that to know how they compliment each other and I think Jaylen Brown is a very unique and probably undervalued in player in a lot of ways so I think it’s great that he won the Eastern Conference Finals MVP but if we’re talking about the narrative and the Legacy if Jaylen Brown were to win the finals MVP while Jason Tatum would still be a champion and I’m sure he would have games where he contributed to their winning because I don’t think they’re going to win without him playing well that would be an interesting turn of events and it would make it very look you’d have to listen to the conversation about who the better better player is certainly who the closer or or the lead of the team is and I I wanted to go back because you remember the 2022 NBA finals which was the last time that they were in the finals against the Warriors remember game one he had 12 points I forget I know his numbers we didn’t get to Shady yet but he’s as well and of course game six notoriously game six 13 points three rebounds seven assists he was 6 for 18 uh 33.3 fi goal percentage yes I know Shady we need Shady cam um it doesn’t that doesn’t mean that he’s not an alltime great player it doesn’t mean that he’s not a star in the league it doesn’t mean that he’s not a walking bucket but when we get to the postseason when we get to the finals this is where the Legends are made Legacy Legends all of those things are when it matters most and this is an opportunity for him to rewrite all of that so I I what it does for his legacy I think it depends on how the finals go that’s very well said I think it’s changes what rooms he enters and life I realized as soon as I move to Hollywood is about what rooms you got access to I got access to a lot more rooms now I didn’t even realize meetings used to exist and now I’m in those meetings Jo we’ve had these conversations back like we sitting here tweeting about things we talking about things on our group chats not realizing the decision makers are actually meeting about those things y’all just don’t they’ve already been made six months ago no doubt about it life is about what rooms you have access to right now Jason Tatum is in a room with the likes of dein Booker he’s in a room with the of Spidey Mitchell he’s in a room with all of these offensive phenomenal scores that haven’t yet won a chip yet with the likes of Luka donic they’re in the same room but if Tatum wins a title you get to walk out of that room you get to walk out of that room and at least you can start to see what room Giannis is in now you might not have the MVP so you might not to get to fully share a room with Giannis but at least you get to walk out of the room with the phenomenal offensive talents that do not have championships life is all about what kind of rooms you can enter into right now Tatum is in a room with Bradley Beal he’s in a room with these real really really good scores Tracy McGrady is in that room he’s in that room tmac is in that room tmac was one of my favorite players I had the shoes I had the Adidas Jo I have the black ones with the with the navy blue stripes I had them te was nice he was the nice maybe the nicest he was maybe the nicest but he sat in that room without a chip and he was sitting in that room with Paul Pierce but then Paul Pierce got to walk out of that room Paul Pierce want a chip life is about what rooms you have to sit in what rooms you get to sit in Tatum will walk out of the chipless room with winning one and that is an illustrious room that he gets to walk into 25 that’s that was a pretty good take dang I got to go after that um well I’m outside the room I ain’t in the room outside um I would say this though I think it makes him legit when I say that because there is a lot of offensive scorers right you talk about like tmac T-Mac was phenomenal I remember he was a score right F Carter was a hell of a score it was cold about one of my favorites alen Iverson was crazy with it but where the MVP to put him in category I can’t do it you know I always respect my greats right and I always listen to Charles Barkley and he always talks about yo I was a hell of a player I don’t know if y forgot I was nice and I remember Charles being nice but he always says this but I can’t sit in that room and talk with with uh with Shaq cuz why he got a ring Kevin Garnett was saying something the other day they were watching the game and he was saying you know it’s a lot of great players but What Makes You Different yeah t can score with the best of them right I mean four time all NBA you know hard that is to do right but are you different cuz we’ve seen that before and if you don’t want to ring I can’t even put you in that category he’s a Celtics great talking like that so as he’s talking I’m listening and as I’m listening I’m writing I’m like wow so if Tatum doesn’t win his championship he ain’t different what is he yeah he ain’t different he’s the same Superstar scorer we’ve seen all these years and he’s 26 right and then if you don’t you it’s going to keep happening so I would say if he gets a ring I think it’ll make him legit and he’ll be a Difference Maker and he’ll be in that room yeah well said yo Today Show been fire it’s not cooling down are you hot though cuz you got all the buttons so you must be hot fire he hot I get it I take my buttons off no don’t with the chest today man subscribe here to get the latest from speak and go watch a few segments from our other shows on FS1

  1. Nothing, because the probability of them winning is low. They barely made it past Indiana, and your celebrating like they won the finals already.

  2. Jesus why is this only about Jayson Tatum? They act like this man is the only one that plays for the Celtics. There are other players. Man doesn’t even have individual accolades but we’re talking about this man getting one ring.

  3. Depends on how he plays. If Tatum chokes, but the Celtics still win, Tatum will still have massive questions asked about him. Think back to what was happening with Steph Curry years ago. He kept choking in the Finals, but the Warriors won the majority of those series anyway. That's why Curry needed that 2022 moment to show that he wasn't a choker in the biggest moments. For Tatum, winning isn't enough. Like with Curry, Tatum has to play GREAT, win, AND get the Finals MVP. Especially with the GARBAGE competition he's faced thus far, if he ends up choking, it'll just show that the East was a MAJOR factor in what he's done all year

  4. These media sports people are very see through they are trying to create chaos between tatum and brown this is ridiculous man

  5. If JB wins finals MVP it means he had the better series lol stop tryna split these men apart my lord lol every duo gets love as a duo except the Jay's it's crazy lol

  6. Bro! It’s a team! Every team is gone put the most defensive pressure on JT. That’s gone leave 4 other people either wide open or able to make the pass to the wide open player. I hope JT do t listen to people like this and just try and go get a chip no matter who the mvp may be.

  7. Joy is rocking that Anakin Skywalker hairdo! It looks nice on her though. She also clearly prefer these go-go dancer outfits.

  8. I am a Celtics fan love JB but Tatum is a better all around player. Tatum avg way more rebounds and way more assists. JB is a dog and can score anytime he wants. However, JB cannot consistently make plays for other teammates.

  9. I hate the media because what are they doing having this conversation? Like the conversation is irrelevant and very negative in a way. It's like they're pinning two players against each other that are on the same team instead of complimenting them and hoping they play better

  10. All of these people clearly are lazy and don’t understand basketball Jayson Tatum has won more these all those people he is being compared to

  11. What most people forget was that in the previous title run the Celtics had in 2022, Tatum's approach to the games were different. He was their primary scorer and only looked to attack. Him and Brown carried the load offensively but also burned out. In round one, Cs swept the Nets, Round 2 against the Bucks it went to game 7. Tatum had a 46 point game to avoid elimination before winning in game 7. Then you take the Heat to 7 before running out of gas in the Finals. This year, Tatum and Brown's approach to the game are different. Their usage has gone down significantly and their assist rates have gone up. JT has gone to 4.9 assists per game, JB has gone to 3.6. Meanwhile their usage has dropped from 32.6 to 30.1 for Tatum and JB has dropped from 31.4 to 28.9. This also means they are FAR less fatigued this far into the playoffs than they were previously. Certainly the rest they have gotten from ending series early will be an added bonus.

  12. Jason Tatum doesn’t have a Legacy. How can a player who let a Miami Heat team with role players beat him 3 times in a row.

  13. You guys try so hard to make Tatum something he is not. If this team win the Title and Jaylen Brown continues to perform at the level he is performing then Jaylen Brown will be the best player. Jason Tatum doesn’t play defense. He is an offensive player only.

  14. In my region, Jason Tatum on that Ruffles cover is still available while Aja and Lebron covers were sold out within the month.
So an NBA title for him will be quite the boost to the personality that will be embolden to the masses.
