[Music] before you get started and I’m going to do the exact same thing we did during the year how about our fan base how about that crowd it was absolutely electric and they weled us to that win I mean the energy in the building was just absolutely incredible incredible go ahead coach for a young group it’s you know nearly impossible to replicate what it’ll be like in a game six Steward dies situation how did you like your young group ability to handle that moment and Come Away with a win tonight loved it I loved our energy I loved our Poise that that we handled the runs uh our ability to stay the course to stick with the game plan and not be discouraged you know for for a group that continues to gain experience I mean this is this is up there with it to be able to force a game seven uh in this situation Jamal what did your team do well apart from what you just mentioned down the stretch there to take control of that game there was just a Poise about him they they understood what the game plan was they didn’t try to chase it uh they knew what we were trying to accomplish down the stretch guys make big plays they trusted each other they trusted the past they understood who had it going and they didn’t shy away from it and it’s always been by committee um we talked about Cole this morning and I think he stepped up big time I mean he this group is is very special in the way in which they keep pulling for each other no matter what’s happening what was it that prompted you to play cold down the stretch um what were you seeing what were you what was your gut telling you he I mean I just you know he had a pop about him he had an energy about him I think he got himself going a little bit early uh I thought he did a great job defensively staying with the game plan I think those are the things that you know you look at throughout the game and I thought I thought he did a tremendous job what was the message to the team after they opened the second half on a 17 to4 run stay the course stay the course this is it’s a long game and we have to understand it’s a game of runs and we’ve been in plenty of those where we’ve been on runs and where the runs have gone against us but to be able to stay the course and you look up and you get it down and it’s a seven-point game to be able to stay the course make the right plays get stops to get out and run M two questions for you the first is following up on that what did you see that your team did wrong in those opening minutes of the third quarter that you reversed well I think we were I think we were trying to chase a couple matchups here and there and so it led to the tough shot quality so they were able to get out on the break and see some easy baskets I think Donovan did a great job of getting downhill um getting easy layups so I think that sparked it a little bit and so their ability to to to stay the courts regardless of what was going on because he was going uh but again the other guys didn’t have it going as as much kind of got to my next question Donovan has 50 but he’s the only C that scored in the Final 14 minutes of the game how much of it was look he’s cooking let’s try and take everyone else out of the equation I think that’s part of staying the course with with the group you know no one overreacted to what he was doing now obviously he’s a special special player to be able to do to have 50 um you know and only make three threes I think that’s very special so his ability to do that but our guys not to overreact nor Panic to what was happening because we continued to share it move it guys make big plays keep continue to trust the past trust each other Jamal we’ve talked extensively about this team’s belief and self-belief in what they’re capable of in what ways did you see that come alive tonight especially you know a big example for me was postgame you know I walk up and you’re just watching Cole and jayen hug and I think that says a lot about what this team is celebrating each other and knowing exactly what guys are going through and how they continue to battle and and pull for one another to me that was a great example of what this team is celebrating one another whether they play two minutes 10 minutes 41 minutes that’s who this group is coach back at the end of March you guys were on a three-game losing streak and you talked about in all of those games one possession games there’s growth and opportunity for your coaching staff and this team as a whole now two months later you guys are in the biggest game of your season in an elimination game to see that kind of growth within these last couple of months just what does that say about how much work and fine detail has gone into every single moment to get you guys at this point their ability to reflect on those experiences I think you can go through them and if you don’t reflect on them and know exactly what has gotten you to that point then it’s it’s it’s pointless and our guys have reflected and you can look back at those situation and look at back at those moments but more than anything I think it says so much about our coaching staff and the job that they’ve done to keep these guys prepared to keep these guys ready for any moment when their when their time or number is called and I really think that it’s it says so much about them and this group and the way that they continue to bond together coach you talk about growth maturity Poise um you know just experiencing things like this you got a game seven uh coming up on Sunday what’s that experience going to be like and how much fun is that going to be for you guys I this is the moment that you you you play for you know you know why why you do it you do it for these moments um so being on the road game seven the ability to come together to continue to grow in each game I think that’s what this group is is looking forward to um lay it all out there lay it on the line um one opportunity and I think these guys will all Embrace that knowing what they’re capable of doing it’s not going to be easy nor do we want it to be easy that’s what this group has always embraced all year long the harder it is the better we will be was Gary close to playing and just how is he doing uh Gary was close uh again and where we he’ll come come in tomorrow get a little bit of treatment and we’ll reevaluate him after that thank you coach thank you all appreciate it Jaylen for a young group like yours it’s it’s hard to replicate the type of scenario of playing in a Do or Die game six how did you like your group’s ability to handle that moment and Come Away with a victory uh tonight um I loved it I think all series long we’ve done a great job in staying so poised um we responded to every run they’ve made uh every game they won every points they’ve thrown um anything they’ve done to try to you know throw us off of our game knock us off balance um we responded to it we’ve acknowledged it and we stayed we stayed centered and together and I think tonight was another example of that it was back and forth all night um you know we knew that was a game we had to go take uh we knew they wanted to end it here um and uh I think we all found a lot of comfort in that um in understanding how much pressure you can call it as on this game um but it was just another game for all of us you know just another opportunity to play basketball together continue to have fun smile and uh and hoop in this city and uh we took full advantage tonight you just took a big deep breath of relief is that just the is that how you feel right now just reliev that you forced a game seven um yeah it is real happy to be honest um such an amazing position that God has placed myself and and all of us in um and I think that was a lot of what brought me Comfort and confidence tonight um just understanding that this was no accident we didn’t make it here on accident um you know he placed us here um you know this is part of his purpose you know especially for my life for everybody uh that’s here part of this organization and I’m so glad I’m so thankful that he placed me here and I got to experience and make all these moments with this team who I love who are my brothers with the city that I love that I call home and um yeah to to all experience that together and that that that’s kind of what the side was just taking in the moment Jaylen great win tonight um there in the middle of the fourth quarter you have had an offensive foul call on you for I guess kicking your leg out um looked a little frustrated but you made you it really overcame that came back you know had a steal had a couple threes can you talk about that moment and then kind of turning it around and and you know getting the team kind of you know rallying behind you after you made those couple tough shots um I think all all that falls under continuing to fight and respond uh to adversity uh the play I agreed with absolutely not um but wasting energy and and putting you know an argu arent uh you know yelling you know any of that towards towards Mark wasn’t going to do myself or the team any good and uh I’m proud of myself in that um I think that’s a lot of growth myself as a as a person um and very happy to have this squad around me because they all came T me hit me on the head stay focused stay locked in here be with us we need you and um and yeah I think that that that’s what family does they’re there for you in tough moments moments when you need them they’re there for me then and uh yeah continue to respond play basketball and the plays you saw were result of that Jaylen you now get to move on to a game seven of the NBA Playoffs what does that mean for you I mean You’ had a moment to think about that what the big picture behind that uh same thing as tonight just going in there excited to play another basketball game uh all of these are moments that we’re going to continue to cherish forever that we always going to be able to hold on to always going to be able to look back on uh Storyteller to our children family uh when we all get up 15 20 25 years down the line um you know we’re going to be able to share these moments you know that we went through this together and uh things like that get me excited things like that motivate me and um I can’t wait to go get out there playing Cleveland hostile environment one where we haven’t won one yet where all the odds were stacked against us and it’s just everybody here on this roster everybody on our bench a couple Family behind the bench um against an entire city and I don’t think none of us have wanted any other way to be honest Jaylen what did it mean to you to see Cole Anthony contribute like that after he’d been you know upset with himself with how he been playing I love CA so much and and he cares so much about all of us and about performing well for all of us and uh a very unselfish human being and um he puts a lot of pressure on himself and uh he he’s got his own struggles that he’s going with uh but to see him out there impacting smiling um you know doing little things continue to grow as a player but as a person uh you know his mental his Spirit um all of that is continuing to grow and shine you know as the moments continue to get bigger and I am so happy for him I wouldn’t want anybody else making those plays uh hugging after the game uh you know he’s just got a special Aura and energy and I want him to continue to use it and then let it shine so very happy it’s a it’s a make or Miss League what did you like about the shot making uh from your whole team down the stretch we took him all with confidence uh there was full belief from everybody anybody who had the ball to to go make a play whether it was for ourselves or for somebody else and uh we did that uh we made the plays and I think when you do things out of good intention and out of a good place in your heart good always ends up finding you and uh we haven’t you know made shots all series long we’ve had games where we’ve missed couldn’t see one go in and uh all that you know culmination a buildup uh to tonight where we can come out shoot shots with confidence continue to grow um you know and carry that Swagger uh that we’re building through shop making and uh yeah just proud of everybody tonight to the point you made about Cole Jamal mentioned that embrace you shared with him postgame as being the most indicative of the way this team believes in each other throughout the entire game I’m just curious like the love that you share for each other that belief in each other does that weigh on your mind during the game and serve as motivation absolutely it does um you know in a moment you’re tired in a moment you’re sore in a moment you’re hurting uh where frustration sets in a bit uh you know where it’s been a couple possessions you know and and you want a shot you’re able to put all those things to the side you know for the betterment of our unit and that says a lot about the character here um you know it takes a lot of of self-discipline uh putting the ego in check to continue to do what’s best for the team you know and not and not yourself and uh that’s special that’s all I’ve ever been around uh you know that’s how I was raised so to come here and be part of an organization that continues to preach that uh you know that that cares about those same values um I couldn’t be more appre and yeah I think the love you see is pure it’s not fake it’s not for show none of it’s a facade we love each other we love playing with each other for each other and uh we’re going to continue to do so you’ve talked about the Poise that that this team showed uh especially coming off of kind of game five or maybe you guys make some missteps down the stretch where you know are you ever surprised by how poised and and mature that that you got that you guys are or where where does where does that kind of come from or is it just kind of a state of being um I think it’s a state of being we’re all so present um we’re all so so in the moment um and I think that’s a ton of growth uh we’ve done it all year from from before training camp and guys were in here in the end of summer uh during the summer uh after every workout we’re breathing together uh we’re meditating together um you know me personally myself you know has become a big part of my routine and and stretching meditating continue to become one you know with my mind my spirit my emotions um and I felt the growth you know in moments where uh uh you know I would have went left went right uh you know allowed my emotions to sway a call to sway you know where I go um you know I’ve allowed my love for my brothers uh you know my love for this game and uh and for the city uh to continue to motivate me stay keep me locked in in a moment and all of us have used that um and the way that that we’ve grown and responded um and answered the call uh for two years now when times are rough when times are good um it makes these moments so sweet so uh G to continue to do so there’s a lot of young Scrappy teams kind of on the rise making noise in these playoffs for you and Paulo and France just what makes this Trio special and and unique and lethal um we all care about each other and I think what makes it so special is not only that all of us love the game love each other love the work um but everybody else around us you know loves it the exact same way and we’re able to to lean on Cole when we need to to lean on Kell when we got to to you know expect ji to make big plays when Gary’s in there expect them to make big shots and big stops um you know it’s not just us three and uh when you got to face a team where everybody who comes in off that bench is a threat um is a problem uh can bring something to the game uh that just makes you uncomfortable um you know that’s dangerous and then when when you add the swag that we’re continuing to build that we’re continuing to get uh through wins through playing together uh through our camaraderie um that’s when you start to see special things brew and special moments happen so just going to continue to be present with everybody uh the entire Squad uh through these moments uh because they’re fun they’re special they’re unique and uh yeah thank you J I appreciate fron it’s hard to replicate for a young group what it’ll be like in a Do or Die game six with an opport to force a game seven how did you like your group’s ability to handle that type of moment and come out with a win tonight I thought it was great um really high urgency obviously uh good Focus all game um but it’s just another bball game so that’s how you got to approach it the same things apply as in any other game and um you know just got to lock in on the on the right things and even though we didn’t have a great third I thought we we stuck with it all game and um you know I think that I think that’s what made the difference in the game France I know you didn’t a lot of time to think about this but game seven NBA playoffs what what kind of what does that say to you in your mind about having that opportunity that’s super cool um you know that that’s what you work for um not just as an NBA player but as a little kid those are the games you you grow up you know watching but um I just want to win the game that’s that’s where my mind focus is so um we one game to one day to recover and then back to it fron um the question was asked to Jaylen about just the trio of you um Paulo and Jaylen just kind of your play tonight so you guys are the youngest Trio to score 20 plus points in a playoff game since James Harden Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook um what does that mean to you and what did you think of you know your play tonight along with Jaylen and Paulo um it’s always cool when you’re when you’re mention in the same sentence as as guys like that um I think I think the whole group the whole team us three we’re working extremely hard um we like each other we like to play with each other um so it’s almost like another motivation to you know keep the season going and keep uh you know getting another chance to play together I think that’s how I looked at a little bit before the game and like I said we we got a big one on Sunday so hopefully we can do that again friends you all scor outscored them 30 to 18 in the in the fourth quarter and Donovan had all 18 of their points just what was your for your all’s just mindset defensively uh in that last quarter um yeah you know you look at the second half third quarter um not great defensively and then I I thought we really locked in um I thought uh Mitchell hit a hit a bunch of tough shots um credit to him but I thought we stuck with it kept making it tough and then got stops when we needed too and um that’s that was pretty much the game um you know we got stopped in the fourth and um um know whenever you keep getting stops you you get a rhythm a little bit you get some get some offense going and um know having someone like Paulo obviously helps helps a little bit when you know you know where to go at the end of the game you guys you guys have leaned on on that bench group for for a good chunk of the Season Cole has a big has a big game made some big plays tonight Marquel has some big play big plays tonight how important is that faith in in everybody in the roster to to to step up you know especially kind of in the playoffs when you kind of expect maybe rotations to be a little bit more limited and and to lean on the starts more what does it say that so many so many guys have stepped up at various times and and especially tonight yeah it speaks to everyone’s character I think um you know it’s it’s not easy to maybe not play one game and then be ready for the next one and um so that’s took credit to those guys to to stay locked in keep keep getting their work in and be ready for the moment and and just play Within the team um I thought Cole want us the game to today he uh hugan is Off the Bench making plays on both sides and um that’s what it takes you know to to be successful in the playoffs fron I just asked coach Mosley when he came in a couple minutes ago about back in March you guys had a three-game losing streak and you guys were in every single contest with some Great Western Conference teams and there was opportunity for growth for you guys from the coaching staff as a whole and now two months later for you guys to have your backs against the wall in the biggest game of your season to come through as a young team and to have those Stepping Stones what does that just mean about the growth of this team and all of those lessons that you guys have had to learn across the way yeah I think it means just you know that that we’re uh trying to learn trying to get better better as a group um not skipping steps um as a team um but at the end of the day we got one more game to go so um yeah that’s that’s doesn’t matter if we if we lose that one so um that’s where our focus should be at France for for you guys to go 3 and0 at home in the playoffs what does that mean to you and how real is the advantage when you guys play here at the Kia Center yeah I think it’s definitely very real um obviously we’re we’re all human I think it’s just cool to to be at home too and then uh obviously we have great fans so it’s always fun to to play in front of our home home crowd um obviously that stuff makes a huge difference um you know when you hear a lot of people cheering for you and having fun and stuff like that and um yeah it means a lot thank you awesome thank you paa for a young group like yours it’s hard to replicate what a game six Do or Die situation will be like how did you like your group’s ability to handle that moment and Come Away with a win tonight uh yeah I thought we just did a great job you know everybody um all 15 guys just sticking together um it was a lot of communication every timeout every huddle and uh yeah it was just a special moment you know just everybody being engaged in the game like that and uh you know just lifting each other up Paulo it’s you have much time to think about this but game seven of the NBA Playoffs what does that kind of mean for you to be in that position uh it’s awesome um you know I think going down two Z early you know you kind of figured that if we wanted to win it was probably going to have to be in seven so uh I’m excited and uh you know it’s just a Do or Die situation you know so we’re going to have to put together another special effort coming off of of Tuesday’s loss in a close game did that help or is that kind of something that you were able to draw on as as the game got tight in in game six tonight just just to be able to to finish it knowing hey we’ve been here we know what we have to do to to win to win this one yeah I mean we we won two games prior to this game so we we knew um we could we were we were going to win we knew we could win um and I I just give credit to the whole team just you know constant communication uh even when we were down ining the second half you know guys just um positive talk positive energy um it wasn’t even much of the coaches it was just all player D driven player Le and uh you know guys kept everybody engaged the whole team was kind of involved in that you guys have leaned on that bench group for a good good chunk of this season just just to help and report how big were the minutes that Cole and Marquel gave you tonight tonight just as part of who this team is yeah they were huge uh you know Cole being in there in that fourth quarter you know he he kept them honest and he made some um some huge plays uh that tipping was huge um you know the layup he had made you know the crazy layup was was huge and you know kale just you know being steady uh keeping us poised and then him just playing both sides of the ball really helped us a lot um him guarding and and him controlling it on the off saying hey Paulo the the first two games in Cleveland were pretty bad and then the the last one you you almost won so it’s almost like you got a little momentum going out there what what is it like the team has learned something along the way in these six games that you’re closer now to be being able to win a game in Cleveland yeah we’ve definitely learned a lot um throughout this series I think you know just with the film we’ve watched from the first couple games to now and just seeing what works and what does doesn’t work you know at home or on the road just you know knowing what we have to do to to win the games um I think guys are definitely getting a you know good understanding of you know what we’re going to have to do execution wise and game plan wise um to get the win Jaylen and uh France both mentioned this the way this team genuinely likes each other being motivating factors for them in what ways does your desire to maybe just continue playing with these this team motivate you throughout the game uh yeah it motivates me a lot I think um you know it’s something kind of special when you know this is the same group that you know I came in and got drafted with really besides maybe Joe Engles but everybody else you know was here when I got here and was here the year before so um it’s just special you know going from where we were in the prior couple years and then being in the playoffs and now just fighting in the playoffs and and being in the seven game series and you know just doing it with this group of guys who you know we all came in and you know nobody really believed in us uh you know a couple years ago or last year and but we believed in each other and that’s all we would tell each other just throughout training camp throughout the summer you know we we know what we were capable of as a group and so the fact that we’re you know doing it it’s uh it’s awesome sorry if this was asked before they outscored you guys heavily in the paint but you guys defended took away their three shot a lot they only had one three-pointer in that first half was that an emphasis for you guys to just force them to score in the the paint pretty much exclusively uh I think yeah um they have great Shooters Mitchell Garland stru guys who can who can get hot in Nang um Morris you know they got a lot of guys that can shoot and uh that’s that’s what hurt us you know if they get hot behind the three I think the game uh game five they hit 14 133 something like that and we lost by one so we just wanted to guard the three-point line um I don’t think our plan was to give up that many points in the paint but uh you know two a three is worth more than two and we know that eventually you know we’ll be able to protect that Rim even if they’re you know getting there early in the game we know that you know we got guys that are are going to make it hard as the game goes on to to keep scoring at The Rim PA it seems like the physicality has kind of leveled up as each game has gone on how much of that really impacts the game in terms of you know each possession and how does that kind of move forward now with game seven going into Cleveland in a hostile environment yeah I mean uh it’s playoff basketball it’s it’s super physical um you know refs aren’t you know I don’t think refs are taking control of the game you know making crazy calls I think they’re really let um be decided by by the players and the players making plays so uh yeah I mean I think that’s what we expected and I think we’ve adjusted to it well you mentioned this morning that you that you like kind of the style of playoff basketball do you feel like you’ve kind of grown into and gotten more comfortable with kind of the level of play and then what’s what’s expected of you as as the series has gone on uh yeah for sure I mean it was my first experience in the playoffs so I think just you know taking those first two games with a grain of salt um going back and watching all the film and uh seeing what I did wrong seeing what I could get better at and just doing that after every game and just seeing what’s changing what um how can I how I can adjust my game to to help us um so uh it’s been a good experience for me and everybody else um but we want to keep going thanks for
