surgery was it your shoulder last time I had surgery was my shoulder right actually it was like so I was like rehabbing my shoulder uh tore my laam and dislocated it um in 2020 and so like I was kind of rehabbing it for like a couple weeks and then all of a sudden the league shut down because of covid so literally that Wednesday when it shut down I got a a surgery that Friday then the next week they stopped all like surgeries in like in that area or whatever so um I got lucky and then I missed the bubble cuz I obviously was recovering from surgery and I was ready to go next year probably the best time that’s the best time for sure I feel like JB and I obviously JB’s way worse and the recovery process is longer but the I losing in the playoffs combined with having an injury and you’re not able to do anything right after like I wanted to obviously go as far as possible but once the season was over I know like I was going to go golfing like that was going to be like my treat to myself I was going to go golfing for like two three times get out the house get out of like the NBA world and haven’t been able to golf for a couple weeks so and JB obviously you’re um couple months couple months yeah so it’s um that’s that’s like the worst part of it it was just like kicking you when you’re down type thing for me it’s like dang we lose we knocked out the playoffs in the you know tough series and now I can’t even do like the one thing I wanted to do the ab torque yeah I can’t I can’t but drinking enough wine brother I’m drinking enough wine for all of us what are you drinking on um can’t text so true it is your it’s your left hand it’s true it is my I mean I do I would use my right hand to text one handed if I did but I mean just I’d rather just call you real quick I know you’re going to answer yeah text messages you don’t answer yeah a about a point um speaking of wine I don’t know if you’ve ever shared this publicly or if you want to but I feel like this might upset Nicks fans because they want everyone they want you to hate the other team as much as they do but there is a player on the Pacers who you’ve exchange wine gifts with whenever you’re in each other’s city is dad on your NBA coaching staff in this uh hypothetical there’s a Twist though you have to live in the same house with them as well wait is this the same house as both your your college teammates your dad or is it just your dad one or the other one or the other so so okay so in both scenarios you have to live with basically play with your college teammates and live with them or get coached by your dad and live with him I’d rather get coach my dad live with him then share a house with Josh I shareed ha house with uh Dante for sure but I wouldn’t share house with Josh why you don’t have you’re not you’re not necessarily dirty you have a lot of stuff so that means a lot of stuff is out of place so yes yes yes I don’t care what you say whenever you walk into your house there’s a,1 boxes in your garage it’s a maze to walk through your garage to get to the door that’s cuz my wife always shops okay it’s her fault and but that’s the garage still it’s part of the house it’s like the outside you play 90 games it’s a grueling season but especially when you play with the amount of bodies that that you guys had but what is uh I mean obviously you’re both kind of rehabbing injuries but what does what does the offseason recovery look like for you guys like after a 90 Plus game Game season I know jayen you obviously went right into surgery but have you started rehab yet like what’s how are you how you feeling on that front uh I started rehab a little bit um there obviously limited things I can do right now it’s only been what what’s today Tuesday it’s been a week since that surgery and um I can start I’m getting movement in my hand already but I it’s still long way to go like I can’t open things I can’t um do normal things it sucks it really does suck your right hand you never know I mean I do everything else right-handed besides basketball oh really so I mean it’s it is what it is but um recovery I mean I’m I’m a type of person that’ll take two weeks off and then start working out again usually and now I have to take a little bit more time off because obviously I can’t shoot or stuff but I’ll start doing things relatively soon I got clearance that I can now like bike and like actually sweat so like I don’t have to worry about that um but uh I got some time nice we’ll be all right we’ll figure out Josh is the same way except two instead of two weeks it’s two months I don’t think Jos I don’t think Josh touches the ball in the summer his rehab is curls curls with a wine glass that’s my rehab right now I have nothing El have nothing to do just drink wine watch games play with my kids my dogs that’s you watch do you actually watch the games yeah I watch the games cuz I think go ahead feel like last year I didn’t really watch him until towards the end because I was like like like damn like we should have been there like we should have moved on we should have kept playing this year I’m not sure for you but for me it just it felt different because like me personally just left this was totally different yeah last year we left everything out there you know how to se it kind of ended part you know half of it wasn’t in our control with obviously guys getting hurt guys going down so it’s one of those things was like we kind of made the best out of the the situation that we were kind of dealt and I I can you know I can live with that the other one I was just like I thought about Miami all summer now I’m like I mean you live there so yeah about think about like SPO Jimmy Butler Kyle Lowry like that’s all I thought about the Su you know last summer now I’m like thinking about a couple grown men all summer huh that’s that’s all I was thinking about so now I’m just like you know it is what it is let me uh drink my wine play golf and then you know get ready you know hopefully everyone’s fully healthy to start the season the one thing I hated the most even though like we were playing well we were winning we’re up 2 then up 3-2 whenever we lost like everyone was like oh it’s they’re tired or um their injuries or anything honestly that that that kind of like pissed me off because I mean yeah we don’t have a full team but like we don’t want to use that I don’t want The Narrative of being like oh they’re hurt so like let’s give them a pass like no like we had chances to win that series and didn’t we had chance to go up three 0 and we didn’t like I just I I just hate the fact that sometimes people give us the fact that we were injured or injuries happened yeah they’re part of the game but like that’s not the reason why we lost we had a chance to win like we were winning with those injuries like I don’t know it kind of I just hate the narrative I hate the narrative I know that you don’t really give a [ __ ] but I I because like you were like we were win with the injuries I’m like kind of I mean ifw doesn’t make that three we were we were up 20 and then that’s was more so the injuries then so I wouldn’t say we were winning with the injuries because we were what one in four we were we were up 3-2 I would say that we had a chance to win despite our injuries no we had a chance to win with the spot injuries that’s a better way met hype y’all couldn’t get one win after three leads in the fourth I’m like obviously if we moved on JB wouldn’t have been playing I would have tried to play I don’t know how I would have been I’m like damn we could have did that like [ __ ] we would have been not have JB I don’t know if I might have played a couple games like at least get one [ __ ] gentle sweep yeah just just one yeah just one they they should have realistically they had the the lead with what you said three other four games Le the last 90% win percentage in the in the fourth quarter yeah hate to see it yeah that’s one things see but it’s hey it’s basketball just basketball exactly it it’s you know that’s but I’ll say that series first off a hell of a series I feel like our two playoff series were two of the best playoff series this this playoffs um but JB I think you might feel the Indiana series was way more of a toll on our bodies than the Philly series they’re so fast cuz they’re so fast they had a good game plan I I you don’t think I mean it felt like to me clearly they went in like with a plan to run you guys and they’re already one of the probably the fastest team in the NBA without their opponent being you know so hobbled yeah I um I I would say they’re both both series were different when it came to like like the physicality of it like physically against Philly it was just like it was just basically your the physicality was crazy when I say that it was more Brute Force than anything it was it was like muscle versus Muscle mhm Indiana was just like like you said a track me were running and so it was different but definitely had a I would say definitely had an effect on us because I mean obviously we weren’t that deep at that time we had so many injuries but damn here am I using the excuse of injuries um but yeah yeah they had a game plan they and they they did it well I mean yeah they did it well there was just never a time during the Philly series where I was like physically I was like damn I’m tired I’m like I’m exhausted yeah I did and and part of that obviously how they play obviously with Joelle and you know mid post post they play a little bit slower um so you could rest a little bit more but with them it was like made a layup next thing you know OB to Pascal seak by the time the ball gets through the net or at half court and they just take it at you know launch it so that was like the that was like the main thing it was just like in terms of grueling it was just that track me and obviously you know do were well conditioned for it was that the most gas you’ve ever been on a basketball court that series no yeah no no no no there there was a time I think it was I don’t know if JB remembers this actually he might I don’t know if he was playing the game we were playing Boston in MSG I’m not sure why I was so gassed but it was like eight nine minutes left in the fourth and I felt like I just had like a good two you know two-minute Spurt of like scoring rebound defense or whatever and I was exhausted when I told you I came off the left wing on a ball screen with literally no plan and I think it was Drew holiday this was it Boston it was Boston cuz it was was I playing wait wait was I playing this game no I don’t think you were playing itall screens with eight minutes left in the game I don’t think it was Boston then it was somebody else I remember Josh came off the court and he was like I don’t know how you do all the scoring [ __ ] man I’m tired as hell no I did that to Dallas also because so so tibs did that and it was Kyrie was guarding me and I literally said it Kyrie mid game because he was like was like third quarter he tibs I I guess I can never complain about not getting a play call cuz it was like eight plays in a row we called like post up for me against Kyrie and then I remember one time I’m running down Kyrie was next to me and he’s like dang this all y’all run in this quarter I said bro I don’t want the ball no more like the I was so tired I’m like bro I don’t want to touch the ball it was that time and then against Boston I came I came off the pick and roll and when I told you like I don’t know what I I just stopped with literally I just stood there and Drew holiday just takes the ball and just runs the other way and they get a layup well I told you there was like no dribble move no nothing I was so exhausted I just dribbled I just dribbled and near it was it was so it was so then we called a timeout I went to the bench I’m like I don’t know what to tell y’all bro I got nothing that’s funny cool so this is a sleep which I needed 8 hours and 45 okay you know got kind of uh hooked on Law and Order SVU last night so kind of was probably should have been a sleep by 12 mhm and I’m going to sleep by 1 140 so okay yeah Olivia Benson got to me as she does um I was 82% I slept for 7 hours and 32 minutes from 11:03 p.m. to 719 a.m. um my REM and deep sleep accounted for 37% of my total time which is an optimal amount for healthy restorative sleep um although I had more wake events and lower slightly lower efficiency than I normally do I had 2.2 wake events per hour and a 92% efficiency I’m usually about a 9 above a 93% um but all my health metrics are are uh are in order which is great but when so Wednesday Thursday Friday of this past week the 22nd 23 I got 36 did you really yeah I went 94% 92% 99% oo I had a 99 sleep on Friday the 24th slept like a baby I always hate comparing my whoop home screen to yours though because your HRV is off the charts yeah it’s like 175 and I just this that’s not fair playoff time I’m looking Mo I have a lot of green yellow recovery um just like yeah but then I’m looking at post playoff knockout a couple Reds in there because your body was so fatigued or what and you nah just celebrating celebrating life yeah if you ever look at your whoop the morning after you uh after you drink it’s it is crazy even what like one or two drinks does to your HRV and your sleep and your resting heart rate it’s crazy yeah I didn’t really realize how how much alcohol and wine affects that actually until I saw it on whoop and I was like I kind of got to be a little bit more um locked in on that that’s that’s actually what what it was for me too like I have you noticed like over the last couple years I haven’t really been drinking like I used to as he he says as he takes a sip of wine um and a lot of it was woop a lot of it was seeing seeing what it did on [ __ ] so shout out to them um but I think you know you you won the the lower a resting heart rate battle but um I got better sleep than you last night so but you have a one-year-old two one-year-olds and two dogs that you have to let out in the morning yeah unfortunately and if we factor in guys you guys did play this series with with less people than you’re used to that’s a fact what did you learn about this team throughout like with that circumstance was there anyone in particular that stepped up surprised you like what did you learn I mean everyone stepped up um du stepped up press stepped up um guys just came in ready to play and I think that’s been our mindset all year like next man up mentality no matter what the situation is you’re going to come in you’re going to be ready because we prepare ourselves every single day um yeah I mean everyone stepped up somehow some way we had to step as a team there wasn’t going to be one person that just going to fill the void of like Julius or OG or Mitch it was it was just all of us had to step up together basically you know you know you know I I always had respect for but um I don’t know I feel like the series Dante was kind of like I don’t want to say he he I feel like he was the the the barometer like his I feel like his energy he kind of came out there like shots like ready to you know ready to really go to war and I feel like it it kind of got you guys going a little bit um I don’t know I feel like there was a lot of talk throughout this series about who’s a front runner who talks [ __ ] when they’re up who talks [ __ ] when they’re down bro Dante would hit a to cut it from 20 to 17 and like talk his [ __ ] this series and I just feel like that that deserves some respect he was the first one to jump in when there was a scuffle like I don’t know yeah I remember there was end of the third or beginning of the fourth and obvious in game seven JB got hurt and he starting to play well and he like we going to huddle I think somebody was shooting free throws and he’s like he’s like y like JB and not coming back we got we got do this ourselves like we got to go out there and hoop he scored what like almost 40 with like 15 20 and like the end of the third fourth like he the dude that you know like you’re you’re you’re rocking with because he’s he’s going be aggressive he obviously can make shots knock down shots get stops defensively like that was just like his mentality of like like obviously OG’s not playing he’s hurt JB just got hurt like we ain’t giving up like we giving it everything we got so like that’s just like his mentality so it’s not surprising you know for us when you start seeing him in those situations who and play well because that’s like who he is Dante the best contract in the league nah up there oh [ __ ] shout out my dog deuce oh man Deuce oh yeah there hooping playoff minutes getting about three I mean you guys are full of contracts that I think are are like incredible though if you look at them obviously yours as it stands is incredible julius’s is as well right Julius is what 25 27 a Year Mitch yeah Mitch Z obviously is about to break the bank yeah they they about to get it back and it it’s one of those things where it’s like with obviously when guys get hurt it’s room for guys to step up and kind of really show you know who they are so it’s to full for me because I’m happy because I’m like all right we are we have our team or I want to say we have our team we have really good pieces who are on good contracts right and can grow with but then on the the friend teammate side you’re like damn I wish all of us were free agents cuz all of us could go get a bag except for JB he’s going get his anyways but um that’s like the one thing that’s you always think about it’s like d if I was a free agent this number I could probably get some yiing but oh well you still got some Y in oh well yeah I got some my extension kicks in next summer next year you think me you are you still buying that um Hamp this house that was like 40 million are you still going to do that um um no so I looked at my contact and I realized you know that was a little bit more than half of it but then I looked at yours and I was like I was like maybe if I put up you know dreams is when when he was winding down his career and um he kind of knew that he was on his way out and I was getting to the point where I started to get older and focus on basketball and he kind of put his Focus all on me he was like all right let’s this is what we’re going to do and that’s when he kind of started preparing my mindset to be where I am now and so he’s always pushed me in ways the league like I never was like oh I’m Not Gon to make it I’m not GNA make it but like I knew that like there’s always a chance so I never thought negatively oh I’m not going to make it I’m not going to make it I always thought there’s a chance I can make the league and then I I think me being at my height now didn’t really have any effect on how I thought if I was going to make it or not I knew that if I worked hard I was going to find ways to be better than the next person and um continually prove people wrong that’s all always had a belief and with that I think that’s R um appreciate you guys we’ll keep this going all summer more guests different type of guests unique guests maybe expand out of basketball a little bit and uh yeah we’ve got a summer of content for you guys jaylen’s
