Spurs Drafting Stephon Castle? Victor Wembanyama Co-Star?

Spurs Drafting Stephon Castle? Victor Wembanyama Co-Star?

what’s going on everyone so the San Antonio Spurs hit the lottery very likely the dynasty Lottery as they drafted Victor wanyama with the number one pick last year Well San Antonio is once again primed in position to kind of help uh add some just longevity pieces some co-stars to Victor wanyama in this upcoming draft San Antonio Spurs have the number four and the number eight pick uh we’ll see what they do they try to kind of pull off some trade kind of expedite a little bit or do they end up drafting both pieces right the Spurs have already a plethora of young Talent uh they definitely have some key needs particularly at the point guard position uh but we’ll see because look you have Victor wanyama so and him being so great out the gate it does kind of have this like fine line of like do we try our best to expedite this ASAP or do we kind of take our time kind of the lawn approach where in 3 to 5 years we’re the best team in the league and we’re ready to win off three four five championships right I just think that there is if you can again the Spurs are in an excellent position as far as like you know cap space and financials uh assets uh and just young talent that they can continue to grow and develop so I’m not saying that they have to this offseason go and make a big push a big swing but if the right piece or right player or players are there do they kind of go okay let’s just go get them now it’s going to be very interesting to see uh as we progress into this offseason and the next few offseasons going forward but nonetheless this draft is kind of a big question mark As far as the draft goes a lot of people think outside of the top five to maybe top 10 uh this draft is not very good um but luckily for the Spurs again they have the number four and they have the number eight pick so they’re going to be in very good shape to kind of get some co-stars alongside Victor wanyama and one guy that’s linked to the number four pick is Stefan Castle now Stefan Castle is was very impressive uh with Yukon this past season um especially in that title game I mean he was everywhere doing the dirty work doing the the hustle plays I mean every time Yukon needed a big play or a big moment I mean were in control pretty much start to finish that game but anytime it looked like there could potentially be any kind of resistance from Purdue you just saw Castle just continuously making the big play um now he’s not a perfect Prospect by any means but he’s a guy that many look at as like couldn’t up you look five years from now he is the best player in this draft or at least one of the best players in this draft he also makes in my opinion a ton of sense for the San Antonio Spurs you know he’s 65 66 frame uh 215 lbs 19 years old now he’s a guy that on the surface like if you’re just somebody that was just looking up his stats you might look at it and go ah man he was a 11 uh five and three guy shot 47.2% from the field but if you’re familiar with that Yukon team who which might I add may end up having the number one pick in Donovan clean uh that team was incredibly stacked uh if he was in any other situation if he was with any other team I mean he could have easily been probably a 20 plus pointed gy guy I mean this guy was very good very physical very efficient and a legit two-way player that I think could come in and and make some noise from the jump I’m not saying he’s going to come in and be a 25 five and five guy out the gate but he is a guy that you can see maybe getting there at some point he’s a guy that just has a ton of potential now he definitely like most Young shooting guards that are coming into this league uh 26.7% from three-point range isn’t going to cut it but he has the mechanics he’s a guy that you look at shot uh 76% from the free throw line so he’s a guy that you can see he he has the tools that’s usually kind of the the barometer like where is he as far as free throws go he’s like 50% from the free throw line it’s like oh no he’s not good but him being in that like 75 76% range from the free throw line got to imagine with work ethic and improvements he’ll probably be in the 80s and I could see him bare minimum at worst around League average as far as three-point shooting can he just get to like 36% from three-point range I really like The Pick of Castle for the San Antonio Spurs I’ve kind of touched on him uh in the past and previous videos it to me it’s more so it’s not just about oh can he shoot can he score it’s the intangibles right he gets it done on the defensive side he’s a guy that can defend multiple positions he’s a guy that does the dirty work or at least he did in college was willing to do the Dirty Work Do the Hustle plays he’s a guy that rebounded pretty well for um know basically being that combo guard now he is listed as a point guard shooting guard he’s not really a point guard and I don’t necessarily see him developing into that for me I think you draft Castle as your two guard for the foreseeable future now you got a legit two-way two guard that you can use to grow and develop he’s 19 years old so he’s not one of those guys that you know he’s like 23 and you’re like uh oh like you know he’s probably closer to a finish project than he is to the beginning but no this is a guy that he he seems like he has the work ethic the motor that you want to see for these young type of players he’s a guy that I think can come in and at least bare minimum make an impact as far as yes I think he’ll give you some offensive production but more so just the the legit two-way I think he’s a guy that could really kind of be that point of attack for San Antonio um he’s a guy that I mean you’d have Victor wh minyama backing you up so that at that case you just need to kind of funnel guys you just got to be able to funnel guys but he has the size the length and the um athleticism to really be uh in my opinion a top defensive player in this league now again there is a lot of talks about the Spurs going and getting a point guard and a Darius Garland if he becomes available they’ve even thrown out you know Chris Paul kind of going the more veteran route which makes even more sense to me why you would draft Castle cuz let’s say you even go and you trade for let’s say you trade the eighth pick and whatever else and you go get Darius Garland well now you got your point guard of the future you got your shooting guard of the future in Castle got Victor wiim minyama and then whatever else you want to save and keep uh to to pair around I just think now you got basically your your main front Court piece for you know that that’s generational talent and now you got your two main backcourt pieces for now and the future you got basically your foundation now you’re just looking to to add that quality three guard uh or uh three and then you know either get a power forward or Center um to to kind of complete this Trifecta but I think if you if uh if ston Castle is there and he’s there for the taking I think that you got to grab him personally I I just I don’t think that you can leave him on the board I think he’s just he’s a guy that I think you’ll look back and go man like we really missed we really dropped the ball there now it is also possible that he ends up getting taken earlier right could he’s I mean he’s even projected to go top three but if he’s a guy that is there um reports coming out that the Spurs are highly interested in him and they really like him and they want to you know pick him up I think I think that’s a no-brainer in my opinion now uh you have like uh Nicole atopic uh he’s a guy that you know I as like a point guard I I could see them right so like there’s a couple mock drafts going around where with the number four pick uh the Spurs are taking Stefon and then with the number eight pick taking uh NOA which with his injury history and his injury concerns I can understand why he might fall 2 eth because there was talks about the Spurs taking him with the number four pick uh but now with the injury concerns I could see him dropping and I mean if you told me you came away with Nola and Stefan right castle and topic like to me that’s a no-brainer like that that’s an e you won the draft in my opinion right because I think those are two guys that many people think have potential to be Stars uh and you know could be look back at two of the top three to five players in this draft if not number one and number two and I just I really like the pairing of Castle just it’s again it’s just the grit like I love seeing that with his time in Yukon right like he was just he was after everything he was hounding opponents I mean he just he was the kind of guy that you looked at and go man yeah yeah you need that guy on your team and he’s a guy again like if you’re just looking at the surface and you’re just looking at um just kind of the the stat if you’re just stat watching you might think like oh no he’s you know he wasn’t anything too special no go watch the games I’m telling he could have easily been a 20o a game guy right if he went to one of these teams where he was basically the primary option I mean he could have went and dropped easily 20 plus um but again he was on a stacked Yukon team that many believed were was one of the best ever like it’s just it’s kind of hard to be 20 plus a game when again you have arguably the number one pick on your team and many people think might even go number one no he’s getting a lot of attention he’s getting a lot of play as well and also the way that Yukon just played right like they they like to share the ball move the ball right and he played within the system I think he’s a guy that again can come right in would fit seamlessly in my opinion in the San Antonio Spurs system I don’t think he’s a guy that you’re going to get a ton of push back for I don’t think he’s a guy that you know has this or he doesn’t appear to be this guy that has this huge ego that’s like I need to be the star need to be this right I think he’s a guy that would come in and be like man me and Victor whama let’s go right like I’ll do the dirty work I will work hard like Le let’s let’s let me and him let’s go win some championships together in the next you know two three four years and I I just think if you can get it you got to get them but anyway as always this is a discussion I pass question on you let me know your thoughts and opinions down in the comments below what do you think how do you feel what are your thoughts do you like the idea of going and getting Castle do you think no there something body else in particular that you want do you think that he’ll even be there with the fourth pick uh again however you feel whatever The San Antonio Spurs hit the lottery Litterally with Victor Wembanyama last years draft. This year the Spurs own the 4th and 8th Picks in the 2024 NBA Draft. The Spurs are reportedly interested in drafting Uconn star Stephon Castle. Castle would be an excellent draft selection that could give Victor Wembanyama a real costar for the foreseeable future.

  1. My dream draft scenario.

Blazers receive: Keldon Johnson #4 overall pick

Spurs Receive: #7 and #14 overall picks.

    Spurs Draft:

    #7 – Stephon Castle
    #8 – Tidjane Salaun
#14 – BPA , Jared McCain, Isaiah Collier, Devin Carter, Kel'el Ware, etc

  2. You don't need 2 young players just one and get veterans unless you draft bronny to get LeBron for 2 years until wemby takes over

  3. I'm sure Pop will try him out as a point with Jones as a backup PG. Worst case he plays the 2 and defends 1 thru 3.
