Spurs are “BIG FANS” Of Stephon Castle
the San Antonio Spurs are gearing up for some major changes this summer as they aim to build a team around Victor wanyama and with the 20124 draft coming up soon one guy they’ve been keeping an eye on is Yukon guard Stefon Castle as the 2024 NBA draft gets closer the San Antonio Spurs are in a prime position to bring in top-notch young Talent holding the fourth and eighth picks and with they clear need for a guard they’ve got their eyes on yukon’s Stefon Castle according to Kelly of the athletic the Spurs are big fans of Castle he wrote the Spurs are said to be big fans of yukon’s Castle leak soures said and he’s moving up in their draft board San Antonio has two top 10 selections and could take castle with either the fourth or eighth pick so what is it about castle that grabs the Spurs attention and how does he fit into their vision for a future Dynasty for one Stefon Castle feels a critical need the Spurs are eager to address as they search for their point guard of the future many believe the NBA draft is where the Spurs will focus their efforts the most while they have the option to trade for an established guard or assign a free agent having two top 10 picks gives them a prime opportunity to select an exceptional floor General with a talent like Castle available it’s an enticing Prospect Castle an oversized Guard from Yukon made a significant impact in his fresh freshman year winning an NCAA championship before declaring for the draft projected as a top 14 pick the Spurs will likely have two chances to draft him with their fourth and eighth picks according to reports Castle won’t work out with any teams that already have a starting point guard in place this Narrows his potential workouts to a few teams in the top 10 specifically the Spurs Washington Wizards and the Utah Jazz some critics might label Castle’s decision as immature but he has a solid reasoning behind it during his time at Yukon Castle played off ball to benefit the team showcasing his versatility and team first mentality however he now wants to play his natural position of a point guard in the NBA this aligns perfectly with the Spurs needs as they are in a search of a true point guard to lead their future it’s no secret that the Spurs are in dire need of a pass first defensive-minded guard to set the table for their established players and new additions names like Nia topage Rob Dillingham and Stefon Castle have all been mentioned as potential targets with two lottery picks the Spurs have the chance to double dip and fortify their back court specifically Castle stands out as a top prospect he was the Big East freshman of the year and an NCA Champion making him a consensuous top player of this draft class during his lone season in college Casto averaged 11.1 points 4.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game despite playing out of position he shot an impressive 47.2% from the field however his three-point shooting at just 26.7% is a weakness that needs Improvement if he wants to become a true different maker at the NBA level given that he’s only 19 years old there’s optimism that he can develop this aspect of his game that said Castle is known as a scoring guard utilizing his oversized 6’6 frame and first Quick Step to penetrate the lane and score he’s also a solid Defender capable of guarding multiple positions from the one to the four spots essentially Castle appeal as a prospect lies more in his potential than his current production at 6’6 and 215 lb Castle boast NBA ready size and strength at just 19 years old coupled with his deliberate Pace as a ball handler passing instincts and scoring ability at all levels he fits the mode of a modern two-way NBA point guard a tempting Prospect for the Spurs Castle strengths include being a big physical guards SL wi hybrid with strong on ball defense and the ability to create offense in pick and roll situations or as a cutter despite his modest numbers at Yukon where he shot 54.4% from the field 26.8% from three and 76.4% from the line his impact on the floor was evident most of his shots came within the flow of the offense showcasing his ability to contribute within a team system while also demonstrating the potential to create his own offense off the dribble however Castle’s three-point shooting is a major question mark shooting just 26.8% at Yukon on limited attempts per game considering the Spurs need for shooting this could be a concern yet the Spurs have a renowned development staff capable of refining his game mostly under shooting coach Jimmy Baron who has already helped players like Jeremy s and Jones improved their shooting in just one season given time to develop Castle could become the Spurs next success story enhancing the roster with his versatile skill set and potentially improving his three-point shooting to meet their needs in terms of fit Castle seems like a natural cultural fit for the Spurs especially if the plan is to build a core around French Phenom Victor wanyama with wemi already established as a Superstar the focus is now surrounding him with players who are committed to winning Castle has proven himself to be a winner willing to do whatever it takes for the team’s success pairing him with a competitive Force like wemi helps solidify a winning culture within the team from a basketball perspective Castle compliments wenyama well with wemi commanding the attention of opposing defenses Castle’s ability to find gaps and finish near the basket becomes invaluable his skill in the pick and role could be lethal alongside wmy additionally Castle’s defense of prowess athleticism and impressive passing made him a strong asset even before entering the NBA at 66 he adds to the Spurs size potentially making them one of the tallest teams in the league the Spurs renowned development staff is another factor in Castle’s favor they have a history of transforming players with shooting deficiency IES into reliable Shooters bending on their ability to do the same with Castle while also capitalizing on his attacking and defensive abilities could prove fruitful for the team if Castle can develop a consistent jump shot he has the potential to emerge as the top talent from this draft class what do you think does a castle pick make sense for San Antonio or not let me know in the comment section Spurs championship team had a point guard that had a similar 3pt percentage issue, but was kept on the court because of his defense. I can't remember his name, but Castle is like a clone of that pg. If Castle can improve his 3pt percentage, he'd be the perfect Wemby running mate at 6'6".
So basically, you're telling me the Spurs are gonna draft a sg wanting to be a pg who also can't shoot. And all of this is after a season the Spurs played without a starting PG and them throwing bricks.
OKAY

Bro Devin vassell was not a shooter coming out of college and had a funky shot but they fix those flaws. I think it’s a no brained you grab castle
People keep acting like Castle didn't say he didn't want to play on a team who plays a system. The Spurs play a system. Castle wants to play for Dc
He is another Kelton Johnson who we are trying to trade
Ai ass content
He is selfish
Im confident that my Spurs will do something special in this draft, because we can go in quite a few directions to find another gem!!! You cant go wrong with either Castle nor Dillingham!!! If we can get either….its a win!!! Spurs4Life baby!!! 😎🤟💕💯
I would really like the spurs to trade for a later pick maybe 15-20 and pick up Zach Edey
I think he could be a very fun piece off the bench sort of like a super sub
I'm from the future and I tell you Stephon Castle is the best option at 4th pck and Buzelis at 8th. both will be superstar thanks me later
The only pb Spurs will face with rookies is EGO. Look at Kyrie embracing his second role with Luka. Stats, etc means nothing without players embracing their role; We saw that last season with nobody passing to Wemby. Gonna be hard to build a team around him, because he's so good that his aura puts all the other players in the shadows. I see a draft next year if they can't find a way to build chemistry next season.
Spurs gm drafts are always different. Hope its not a primo>sengun type of draft
You should lower the volume of the swish sound, it overshadows you.
An NCAA Champion! Like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson 🙏
People need to know that Mccullar would be a steal for us with the 35th pick from Kansas
Bring in Bruce Bowen and Dennis Rodman to lay some knowledge on him.
I’d rather take Reed Sheppard.
Bring in veteran Forward Myles Turner 6"10 from Indiana.
Actually they’re looking at his teammate Tristen Newton who actually played PG and started for UConn.
He’s a true PG Castle is not. He wants to be but Tristen is who the Spurs are looking to pick up in the second round with one of those second round picks they have. Also if they really want a defensive stopper they should take that other second round pick and package it with future 2 second round picks to trade up and snag Ryan Dunn late first round. They can still do whatever their heart desires with those two first round lottery picks.
Based on availability and if Risacher isn’t around by the time 4 comes around I would get Reed Shepard or Dilly at 4 and Salaun at 8, then Tristen and Dunn in the second round. Sure I would like to have Sarr and Risacher but let’s get real here the above mentioned is the best scenario for the Spurs this coming draft.
Honorable mentions to draft:
Kelel Ware
Baba Miller
Bobi Klintman
Tristan Da Silva
Tyler Smith
Pacome Dadiet
All gettable in the late first round or second round
Castle the 4th pick. Then Ron Holland yup yup
Most mocks have the Spurs taking Topic over Castle but recently I have been leaning more towards Castle going to the Spurs.
Love the idea but I'm tired of relying on the training staff to create a shooter. We have been relying on that idea since we drafted Murray and were still a terrible shooting team.
I would not mind taking him at 4 so much potential!
Pick him at 8
Gonna be very good player, $pur$ know what's up.
Nikola topic
Wish we still had chip England that’s a huge loss that cannot be replaced
You guys have to be so dumb not to draft rob. That one would literally be unstoppable 😂
I prefer dillingham, he already can shoot
I want Rob Dillingham
Salaün(or Risacher) and Castle, it's my choice for long time. He has talent, mentality and humbility to be a beautiful Spurs.
Lots of Wiz fans want Castle at 2. Remember OKC guys run the team now, so it might take 4 and 8 to get Castle.
