down [Music] [Music] good morning everyone welcome into another episode of PM in the am I’m your guy pep Bard alongside my left-hand man Mike Laro uh guys listen pH uh phenomenal week in baseball the Phillies last week we’re going through some some tribulation a little bit of rough patch there with the you know West Coast again two places they’ve in history that they struggled in Colorado and San Fran nonetheless nonetheless they turned things around at back at home uh again against a caral team that was coming in red hot but I no something about this Phillies team and I know something about this Phillies lineup you know no Mike and I want see if you agree with this but the when these opposing pitchers com into South Philly and then you hear everything that you know you know they you watch out for this guy’s curveball watch out for this guy’s fast all this stuff their best pitch by these uh oh I think Pat froze there uh yeah is their worst enemy because this Philly of they do a great job of figuring you out and they they capitalize they capitalize all the time so I wonder Mike I mean what is it about this Phillies lineup one through nine one through nine it’s it’s nine innings of pain uh I’ll tell you what it wasn’t nine innings of pain yesterday Pat I mean Sunny gray looked really really good if he would had more offensive support we may be talking about a different outcome in this game um Sunny gray I thought pitched a really good game for him and he’s a really good pitcher too uh the only time I don’t remember that dude ever really having a good year is when he was in the Bronx when he was with the Yankees but um you know I take my cap off to uh Sunny you know um you know he pitched a really good game but I’ll tell you what you know you’re going back to me yesterday when Ranger went down the guy for me who stepped up and he’s been stepping up all year it’s been Spencer Turnal three Innings no hits no runs six strikeouts I mean for me I give him the player of the game I know Harper had a you know big home run him and Bone each had two RB yesterday um you know for me Pat I look at it like this I just want the fillers to continue winning series if they continue to win series man I don’t you know they could really end this quick I mean the Braves are really falling and I’m shocked I am so shocked because the Braves and the Dodgers as much as I get on them about their postseason during the regular season man they always seem to make the right move they always got a guy waiting in the wings to come right in take right over and and start producing you know and I I just I don’t know man like I watched that game yesterday uh believe it or not I was actually um watching the little bit I caught the tail end of that Braves game yesterday and for them to let that go holy cow man holy cow I mean they had Oakland right there and they it’s it’s two different worlds right now it’s this time last year we’re we’re kind of EV and flow up and down trying to figure things out and this it’s complete opposite this year like there’s no you mentioned about rer Suarez going down oh no you know you know some of are schiner starting to tight up no it’s it’s no problem Jose Jose Ruiz comes in takes care of business like you said Spencer turno comes in with sixks he’s got some nasty stuff he’s got some nasty fast balls top inside get you swinging I mean and Ranger just just I mean again you only got a small sample size yesterday but I mean this is why this guy is the most dominant pitcher in b pitch you know with an erra 1.70 I mean this guy is nasty I mean Tai for the most wins uh I mean and then watch what he really does when you focus on what does Ranger really do again gets guys chasing you know lo you know throws himself in the ground he gets guys golfing all the time then he’ll throw St right down me you know right down Broadway and there’s nothing there’s no bouncing back so Ranger Suarez is just a a whole new a whole new person now on top of that Hill again looking sharp he’s looking really good uh the bullpen you know this was pretty much a bullpen game and we beat you with our Bullpen you know what I mean you know you know this like I said this was a a bullpen game I mean like you said Spencer turnable with sixks uh Ruiz coming there doing his thing uh again it’s it’s Ms Road just with the bullpen yeah and I’ll tell you what um even though he gave up a couple hits um Orion Kiran also uh to yeah Soo coming in Soo you know not looking bad um I’m really liking where this is I think at the Phillies right now if you’re looking uh for the Phillies right now I think they’re probably gonna go after a bench piece to bring in um and I think they’re also probably gonna go with a bullpan piece uh I’m liking what I’m seeing from this Phillies team man like they they’re never out of a game they’re never out of it no and you know it’s gonna be real gonna be real good man to see what happens tonight over there at the bank national audience again um you know they were on baseball night in America last night for Fox now they’re on ESPN tonight um always goes up big in these games and it’s now June so I’m expecting Kyle schwarber to hit a home run tonight just saying uh well well listen why don’t you get into these comments here because uh we gotta talk about Mr Harper yes uh we got our boy Steve ja goes every year gotta go to the cup uh oh speaking of hockey Mr gobler I do believe you uh you lost your bet because the Rangers were eliminated oh hold on we’re not yet because I did see uto was gonna go so we’re kind of split run if Ottawa loses I’m not Ottawa if Emon loses and then yeah then then yeah I I have to come out of pockets so yeah but uh you know I mean so far the ranger the New York Rangers went and a heat a flash I mean this Florida Panthers team just can’t came out of nowhere I tell you what and it’s just G be a good cup yeah like I said yeah we’ll talk about that a God do do you guys remember Dave Stewart one time the great ace pitcher one time was a Philly we had him here so it happens you know what I mean how many times have we seen that story Hey look it’s the home Foreman good morning morning Jamie morning love check it in Steve saying my Panthers pick may be the best since 93 Habs Ranger one down one to go uh I tell you what we’re going to talk about that basketball series too I think that’s going to be a really good series as well um di checking in goes happy schwarber season I just mentioned that what’s up buddy must be killing Jerry Jones to be the fourth best show in town uh you know what probably I mean think about that for a second you got the Rangers now you got the Mavericks and the stars are all more relevant than the Cowboys holy I’m telling you yeah that’s crazy all right little G Griffin said I’m a big Eagles fan I’m a big fan of the Eagles 2024 season 14 and three I’m going to be an uncle well G congrat you want to take that one congratulations I don’t know about no it says Eagles Eagles are gonna be 14 and three yeah I’m looking maybe 12 and five 13 and four they they they got some they got some pretty tough games there so so and we all know the eagles they always win a game that they shouldn’t win and they always lose a game that they shouldn’t so dimes checking back in goes thank you baseball gods for not injuring rer Suarez my goodness that was scary it definitely was yeah uh there’s my mother-in-law checking in she said good morning guys have a fun show oh good morning sry uh dime saying remember when I said the Phil was be up by 10 games by July seven and a half game lead now and the Braves are B basically finished I am not counting the Braves out Dives do not yeah listen we we thought this time two years ago that the Phillies are going to be cooked right being 12 games out and they came roaring back so in baseball I I don’t count nothing dead till like near October yeah yeah the Braves are gonna be there the Braves are one of the best teams in baseball uh they’ll get it right and trust me the Phillies we hope they don’t but we hope they don’t but they don’t but I’ll tell you what yo Pat speak about baseball real quick before I finish into these comments how about this upcoming week man there are some major major like uh head-to-head clashes uh today the Yankees finish up with the Giants then they move on they they move on and then later on next weekend they gotta clash with the Dodgers next weekend a lot of FS are in London I mean man we got we got some lot of fun baseball yeah you got some bangers really coming up soon with uh with you know uh with play coming in with Major League Baseball especially over these next two months you figure you got Dodgers Yankees coming up the Phillies play the Yankees next month okay um yeah you got Atlanta uh that’s gota you know I think they’ve already played the Dodgers so but you have all these like top tier teams that are all gonna be interacting like Baltimore’s got to play uh some heavyweights some heavyweight fights yeah so like this is going to be really really good baseball right now and by the way I played a little Home Run Part last night it was free I took okay took judge um what’s uh stto and Stanton all hit home runs I fell asleep both course got up this morning two of a three it’s it’s kind of sick to me but Aaron Aaron judge has just become a a a I’ll tell you what he’s an animal WTO being in that lineup has really helped them guys really has helped that yeah yanes are going to be a hard out and you figure dude right now they’re the second best team in baseball and they don’t even have gar Cole they don’t even have their best pitcher so you know what’s gonna happen get it’s gonna be a good one uh Steve checking in says if any team coming for the fields it may wind up being the Nets eventually they can put something together eventually ah maybe man maybe because you know the Mets are floundering the the Marlins are are dead fishing in water like they’re really not they got so been out since April right right I mean they were so banged up coming into the season like my God but maybe it might be the Nationals I mean the that and they play the Philly tough too the NS they always do they always do our boy Adam checking in he says what’s up Mike and Pat awesome show go Phillies what isks buddy thank you for checking in Adam you can always catch him with us on all the fightings finals he’s always checking in I like our boy Steve here Joey hail checking in I want the closer from Oakland Joe I agree with you but to get that closer from Oakland the philli would have to give up a lot of young talent to get him and I don’t think that’s in the cards but then again you know dumbrowski hasn’t done that type of move since he’s been with the Phillies that’s the type of move that he’s known for he’s known for taking whatever kind of what they call cleaning out your cupboard and getting rid of young talent to bring a team in to win now so I don’t know man I I would love I would love for them to e him or the kid from Baltimore um yeah not no not Baltimore St Louis I’m sorry him and the kid from St Louis either one of two of those guys uh Steve chicken goes I truly think the Mavs have what it takes to take the Celtics for six or seven only thing worrying me is how easy the road Boston had to this point yeah yeah C Steve I’m gonna I’m gonna for me I just think that look this has been a great story for Dallas and again a team that no one saw coming um great great story but to beat that Boston team I mean you gotta remember the dep that they got coming off that bench is nasty uh I mean so listen this this might be the only time I ever root for a Dallas team but you know listen uh to to take down that that that evil ampire from up North please do uh if they could pull away listen go ahead LCA you know what I mean yeah listen I’m going to be pulling for the maps I want to see that I think all the pressure is on Boston in this series yeah you know how Boston gets dude when they got pressure on him dude they Turtle up so uh but then again you never know uh Sean kill right yeah uh he says uh Phillies versus Brewers is gonna be a good series I thought the same thing until I saw Freddy Peralta pitch yesterday and he’s gonna miss the Philly Series so but you do get the return of ree Hoskins and yeah I really hope the fans that are down there give this dude a good standing ovation don’t be a bunch of idiots and B yeah I mean listen he’ll get all the inovations but after that when Bell time goes it’s Bell time so I mean that’s that’s anything that’s necessary the only the only time I ever seen it pat where they got standing evation all is when Rollins and Utley came back with the Dodgers yeah went to the whole series on both of those two both of those times and they literally gave Utley a standing Vision every time he came back so uh it says uh sh the next question can they afford sto are you talking about the Phillies or the Yankees uh Sean because I I I was thinking that too um with him because basically if we that on the tower cast last night if you were watching the philli game they were talking about the Yankees a little bit and uh I believe it was uh John smon said hey if the Yankees win the World Series there’s no pressure for them to resign Juan soda um no impression would be for them to Reign is if they come up short and with stto being a free agent could the Phillies be into maybe reuniting Juan sto with Bryce Harper in that lineup you figure cas’s money’s coming off the books this at the end of the year so and I to be honest with you um you know I’m a Cassy guy Pat I really believe and my heart of hearts I think cassy’s traded this year in the I think he’s traded by the trade deadline I really do I think he they’re going to use him to get a piece back listen it’s it’s um it’s all big questions from dumbrowski coming up at the end of the year I mean listen uh do you break up the band and try something new you listen you have to keep the good times rolling like I mean I know a lot of people uh I know one particular Grinch from this network likes to give how Roseman uh his his Jabs all the time but I mean you can’t deny he’s one of the best GMS in the NFL you know what I mean if you look at his track record one Super Bowl Super Bowl I mean within matter of five to six years so what I’m saying about D Browski so if he’s got to take some pieces out to try something new so be it um listen he’s yeah he’s made a Mark he’s been to a World Series he’s trying to climb over the hill and with the team that he currently got and let me tell you something like the team that they currently have now and and a lot of people that I’ve talked to in the offseason were really mad with the Phils because they didn’t make a significant big move or Big Splash and yet this team is the best team in baseball look at I mean both sides of the ball I mean you look at pitching the start lineup people can’t figure them out they swing at bad pitches I mean they’re the sinkers I mean look at Christopher Sanchez let alone he doesn’t have a fast ball on his R but he’s got a sinker he’s got a change up he’s got that really confuses batters and then you go to the flip side the Batters on this team one through nine like I said earlier your best pitch winds up becoming your worst enemy then you don’t have a plan B then there’s about five meetings on the mound with your team that’s how this team gets into your mind and let alone being down South Philly being a packed house every night so again there’s a lot of things going on with this team as far as positivity so again I like to see what this Philly’s team are going to do it with Don Browski is he going to go for a BigTime bold move or is he going to kind of like Hey listen if it ain’t broke you know it’s not worth fixing so it’s kind of see what you know it’s going to be interesting what he does you know moving forward uh this dimes checking back in again he says Strider is out and now they just lost M yeah and Chris Sals kind of had a bad game too yesterday he got rocked by that krian Oakland lineup man I looked at that I was like Wow again that game yesterday was so mindboggling because the A’s jumped out to a huge lead the bravs fought the I give them their credit man they fought back in that game the T and then they blow it and it’s just like to me I just feel like there’s something I think the injuries are starting to catch up with them but uh Steve checking in says Uncle Drew definitely has something to prove to Boston ah your boy your partner checking in here on attack and 30 goes Luca and Kyrie Boston got lucky with stars getting injured in each rounds leading up to the finals okay uh he said uh Joe Hill checking back in he says do you move Sosa to the Outfield when Trey Turner gets healthy I say no he’s not an outfielder you don’t try to put a round peg in it’s weird like uh one thing about topper he’s been bouncing around so up and down this lineup you know I se on S as high as a in a two Hole uh he’s tried SOS out this week so um it’s very interesting to see what he does with Sosa uh but listen Mike before we go any further listen I got I’m have to apologize to uh one of the hosts here on the at the network here that’s one Joe sheer because me and him got you know meet him had some words not you know we’re just agree to disagree and like the maturity of Bryce Harper I I I felt like was wrong of him to again throughout the week you know one game he was slamming his helmet uh he got it kind of into with the UMP I didn’t think that needed to happen then you know uh out there in San Fran he gots into it uh with Mr Harrison Kyle har Harrison he gets into it Kyle Harrison threw a high pitch inside and then he throws it again and then they kind of had words going back and forth and the you the bench cleared so at at the time I looked at I’m like why is he doing this as leader why is your captain the voice of SE to face this team doing it but then as the week’s going on I sat back and I really watched him now he’s again throughout this uh series he’s your best hitter uh hit has he has four hits uh he’s four for seven right now so again when I look at it um he’s just got passion and that’s what the whole team is it’s just passionate team they they’re having fun they’re being a a well you know again they’re having fun but they’re doing their jobs they’re studying pictures they’re talking to each other they’re chirping they’re not just sitting like every other Dugout sitting there eating peanuts and they’re tun on their nails they’re sitting there communicating they’re having fun they’re looking and stunning every pitch I mean this team and I Gotta Give Toppers do here he’s got this team just just in a a must-win out and let’s know let’s really run it back a lot of people say double header was miserable the second game of the double header didn’t start until after midnight uh Mitch Williams got the game-winning hit at quarter to five in the morning um me being a young teenager lad at the time I was uh 17 we did not leave the stadium until 5:30 because that’s when the Broad Street Line and the El started running and it literally I I walked in my door at 6:30 got grounded because I didn’t communicate to my mother that I was going to to be that late um so and she didn’t believe me that the game went on that long until my older brother actually came down the next day uh he stopped by the house and he goes man he goes Mike must have had a great time being there until you know my mom was like that really happened and he’s like oh yeah he goes the game didn’t end till like quarter to five and my mom felt so bad because she thought I was lying to her needless to say my brother gives me tickets for the next weekend Phil’s Dodgers it goes 20 Innings but I was smart this time I made a phone call and look I’m still here I’m alive we’re good and we got a call so I’ll be home in 20 minutes afterwards smart man listen look you had a busy weekend again you hanging out with the cocer uh people know I wasn’t around last week I was covering uh all you know NCAA lacrosse I mean all weekend I spent living at that at Lincoln Financial Field living in there we all saw your pictures of your meals yeah well listen real fast I mean dude I got in there I got a Tali sausage right I got one and I got two and I wrapped in one big giant roll and one somebody was like uh like I got every like all these ESPN and like all the ESPN guys and everybody just staring at me and and they’re like you’re gonna eat that I said you don’t call me the God for nothing three bites bro and and and this and this monster over here everyone was like Wow and I said yeah I said dude I took that thing down me my math is nothing you know I mean so uh but yeah you got all ESPN guys going see this guy SW swallowing sausages at the link this e amazing you’re probably on somebody’s board up at ESPN somewhere like y’re the Nathan hot do contest well and that and one thing was pretty cool um again not a big big follower of NE D football but I got the meet Marcus Freeman their head coach uh pretty nice guy got to chill and talk to him for a minute um it was really cool I mean really you didn’t mind taking a photo not Star Struck but uh we saw the uh the that chain I was like yeah my man is getting paid nice that’s all that’s all I gotta say but yeah great dude man uh got like I said chop up a little bit you know told him a I was a Penn State fan but you know I kind of mum that underneath my breath you know no to walk around like an embarrassment you know because they’re a head coach but that’s a whole different story uh but anyway uh great Le said you and I were busy all last weekend but look we’re back at it our broadcast our our producer uh he’s out of it he’ll be back next week I have to give Al a great uh guys there’s a reason why Al’s not here today Al is one of the guys that uh he’s one of the you know he does Delco live as every a back to these comments real quick as we’re busting down Steve says we seriously need to give Caleb cam some love some Klo he gets many sub many sub changes to many different pitches I believe that um our boy Sean kill checking in says Pat all good things come to an end for Boston will lose luuk and Kyrie will do damage that’s yeah but that’s only two players they got a whole bench they got a whole Army up there and I and I hate to admit it there they’re uh Sean it’s but that’s that’s they got a death bench a heavy death bench right there okay he was answering my question from earlier he said the Yankees go steinber son it’s it’s himself okay I don’t know what he meant by that but all right um again Steve chcken goes I thought Cassy is through 20126 options maybe it will be Crawford time um I believe he is signed to 2026 I’m not saying that but I got I just have a feeling he’s gonna get moved um he’s not producing um uh yeah yes and no I mean I get a lot of people get on him but I’ll tell you one thing he does a lot of people don’t do in this lineup like those ugly balls and again he should not be again one thing he can’t be it’s it’s obviously it’s it’s ing graded in him he’s he’s very aggressive after the first pitches very aggressive and he needs to relax he’s always going for the first pitch needs to relax that’s fundamental baseball but there’s things he does that a lot of people don’t and like those High change UPS around the strike zone he makes contact those ones are low in the ground look like he’s ready to play cricket he makes contact on it so he’s still able to produce and keeping balls in play that’s what he do again I will say maybe the lack like you said lack of production should be there and which is not but you know like I said again this team you and I said it millions of times all right at some point Harper’s gonna cool down but you know who’s gonna get hot right when he’s cooling down the guy who’s been the coldest at the time you know what I mean it’s it’s it’s crazy this this this team’s like a stove and you got multiple heated burners and you just you could flu one on whenever you want ah morning Mitch how are you guys make sure you check Mitch hi buddy make sure you check him out Fly Like an Eagle Thursday nights here uh Steve saying I think Sosa tried Outfield early in the uh tried Outfield early in the miners with mix results I’m not sure s can play MLB level Outfield I agree with that I think he’s just an infield now and besides the Phillies have a couple outfielders that they can throw out there for right now uh Brad checking in says hey he goes how guys how about them Phillies right now they are heating up Brad 41 they are looking good Brad they really are man and uh they gotta just keep winning uh he said I was at the game after I saw the movie The Firm okay oh so you were one of those guys that snuck in around two o’clock in the morning huh Steve because that’s one thing I will remember about that game yeah here he is look they let us in my buddy’s brother came my buddy’s brother literally came down from like Kensington came down found like the game was going on they weren’t doing nothing they walked up and the guards were like come on here you know the real story behind that why so many people got in is because Spector guard at the time didn’t want to pay the guys overtime so they said look you guys are out of here at one o’clock so they just left the gates open and people were walking in it was great uh Brad says prediction on today’s matchup Lynn versus walker uh take the open I know you know Brad for me I it’s hard with this I I might have to say the Phillies might lose because I don’t believe in Walker Walker costes me none but gray hair it’s it’s it’s becoming a if at this point I know it’s gonna sound crazy and I know guys are comfortable in the roles but I would like to give stum another chance at you know com be a starter than Walker I would love to see Walker go to and that’s something that we can’t but if you’re lining up you got AJ Brown Devonte Smith John Ross and Paris Campbell that’s a hell of a four set of wide receivers so that’s on the offensive side of the ball defensive side of the ball Isaiah Rogers has just been lights out they said he uh mainly covering Devonte Smith and was doing a pretty darn good job of it he looks to be doing he’s kind of Swing himself in there I think the Eagles right now they’re secondary which has been a question mark If you really look at it besides I don’t think bradberry’s going to be here I think they’re working Herz being the face of the Eagles and I’m very comfortable with um I’m very comfortable with Harper being the face of the Phillies but for me the Sixers right now I don’t want him be as the face of my team I I would put Maxi is the face of my franchise Joel’s had his time he’s going on 10 years now he’s about to play his 10th season you know what I mean yeah listen we talked about how great he is on the floor and all that stuff but at the same token there’s a reason why he hasn’t won the big one yet there’s a reason why he hasn’t got past the second round listen I you’re preaching to the choir that plain and simple now I will say this this past season I will not hold it on and beat okay this year it was not his fault this year his surrounding players failed him I will be the first one to admit that like I said but again Pat still didn’t get the job done no when again when I look at the season in a uh through a Cy class it to me Joan beid again with the knee injury he was limping around maybe that was half him maybe it was half the company trying to rush him back on floor because there Soul the the demise of the season they try and get him back on the floor again we all saw that gold State game it was like you saw a guy limping around in the back of your mind like all right when’s this going to go bad and it did and then when that happened you m he had eight weeks of bad basketball he came in he played okay but again this is like a joean beid on a 53% good like I mean come on I mean how much so like every time and and I’m get to the point with you Mike every time this guy gets in there everyone’s like all right well listen we’ll just put we’ll fold at the at the Texas home table will fold and we’ll uh we’ll come back next year like I’m tired I’m getting tired of Mike here saying there’s a lot of great players in every sport who never won titles does that tarnish their career yeah it does tarnish them because people look at look at Dan Marino Dan marinho went to the Super Bowl his second year never sniffed the Super Bowl again but it tarnished him because he never won the big one and tell you what that’s in football right here Barkley stockt and Malone Marino right that that is the qu it does uh question just as transparent medical staff was how much minous trimmed because they have to change the offense now uh Allen irvon has to be the greatest
