“Expected to offer an extension” and “expected to extend” are not the same statements. We offered an extension to buddy hield last offseason, and those negotiations went nowhere. Not saying this will end the same way, but just because we offer him something doesn’t mean it’s a done deal by any means.
Edit: the max extension we can offer him is 140% of the league average salary, which will probably be less than $20 million a year. It’s not impossible that he thinks he can get more than that.

Shocking development. LOL. It’s still seems crazy we got this guy with a second round pick, though. He’s playing better than our recent lottery picks. His final couple of games in the ECF of all places looked like borderline All-Star performances against one of the strongest defensive teams.

Love to see it, but now I have to do the sums on what we CAN offer. Anybody already done that?
I assume the FO would be happy going to about 80/4? And when would that kick in, if I recall well his contract is structured oddly because we immediately extended him to his 8,5/4 deal. We have a team option for 25/26, so does that mean he gets that 80/4 after next season (24/25)?
Super excited though. I’ve been on the Nembhard train since we drafted him and it’ll take a hell of a lot to get me off it.
