Should The Toronto Raptors Select Kel’el Ware 19th In The NBA Draft?
believe it or not the NBA draft is going to take place this month what’s up everybody it’s JJ buckets and of course I’m doing a draft profile that’s the usual drill you know that’s why you show up to this channel before I fully get into things um speaking of usual drills leave a like on the video goes a long way in the algorithm subscribe to the channel if you’re new here plus if you plan on doing any responsible sports betting in the near Futures make sure to check out my link in the description below khil we starting off the strengths as usual he’s a great interior scorer right like I think that’s an obvious standout for him whether it be as a rim Runner whe whether it be catching it on the inside in the post and scoring from there he’s got a good repertoire as far as his post Arsenal goes he’s a very capable scorer on the inside I think he’s going to be a very good pick and roll partner for somebody and he should have no issue getting buckets in that regard but one of the surprising things especially from this past season that obviously emerged onto the scene was he could knock down three pointers as well now granted granted granted the volume wasn’t exceptionally high for him by any means when it came to his three-point shooting but when he was shooting the ball like hey man like the mechanics didn’t look too bad the mechanics definitely didn’t look too bad now look I don’t think I would expect this guy to show up in the NBA look like a Brooke Lopez like a splash mountain or anything but at the very least if you’re leaving him wide open you know in the corner or something and you get the ball to like you get the ball to him I think he probably knocked down that shot with some consistency for sure like maybe not the same production that he was doing in Indiana but man like I I think it’s doable I think he definitely has the opportunity to stretch his game out to that and make defenses respect him or at least make defenses pay for giving him that shot so I think that’s a big bonus you know especially when you couple it with his interior scoring and I think the big major major strength with him is as a rim protector specifically as a rim protector I mean I don’t know if I throw out the word elite but at the very least he’s a great one I don’t think he’s going to have any issues and I mean any issues whatsoever uh defending the basket as as a river protector as a weak side helper whatever the case is like he’s going to be able to come in there he’s going to be able to start chaos distort the offensive play I think he’s going to be a very sound positive when it comes to that regard moving over to the weaknesses as much as I like wear and his ability to be a room protector to be a paint Defender you really better hope that you know he doesn’t get drawn out literally anywhere else outside of the pains and outside of his position as a room protector because he’s a little limited defensively other than that and I mean hey look he plays the five spot that’s not really the biggest like crucifixion of a player is that hey like all he’s good at as an interior Defender well like he’s supposed to be a great interior Defender and he’s not necessarily supposed to be you know good in other spots however everybody knows switching happens a lot in basketball and in particular mismatch hunting is very obviously a thing that also happens a lot in mande basketball and man if this guy gets brought into space if this guy gets brought into the perimeter he’s going to get cooked he’s probably going to get cooked look like I don’t think anybody is going to be throwing on the tape of him really defending in space defending in isolation and going yeah yeah like like heyen he’s just he’s just not that great at it and look I mean it maybe it’s something that kind of comes along with time in a lot of cases you know these great paid defense ERS will eventually work on that aspect of their game enough to kind of fill it out um but yeah just where currently stands you don’t want this guy in space you really don’t um I think a big thing with him as well his effort levels are definitely questionable so I know it was a big thing in terms of the story of his first season uh at Oregon and like to an extent like those concerns have been minimized but I don’t think they’re fully gone just yet because there’s times where you’ll watch the game that he’s playing and you’ll just see stretches where the effort sucks the effort sucks right like there’s just stretches where that effort really does suck like he’ll be setting poor screens he’ll be almost non-existent on an offensive possession or sometimes you just feel like he’s a little lethargic defensively like the effort sucks sometimes and intangibles are a hard thing to measure I’m not going to pretend like they’re not but sometimes you can have the most talented player in the world which I’m not saying he is but he is fairly gifted as an allaround offensive player at the very least like he’s got some decent offensive skills he’s obviously got good skills as a r protector and sometimes you know just you can be the most gifted player in the world and if that effort sucks that effort sucks you’re not really going to capitalize on having those gifts right which is unfortunate but I do feel like Bears relevance when it comes to the conversation around him and then the last thing I’ll say is just a little bit of a cleanup uh with his turnovers would be nice uh there’s no reason that he should be having I think it was what like 1.6 turnovers a game uh playing the center spot so that’s a little ugly you definitely want to you definitely want to see improvements in that regard where is an interesting guy for me where huh where I’m I’m convinced that he’ll be like a rotational piece for like I think he’s got enough in that regard but in terms of you know the highend ceiling and such I I can’t say I really see it I’m not going to lie I mean look as is the case with like a lot of young prospects in general sometimes it really does just take the right team to bring out the best version of a player which is why the draft process is not an exact science by any means like you can do all The Scouting that you want but sometimes it really just matters on the situation that somebody ends up in uh at the end of the day when it comes to wear I think he’s got a lot of good gifts that make him a really talented player I just I don’t know if I ever really see him like really really clicking in the NBA past like you know just a good rotational piece like I I think he’s going to be a good rotational piece maybe like a low-end starter but yeah like outside that it’s just I don’t see the vision all right like I I I see the vision I I I see the vision but I don’t know if I believe in the vision is what let me let me put it that way all right what do you folks think uh comment below give me your thoughts on where I know it’s a guy that’s popped up in my comment sections a couple of times so want to do the due diligence of properly looking at him and yeah he’s all right um usual drill end of the video leave a like on it uh greatly appreciate it subscribe to the channel if you’re new here other than that it’s been JJ buckets it’s been a pleasure and I will see everybody next time [Music]
The NBA Draft takes place later this month. For the Toronto Raptors, the team only has two selections in the draft: 19 and 31. One of their biggest needs heading into the draft will be that of a backup big. Is Indiana Hoosiers Center Kel’el Ware the solution to that problem?
