Part 2: Detroit Pistons Face Uncomfortable Questions Around Value Of Young Players This Offseason
what’s the deal welcome back to the second part of our episode with James Edwards I thir this is going to be a very short intro just want to let you guys know appreciate you guys for tuning in we are coming back into this episode we’re we’re talking about free agency and the question of value in keeping the young players around and bringing in free agents or the valuing bringing in free agents and then moving the young some of the young guys or maybe some some better quality veterans just those type of players that’s the conversation we’re in if you want want know where the conversation was at beforehand we’ll listen to the first part of the episode posted that yesterday but this is the second part of the episode I hope you guys enjoy it um oh I almost left you guys without letting you guys know this today’s episode is brought to you by Game Time download the game time app create an account and use code locked inba for $20 off your first purchase terms apply now hope you guys enjoying the rest of this episode if you guys like the two part episodes let me know in the comment section down below but until then you guys will be seeing past me soon so I’ll catch you guys later peace out I hope that answer question no yeah then that last point I I kind of want to take it somewhere the last point of the value you got to figure out their value so like on the last episode I spoke about if it was me I would be moving Jay and Ivy if if I was the president of basketball operation I would probably be trading Jay and Ivy in five and see what I can get I it’s no secret that I’m not as high on Jay and Ivy anymore and I’m not as high as other people are on Jay and Ivy however like I said in the last episode I feel like just reading between the lines that if there was one to move it would be Duren because if you’re going to again defensive center to me it seems like that they really were offut by how bad the the the defense was at the center position this past year it sounds like it was bad everywhere they were off put by it everywhere but I think it was very clear that the the young centers they had needed to they were hoping there was more of a stride there for sure yes so if you go and get Claxton he’s the five and I feel like part of the reason why Stu I feel like part of the things with Stu in his Improvement I feel like he started realize what he is and he started to accept what he is and and play to that I feel like the team was starting to realize what he is I feel like a lot of people I feel like almost 90% of people agreed that his position as a back of five is as a stretch five that’s where his best value is as a stretch five and he’s I mean he’s better than Duran right now so if you go out and get Claxton at the five and then you have Stu who I think most people would agree as his best position would be at the five and he’s a defense he’s a defensive Guy where where’s the you’re kind of running into a crunch of numbers I feel like with durren now you could play durren and Stu together Off the Bench I I feel like you’re not I feel like you then are not getting the most out of stew then and for someone First St a player that you have actually committed money to who and is one of the only players who actually has gotten better I don’t feel like I don’t understand why you would go that route if that’s the route you want to go I don’t really understand why you would do that but that that’s that’s my point that’s a that’s I I I get where you’re coming from my question back to you would be so you’re saying that you think for crunching purposes that durren would make the most sense my question to you is where do you think the value is in a nonf floor spacing Center that struggles defensively so I’m glad you asked that question I’m gon revert a question back to you I think we both know I want to make it clear durren has the stuff he’s shown as a playmaker is very promising he’s obviously already an elite rebounder um great lob threat but obviously he’s not a he doesn’t shoot and he has to improve defensively as does most of the team they were atrocious defensively so my my answer to you would be just a question back to you when when should the Pistons start asking themselves that question like every I’ve been saying I’ve been writing it they got to ask them they got to look through that roster and ask themselves those questions they should have been doing that as soon as day one like that question is is being asked by like like you said like you’re hinting towards like other teams are going to be asking themselves that question my whole point this whole offseason is well if every other team’s asking that question when when should you start asking that question but but what I will say too is even though like I just asked you that say the Pistons ended up getting Claxton and maybe the Brooklyn I think it was their owner was on some um panel or something not a few weeks ago talking about how it sound like he wants to build slowly or or something like that like okay what if Duren went to Brooklyn and then he has guys like Mel Bridges and Dorian finy Smith and maybe even Ben Simmons ahead of him like in terms of that first line of defense um I think that would help mitigate some of the the the the the struggles he has right now as he tries to fell up on that side of the floor so I think there are teams who would be interested if they have the right situation just like I I’ve heard you say and I’ve heard others say like maybe people still value Ivy highly because they just say oh it’s the Piston situation he’s he just doesn’t fit well with Cade like there’s a world where people look at Duran like they maybe look at that team and it’s like well there’s nobody that really stood in front of the ball or kept the ball in front of them except assar and Stu and maybe we can help him by having we have Kell Bridges and I’m just using them as an example Dorian finy Smith and maybe that helps unlock him defensively or at least doesn’t put so much pressure on him too so I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder for sure um I think I think both of them have some value around the league like I don’t think they don’t have any but what to what extent that’s the question sorry my no you’re good so look this is going to come off this I already know how this is going to go this is going to come off of me hating on them like I said I would keep durren if it was me I would keep durren I he’s younger and I think he’s he’s improved offensively his defense is really where it needs to come from I I my just where I’m at and then we’ll move into you know we’ll answer all we had like 60 Questions coming so I I we’ll just make the rest like answering these questions and maybe we end cing to this what I feel like let me summarize what I think you’re about to say go you feel more confident that Duren will become a passable Defender than it is that I becomes a uh legitimate floor spacer well or legitimate secondary playmaker in yes so okay so let me let me give okay so let me give my yes but so this is where my thought process is and just just follow with me for a second no I’m not saying you’re right or wrong I’m just trying to yeah yeah so okay so with durren my thought process is durren is really bad defensively however he has shown some things offensively are are some rare traits in off in a in a big S as a as a big guy I agree so it’s like okay intriguing yes and he’s showcased some of the dribble Drive stuff like some of that stuff it’s he the decision making on some of it because his freedom really got out of hand kind of it was wishy-washy but the fact that it’s there you see that popping you think that that’s something you can you know kind of CRA rain in a little bit yeah right so durren showed that and also he’s much younger so that he’s really young so I can see why you’d say like you said bring in a Claxton let durren sit for three years because in three years like you said he’s only 23 and heck maybe happens sooner he really develops defensively so and I don’t like I don’t like just interrupt you real quick I don’t like even like the word sit it’s just taking maybe turning 22 to 25 turning 30 38 to 30 minutes a night into 26 to 22 minutes a night just not have to rely on does not have to put so much on his shoulders at such a young age right I agreed agreed so that’s where I meant with that so the thought process then shifts to my core process is they cannot bring all these young guys back they just can’t they’re in the fourth year of this rebuild you’re about to sign K to this Max extension it sounds like like everyone’s expecting that like you cannot go back out there again with this it’s just not going to happen there’s too much pressure from all angles for you to do that you just can’t you can’t do it and also select a young guy at and bring like that you can’t do that you can’t right so if if I’m cool with Duren my this is where my thought process then goes it sounds like that the org and maybe trasan isn’t we’ll see but it sounds like to me like read between lines crazy word but go ahead what org organization I know what you meant like I don’t really hear people say org like it just sounded nuts but go ahead I’m sorry it just threw me off I know what you mean I know what you mean it just I don’t know it just a weird word you never say the or before I us should just say organization maybe it’s because like I I’m obviously a I’m a writer so like I don’t I can’t write out or I don’t yeah I just usually it just I don’t know go ahead I’m sorry okay it just threw me off I was like or is just a weird ass word or weird uh freaking word yeah yeah yeah yeah so so like my thought process then okay if you’re high on assar the purpose of being a high on AAR was that his future as a secondary playmaker that was why I was high on assar and why I thought he should be the pick at five that okay if you believe in his future as a secondary playmaker then he’s the pick if you don’t think you has that he does has that in him he shouldn’t be there at five so they took him at five so obviously they must be high on that so if he if you believe his future is as a secondary playmaker you also have to remember though when you say they it’s not the same they anymore yeah right right so like so that factors into it I think they value I think the people that are coming in will like assar and value assar and the fact that he’s only played one year will help him but we can’t sit here and say that we can’t sit here and I know it’s just natural but neither one of us can sit here and say they value this guy anymore we’re not sure yet we’re not sure fair enough fair enough so I’ll say for me I the reason why the reason why I thought Asar was the F pick at five was because of his secondary playmaking potential his secondary ball handling in the future Cas right so if that’s the case if you’re longterm and he’s a two-way that’s a guy who can be a secondary playmaker ball handler and also all League defender like you can’t teach what he does defensively you can’t teach what he does attacking the rim you can’t teach those things right so I have someone in that where does that leave ivy for me like that at that point if that’s where I’m at with it what does that leave for Ivy that that from that question and then the other question I then have I asked this to Omari and Bryce when they were on the podcast people people don’t like this when I say this because I I just say the you know I just say the truth you know stop worrying about what people say and think man there’s a mute button people fair enough we can’t have discourse in any sports without like if you don’t agree there’s a way to disagree without like being a I can’t curse without I know what you’re about to say but without being a turd man like there’s ways to disagree with people like I welcome disagreement but there’s ways to do it respectfully like we just got to we got to Usher that in man but go ahead don’t worry about what other people don’t worry about if other people are mad your this is your podcast this is your thoughts get your your okay so what does Ivy do right now above an NBA level I like outside of his athleticism his ability get pink touches he’s lightning quick that’s that’s yeah that’s all I think he has right now as an MB as an above average NBA skill and my problem is okay he’s he is very he is one of the most athletic players in the league and he is a paint touch but is he is he is he generating anything out of those paint touches he’s not a good finisher right now he’s not a good passer he makes he makes bad passes questionable decision-making so it’s like okay it’s one NBA skill right now and again this is not to say he won’t be a really good player in the future we’re talking about right now game time makes getting NBA final tickets even faster and easier purchase download game time today last minute tickets lowest price guaranteed with game time right if if if right now all I have after two years of the bank bank on is his athleticism where he’s not even actually making uh what’s the word I’m looking for capitalizing off of what that creates for him for himself and the team well what do I have and then also he’s not he’s bad defensively so it’s like okay so like that’s way I feel like I’m betting on more with Ivy like you’re you’re asking me to believe that he’s going to become a better finisher he’s gonna be a better decision maker he’ll be a better passer he’s also going to be above League average three-point shooter because right now he’s not been a good shooter this past year he was I believe I been streaky 32 to 33 right but I think Synergy has him around like 20th around the 20th or 30th percentile in spot UPS yeah so like he’s not a good shooter and he’s a bad Defender so you’re asking me to bank on all that turning around like you’re asking me to bank on all that happening where like I with Duren I’m really just banking on his defense and assar I can live with assar not being a good a good shooter if I believe going to be a secondary playmaker and he already has an NBA skill I believe in being like a great defender so it’s like that’s where I end up that’s that’s my whole thought process and why I end up where I’ve been at the whole offseason which is I would move Ivy and five to see what I can get that’s that’s how I get to where I get to can I ask you one followup yes sir if you’re coup the president of jet basketball operations for the Atlanta Hawks who are and we’re saying hypothetically here I’m not saying this is happen happening the Hawks are going to start say the Hawks get back their first round pick from let’s not use the Hawks cuz that’s too much jumping hoops uh who’s a re who’s a team that’s about to rebuild um Toronto in the process of rebuilding if you’re C if you’re if k k kahil is Messi yujiri are you trading for Jaden Ivy no I’m not no so my question to you is you don’t so you’re at you want them and that’s and I’m saying this because me and you both get this where it’s like player people want players to be moved because they see flaws X Y and Z but then don’t kind of put into um uh put into perspective that if they believe this that maybe other teams do too right so my question to you is like if you’re another team like what are you banking on do are you banking on that Jaden has those things and Detroit situation and was just not set up for him I think that would be the selling point but you don’t believe that’s the case is what you’re saying I right as of right now I don’t know but like I said I’ve said this on the podcast before that’s why I think you need to move off of that’s why I believe you should move off him this offseason because right now two years away from the draft after his draft he still has that Mystique like these players still have that Mystique of if he was high on your draft board it’s like hey it’s only been two years I can make him what like I believe he can still be this every year after a draft class the Val like guys the Mystique runs off like I throw this example as a very extreme one people are gonna take it too serious but I think but like if if you traded Killian Hayes the day after the 2020 draft you would have got something for him but if you traded Killian Hayes two years three years after it’s like okay now the each year like as time goes on well clearly we saw the point is is that the farther you get away from the draft the more the Mystique runs off and more the if they’re not improving the value goes lower and lower so that’s why that’s why I say the Pistons need to ask themselves the question maybe they arrive to a different answer than me and that’s fair if they’re higher on Ivy and they believe it that’s I’m not saying you’re crazy they just have to ask like I and I assume those questions are being asked but I agree like we’ve both been saying for a while like those questions have to be asked because of how bad last year was they didn’t th this process in my opinion and maybe Trent says otherwise and he’s willing to uh keep all of the youth around and evaluate himself for at least through the deadline but I think last year forced them to have to rush this sooner than they wanted to I think the I don’t think it’s I don’t think that means it’s a bad thing either I just think that I just it’d be hard for me to run it back I think that the deadline point is interesting too because I do think that it’s possible that the deadline is the most likely scenario where you see any guy get moved and I I understand how that would make sense too um but yeah me that’s just how I get to where I get to but let’s yeah’s move anything you said is crazy I mean I mean it is what it is man you feel me but we’re trying we’re trying like you said to stop caring so much about what some of the haters say because is what it is but let’s go ahead and move let’s move let’s move to some of these questions so now for the rest of the podcast for the rest of this episode this is going to be the second part of our episode so let’s the rest of this is just going to be answering all the questions that you guys sent in um we got 65 questions I’m still getting notification so it might like more come through so we’re about to do all 65 well that’s what I said that about to say there 65 of these so like let’s keep that in mind I’m gonna try to get through as many as possible so let’s you know okay time a little bit of a time uh you know feel me uh all right so first one this is a fun one we me and you’ve already talked about this on like we’ve texted each other this one’s from Easy he says Kendrick or Drake just the battle or who do I like more uh it seems like the battle just well Kendrick won the battle I don’t I think anybody who’s even if you’re a drake fan but you’re not a oio Stan you should say Kendrick but I’m I’m I’m more of a Krick guy like I’ve uh I’m a big music nerd big hip-hop nerd and like I remember finding like Kendrick Lamar on two Dope Boys listening to Kendrick Lamar EP and like my freshman year college or whatever year that was so I’ve I’ve I’ve I’ve long been a Kendrick fan I just like that I just like that rap more but I I am a drake fan I’m like I’m not one of those as nerdy of a rap fan as I am I’m not like too good to say like when Drake spits pause Drake gets Drake can rap and I one thing I want to say in defensive Drake We need to stop slandering honestly never mind no stop stop stop I’m so look Drake Drake is my favorite artist of all time Drake is a I love that but come on come on afro beat or like dance all like you don’t you haven’t hit the night and like uh and uh what’s what’s my jam on there the only song on there is techco flight book see you you don’t got you need to take your your wife out and like just drive around to like flights booked or like take her to the like okay you need to you need to take a week off of the Pod and hit the hit the summer do me a favor do me a favor one of these days get in your car at night just go for like a 30 minute drive and just throw on flights booked and start from there with honestly never mind and just like relax honestly I I like dance hall afro beat Drake so no I like afro beats I I I messed with afro beats but I didn’t like that one that’s I didn’t like that one that’s fair I’m all right okay so the next one that we got is um okay this I feel like this would be a longer answer all right try to keep these answers quick as possible I will I’ll go I’ll go rapid fire go ahead all right this one’s from Brian on Twitter it says reasonable return on Ivy if Langston decides him and Kade can’t play together those ones are always it’s hard to ask that’s why like when I do those pieces I when I do those stories at the athletic I like ask my colleagues like I propose trades to them um I would think you would I would hope like a a starter level player like I don’t think like a like I’m not saying DeAndre Hunter but like a player like that like who’s a borderline starter six-man type player okay uh next one is from he says over under two and a half of the core four being on the roster next year so he’s talking about ksr Ivy Duren two and a over under two and a half over under two and a half over all right there you go uh this one’s from Jahim on Twitter he says should the Pistons prioritize instant impact or potential in the draft if you’re if the Pistons are going to go all in on free agency I’m fine with like getting a guy and having them barely ever play so like get the whoever like get the prospect even if he’s nowhere near ready now higher ceiling guy and as long as you’re going to tell me that you’re going for it in free agency all right next one is from Maurice he says What teams do the Pistons need to look at to help with their rebuild I think Houston because of the situation similar with the cap space um I think Minnesota prize pick is America’s number one fantasy sports up with more than 5 million members it is the most fun and exciting way to get in on the action while you watch your favorite sports and players you just pick more or less on two or more player stats for a shot to Wi up to 100 times your cash if you’re price pick is absolutely amazing I love it you should download the app today and use code lock NBA for a first deposit match up to $100 Again download the app today and use code lock in NBA for a first deposit match up to $100 pick more pick less it’s that easy with prize picks simply because I think people always had the preconceived notion that once you get the number I think with Cade and even with Troy when it was like they were tearing it down I think a lot of casual fans came to the Pistons and maybe equated like football or their football knowledge to this or just just when they thought number one pick like thought LeBron James and like thought your franchise immediately turned around if you look at in between the the W the Wolves first got technically got the didn’t unofficially got the number one pick when they traded love for Andrew Wiggins right nothing happened really then they get the number one pick again they get cat years later nothing really happened then even more years later they got Anthony Edwards and now stuff’s happening I just uh not everything is linear um and if you kind of stay with it just long enough with the right guys like you just never know what might happen all right the next question is and this one uh is is going to be a f is a fun one but uh this person asked uh how long do you think the Pistons should start the timer for when Kade asked out so I’m let’s change the question to what does that mean so like how long should the Pistons I’m assuming he’s saying how long what what how concerned basically should the Pistons be like how how quickly do they need to turn it around they feel like before they feel the pressure of Kade asking out I think that would be two seasons away assuming he signs the extension this summer he still has one more rookie year left on one more rookie one more year left on his rookie deal and then the max kicks in I don’t I don’t think he has that power to do that for at least another two years right this person asked on Twitter that uh do you believe the well he can do whatever he wants sorry let me clarify he can do whatever he wants I don’t know if it’s wise to do that right at that point okay so Jeremy asked on Twitter do you believe the Pistons are more inclined to go after an All-Star if they’re made available like Brandon Ingram or Deonte Murray and trade for trade a few young guys to get it done or go just go after the likes of Monk Harris Trent Jr Claxton and some guys or some of the free agents and have some of the young guys just come off the bench I think but if you had to go with which one you think is more likely this I don’t think you’d have to give up multiple young guys well Atlanta might ask for multiple young guys to get dejonte I wouldn’t give up multiple young guys for deante and I don’t think it’ll cost multiple young guys unless you count the pick for Ingram like I don’t think it would be two players plus the pick to get Ingram uh my thing with Ingram is and I don’t know this is it’s very clear New Orleans did not want to extend him and the Pistons president of basketball operations just came from New Orleans so I don’t know if he was one of the ones in the building that did or didn’t want to so it’s hard for me to say how realistic going after Bandon Ingram is right right now at this yeah I heard uh I had said this on a podcast when the rumors started going on about bi I had heard from somebody over in New Orleans that kind of temper The Temper the breaks potentially on that uh not ruling it completely out but just to temper the expectation so I don’t know how one should read into that but there you go um I’m a big bi fan so I would I would love love he’s cool her he’s good with the media yeah he’s I I like watching him play but you know one of my favorites all right so this is a fun one he this is from bra Cunningham says Hey coup I know both of y’all be hooping in real life so you should do a fun part where you give yourselves player comps at the end nothing serious but just play style-wise so James I’ll let you go first James if you had to wh what what’s your what’s your player style what’s your player comp now man I’m like a dime throwing two guard who only really likes to shoot off the dribble but like I um G who’s yours give me a second let me think so I don’t have a player I just have a description I can’t think of a player that so like back a few years ago before I like really started working on like shooting threes I started taking a lot of midi so I people always call say I play like Demar or Melo got I take a lot of midies but I don’t think that’s the case any I don’t take mid anymore I only take threes so the player whatever player I am just know that you’re getting a volume score I’m shooting the ball damn near 20 times and I’m probably not GNA pass that much and I’m going to score a bit but I need I do you play 2K no I can’t I can’t do it did you play it back like I I played I used to play I used to play yeah you know the badge volume shooter yeah like you know the point of the badge is like hey you don’t get hot unless you take more more shots like that’s that’s true I got like volume shooter Hall of Fame if I only take like two or three shots you’re not getting nothing out of me like you’re not getting the max value out now if you give me like 10 to 15 shots now it I’m there you go you’re getting it out of me so whatever like two guard like whatever two guard is just like a instant shoot score off Off the Bench that’s like who I am I’m I’m coming I’m shooting the ball don’t expect me to be passing I’m coming in to score like it is what it is I like that I’m I’m trying to think of a player because I’m not I like to think of I’m not gonna say like the most like I’m obviously gonna say Steph or nothing crazy um I would say I feel like I I play like a guard ver and I just said I wouldn’t say Steph but I I feel like this player wouldn’t be as I’m say I’m gonna say the name and you’re gonna be like shut up James but I feel like the player I’m going to name you it’ll make I feel like I play like a guard version of joic if that makes sense like I’m not calling myself joic because no no no not James you just said you were gonna say the best player in the league but listen but listen but listen we would all agree that if joic was 6 foot 61 like I am wouldn’t be yic fair right that’s that’s what I’m saying like I’m like a i play like 6′ 61 yic but I I do more off the I’m like a point guard I my I it’s hard I don’t know I’ll think of a different one that I’m trying to think of a more like guard player that I can got good question though no it’s a good question I’ll say this for I I’ve had a few people on Twitter actually see me at a run and uh we got to get a run going hey we can run at any point man I’m I’m a Hooper bro but either way I’ll let you know this I’m a Hooper bro I’ll let you know this right now bro I take terrible shots I am a bad shot maker that’s what I am I am to what I say on Twitter about basketball how I analy like I would hate me let’s just say that if I was like scouting me I would hate me like I would ha thater I shoot better with the hand in my face off the dribble like yes same I hate I can’t shoot stand still off the dribble I can shoot yeah like I I’m a good shooter but like I prefer off the dribble far more like crossover crossover heavy step back like I a tough I’m agree we’re the same all right so the last question we’ll wrap up with is do you think the Pistons will keep the pick at five or trade it whether that’s trade back up or for a player again and I hate to sound like a cop out it’s hard to know as this whole new front office just comes in um I know they have been doing workouts for players like prospects um I think they trade back and either get another asset or a player all right we’ll wrap it up player yeah I just want you to know this I I I like I bailed you out a little bit because I there’s about 30 questions here asking him to ask James to give the percentage he thinks Monty’s back give one to 10 toes Monty back I could have asked you one of those but I’m not gonna put I said the other I said the other day I’m as of as of yester well let me say as of Wednesday I was 5050 and I know that sounds like a cop out but if you if you uh I mean I just based on my the people I talk to that’s just where it’s at right now and I think that there could be other decisions that factor into that in the very near future so we’ll see all right we’ll wrap it up there thank you James for coming on man I hope you guys enjoy uh this two-part episode uh this I’m I’m gon say this to you real quick James uh these episodes help me a lot because I edit them all in one night and I can like schedule out two days in advance so now I don’t have to record tomorrow so I appreciate it it like makes me uh makes my life a little easier you feel me so appreciate it yeah man here I I I appreciate you having me bro and uh keep doing what you’re doing and yeah thanks for having me I I I’ll let the audience in a little bit behind like the fourth wall or whatever it’s called what is it called like behind the curtain whatever uh for all you guys who who I could I’ve had a few people say this to me in the comments like why did you and James ever like have beef I just want to let you guys know that like me and James kind of like talked about talked about we are we still rolling yeah we’re still rolling I just want to let people know let’s get it out there it’s it’s been like an you can say say say say the part I think I’ll tell you why because I think that’s the safer one to you never really had know I want you to know that you said that you didn’t want you had to go in an hour so this is not my fault no this will be quick this will be quick I think and I first of all before I say the story I want to say I appreciate your apology before we started um doing this pod I don’t want you to say you were never really you never really yours was never really beef with me yours was more so something else that like I don’t nothing you told me like really like has anything to do with me so I’m not you don’t have to share that because that involves other things what I want to say is what what kind of irked me about you is I felt like when you I forgot which state which when you got your credential uh that was around 2018 19 I felt like I was very helpful to you in the instances you were at games and try to put you on game and and help you navigate some stuff and introduced you to a player or two and and told you you could go talk to this guy I thought I was being very helpful when I obviously don’t have to be and I felt like there would be times on Twitter where you would throw like pot shots at me with years later without recognizing like the what I felt like I was like I’m like damn like I was helping dude out like why like you don’t have to agree with a take but I felt like you were like very aggressive in the way that you were going about it and you apologized and said that you have matured and I agree and I think that part of the reason we’ve been able to kind of uh get past that is because I do think you’ve grown a lot in your not only your what you’re doing now but just how you you handle yourself too uh so I want to say kudos to you for that because I do think you’ve come a long way from just the the crazy fan uh but that was that was that was my beef with you is I and I’m not like one of those people that like if I do something I’m not trying like I’m not [Music] tell that’s not to tell the can you hear me James I think James out like helping him get his feet wet like I’m sure that was nerve wck to be in a locker room and do all that no can you hear me yeah I can hear you now you it was catching up it was catching up all right was the last thing I said that you you you’re not the type of person whatever whatever yeah just long story short and we’ll get out of here is I just I just thought that you were throwing pot shots when I thought I was being extra I just didn’t I just didn’t I didn’t care for that that was kind of whack to me but we’ve got past that all and like like so so I just want to say me and James talked about this like before like it got brought up for some I forget how it got brought up but it got brought up before the podcast and we already discussed we already like went back and forth and talked about it I’m not going to reveal everything that we said before but hey man all I can say is uh Hey man 2024 different time I’m 26 now you feel me you know yeah no we’re all good and like I I don’t know if this part got caught I said wait go ahead no go ahead I was just gonna say I’m 26 now I’m more I’m more mature I’ve I’ve I’ve grown as in my career I think that’s where it was and more so like we mentioned beforehand there were some a there was some what’s the right word I don’t want to say anger but there was some like yeah there you go yeah about my stance where I was and where I was perceived but go ahead whatever you were about to say yeah I was just I don’t know if this part came through when it was lagging but I was just going to say I think one of the reasons we’ve got past this I do I’ve I’ve watched how you’ve evolved um in just your persona online and I I think you do a great job with this pod I don’t listen to many I don’t really listen to any p podcast with all due respect to people who do them I just am consumed by pistons and basketball and there’s just very little that obviously somebody who does a podcast can tell me that I don’t know I’m not trying to like sound like you know what I mean like just you know I mean yeah but you do a great you do a great podcast uh you could tell you’ve definitely like matured and uh you’re you’re certainly like finding your your footing and you’re doing good stuff man so like I said I’m not like I hold grudges but I also can recognize when people have like um put in the work in in I don’t want to say change but put in the work and have like grown so I just want to tip my cap to you buddy yeah I’m I’m you know I’ll go ahead and take it I’m pretty good at what I do you feel me I got the ice now you feel me I got the ice I got all right wrap this up okay all right we’ll wrap it up there appreciate you guys for My dream off-season moves first of all would be to somehow, someway began by first acquiring Lauri Markkanen in a trade from Utah, then extending Cade, re-signing Simone Fonteccio, and then with the remaining cap space sign Nic Clayton and Malik Monk. Like I stated before this would be my dream off-season scenario for our Detroit Pistons 🙏🏾
Starters:
PG Cade Cunningham
SG Malik Monk
C Nic Claxton
SF Simone Fonteccio
PF Lauri Markkanen
Reserves: Ausar Thompson, Marcus Sasser, Quinton Grimes, and Isaiah Stewart.
Starters: Cade, Monk, Claxton, Lauri Markkanen, and Simone Fonteccio.
Reserves: Ausar, Sasser, Beef Stew, Quinton Grimes, and maybe bring Andre Drummond back on a veteran's minimum.
Thanks for having JEIII on Ku.
elite defender yes but secondary playmaker -no
Ku was never high on Jaden Ivey because he’s still butt hurt about Killian, period! P.S. KU YOU ARE THE HATER!
Great episode fellas!
Get Claxton and trade Duren. Duren is a great rebounder at his floor but he needs time. I'd swing on a proven commodity in Claxton to try to start seeing improvement on this roster now. Duren could fit nicely on other teams.
Not like we gonna bring in some dudes and make some kinda big run ….
I don’t understand why JI has to be good at all of those things but ausar just 2 of them
Stop bringing up Brandon Ingram man. He barely plays 60 games a season…please stop 😮💨🤕
Sign Claxton, trade Duren to Nets for Cameron Johnson.
Glad yall squashed that Beef. That being said, how bout we trade Ivey, Stew and the 5th pick for KAT? Starting 5 being Cade, Grimes, Ausar, Fontecchioand KAT. Good mix of spacing and defense on the court. Get a Kris Dunn or another defensive PG off the bench and play Sasser at 2, sign some backup 3&D wings and move duren to backup big
Ku is a great fan YouTuber. He’s an awful talent evaluator. His history is obviously documented. I watch him because he’s in the know, that’s also well documented.
Jalen duren is still very young and full of untapped potential the pistons didnt bring in a veteran center to help Duren development
Jaden Ivey got inconsistent minutes and was the back up to
killian hayes who can't shoot…what the pistons need is 2 forwards that can shoot the 3 ball and defend around Cade,Jalen and Jaden
Monty gonna get canned
Man thank you for being so consistent
