Spurs ‘VERY INTERESTED’ In Darius Garland!
chat chat chat aatat we’ll we’ll start with that since you guys want to start with that uh yes it is true anybody that’s joining it is true uh the San Antonio Spur is very interested in trading for Darius Garland now this this is something actually that’s been going on a minute now right I’ve heard it myself um I don’t like to talk about it too too often but I I get information sometimes right I get a little information I heard it as well um like a few weeks ago so I’m I’m not I’m not surprised at all that this is coming out that they’re they’re interested but I feel as if there were articles on this prior but I don’t recall we do so many videos it’s kind of hard to even it’s it’s hard it’s hard to even keep up with uh but yeah so if we go here San Antonio Spurs reportedly interested in NBA All-Star point guard according to Sam Amo of whoop s the Spurs have interest in a recent Allstar Darius Garland is coming off another extremely productive year with the Cleveland Cavaliers in which he had 18 points 2.7 rebounds 6.5 assists 1.3 steals per contest um uh while shooting 44.6% from the field 37.1% from the three-point range in the course of 57 games uh this off off off season the Cavs will have have a lot of questions to answer about the future of the roster we don’t care about the Cavs we don’t care what they want we just know what we want the Spurs will be extremely intriguing landing spot for Garland uh they are in need for a point guard that can help facilitate the ball uh to Rising Superstar Victor wanyama all right so there’s going to be a lot of rumors running around everywhere just because we’re the Spurs right you have Victor Wim banama you have all this uh Capital you have all these dra picks you you’re going to be in the mix of all of this right no matter who it is you’re going to be in the mix of it and but right now we’ve talked about this so many times the Spurs need three things in my opinion okay um that Lori Mark and stuff I I don’t really care about that I think they need three things the number one thing that they need and I think this is actually the most pressing issue is a defensive wink okay desperately this whole season there were so many games in which we were close and we were playing hard and we started coming together but then lo and behold defense was terrible uh the back court just just just terrible and guards were able to do whatever they wanted and we only have one Jeremy soan that it was it was awful uh so that’s that’s number one that they need and you can get that in this draft that’s why I’m excited about this draft it’s it’s not a great draft but I’m excited about that nonetheless um but number two obviously you need a point guard that’s something that this Spurs are going to need I thought that maybe they would wait till 2025 but it seems like they are in the mix of that right now and thirdly I think that Spurs need a backup uh uh uh Defender behind wimy like we need some type of backup big man uh with all that being said I saw someone in the chat mention what would you give up uh someone mentioned Kellin Malachi and 3 first most definitely I I’ve said this many of times but let me hold on we’ll do a coming draft picks this is what I’ll be willing to give up I think a lot of people underrate uh Darius Garland because of the playoffs but guys he is he is a great talent and under papovich I mean I know that that’s a cliche at this point but under papovich we we can see what he can cook up um but as far as three first what I’ll be willing to do is and I’m I’m I’m going to tell you my mindset on this okay so I am willing to obviously I’m not the GM but we’re just talking hypotheticals Kellin and Malachi those are gim me I I I I think that that’s more than worth it Kellin you guys know how I feel about Kellin at this point and it seems like he’s going to be out the door more than likely uh defensively he’s awful uh and I think that we can upgrade at that position I he’s a great guy I think he’s a he’s a good leader um I I I like his his camaraderie with the team he he is a Spur cultural wise but just on the court it’s just not it’s not cutting it uh so I would cut ties there I do think think Malachi has a lot of promise and hopefully the Cleveland Cavaliers believe that as well the reason why I would include Cavaliers is because maybe it’ll be a little enticing for them cuz we all know that the Cavaliers actually wanted Malachi in the draft they end up getting aaji in which they traded but they want they did want um uh Malachi you know that they just did it cuz they had to uh basically and he just fell and Fa and fell and fell until he uh came to the Spurs Spurs wouldn’t even expecting to get him uh so there’s that so I’m cool with those two uh going this is all for Darius Garland uh now as far as draft picks you said three I actually completely agree with you I I would honestly if the Spurs can manage to do this so there’s a few options I can think of so three I think is is inevitable I’m I’m cool with three number four I’ll be willing to give that up and I’ll tell you that in a minute why that in a minute eight I’m willing to give that up I’m willing to give up both fourth and eighth and I will be willing to give up the Chicago first next year now Chicago I don’t think is that great I think it is going is protected 1 through 10 uh and they’re going to be a pretty mid team and yeah so whatever I don’t know um so it but it’s pretty it’s pretty it will be pretty enticing for another team because it’s more than likely going to convey in a draft that’s really really good I don’t want to give them Atlanta I’m not 100% confident where the Spurs will be this season so I don’t really want to give them ours either like I want to still be able to control um our future so give me keep Atlanta keep our own give them Chicago and these two and the reason why I’m comfortable with giving them these two for 2024 is actually because it’s been rumored that and you guys know I’m I’m a big Holland Holland fan it’s been rumored that Holland is going to fall and if the Spurs can manage to maybe package their second rounds and we have so many future second round picks and move up in this draft that’s not that great uh I I will be with it if you can move up and grab him so then you would get your uh defensive wing and you would get your point guard and then 2025 oh my God the Spurs are going to become nasty now if you don’t do that okay let’s say we don’t give them the fourth uh and the eighth if we don’t want to risk that we want to keep our at least our eighth I would give them fourth I would give them uh Chicago for next here and this is not going to work okay this is not going to work this is where I’m being stingy I would try to give them that Hornets but that’s not going to work they’re not dumb they’re not dumb the Hornets is not going to convey that’s not going to work so if I have to give them something else up I don’t know what I would do cuz 2026 we still have Atlanta’s we still have our own that’s a tough one but one thing I don’t want to hear and I’ve been seeing this way too often is people say I wouldn’t be get I wouldn’t I wouldn’t want to give anything I hate that when you say okay what would you give up for Garland they’re like I wouldn’t give up anything what you want to give up anything that’s terrible notice we started winning games when Kellin and Sohan were out for the season calm down let’s calm down um but yeah so you guys get it that’s what that that’s what I’m willing to give up I really do believe in Darius Garland um he’s he’s a great talent uh he’s exactly what the Spurs need he’ be a massive upgrade I saw I saw like a few comments mentioning Trey Jones like well we got Trey Jones like this would be a massive upgrade massive upgrade and for Less because it seems like right now Trey young would take a lot with cost a lot and you know contextually I would rather have Darius Garland than than Trey young didn’t even know Garland was a possibility is marinin and Garland a possibility uh I don’t think so I don’t think marinin is a possibility it could happen you can Max match salaries getting both I don’t know how you would do that are people talking about papovich I see people saying saying no pop slander allowed but I don’t see anybody actually talking bad about pop it’s not a good draft for Superstar talent but it’s definitely a good draft for a player like Derek Jones Jr Jay McDaniels type player yeah a lot of like a lot of like role players or I I call them icing on the cake players right but our cake ain’t even cooked yet so we we can’t that’s why I’m just not worried about it that much if they’re willing to give the for I’m sorry I love Dilly I love Dilly it’ll be cool if the Spurs get Dilly we’ll see what happens but Dilly I don’t expect him to be as good as Darius Garland like I don’t think his ceiling would be Darius Garland I could be wrong I don’t think so though Garland is better in all facets of the game obviously being older but you know that plays a part but he he is just better in all assets defensively passing ability he he’s just better he’s just a better player so and Dam went to the bench and we started winning games okay I have no idea what’s going on y’all ain’t hearing me but yeah y’all don’t hear me y’all just want to dance like y’all said but yeah um good news I think this is good news you know I guess depending on who you’re talking to they’ll they’ll say something else but I I truly do believe that this is uh good news for the San Antonio Spurs nonetheless that um they or for Spurs fans that is that the Spurs are interested you know we got it we got it set in stone got it set in stone but good stuff good stuff nice

Isnāt he expensive at like 30 million a year
His contract is just so expensive. If we're really going to capitalize on Wemby being a top 20 player being paid $10 million for the next 3 years, then we need to take the opportunity to grab a reasonably paid star or two to play the cap space game to pefection. $40 mil for a non top-30 player seems quite high
I think its gonna take a 3rd team in tanking mode. We would give up two first round picks and some valuable players (the best we got not named Devin, Wemby or Jeremy). The 3rd team would take one of the picks. The other one goes to the Cavs, some players from us (Keldon, Malaki?) and some real good rotation player from the 3rd team that can help the Cavs win now.
That would be a win-win-win.
I want Lauri for the 4th or the 8th for Keldon and use the other to draft a point and move Jeremy to the 3.
I watched the Celtics Cavs series and KJ is way better than Garland. They would need to give us some picks to take that trade.

This has to be bullshit. Why would you trade assets to get a $40M undersized scoring PG when you can just draft Dillingham without paying anything? Heāll probably be better than Garland and comparable at worst
And for the record I donāt really want this type of PG, Iād rather get a pass first guy and develop scoring on the wings with Rissacher, or even Holland. But if we must get a high scoring PG, drafting Dillingham is a way better option than trading for Garland
Sochan defense is overrated
I would not want a Garland in the team, heās injury prone never had a season over 70 games and heās getting paid too much for that.

I don't mind keldon and malaki but 3 firsts is a lot especially also for his contract 2 is the most for me. If I was the spurs I would wait until Garland comes out publicly says I want out and lowers trade value and knowing clutch sports I could see him demanding to go to spurs.

3 first rounds is insane, we laugh in atlantas face till this day for doing what they did for dejounte who plays defense and has come around offensively but weāre will to do the same for garland who doesnāt play defense? Iām confused on top of that trading a young g prospect and keldon who is the heart of the team and in some cases even despite his defensive liability he brings what other players canāt to the team. Iām not understanding any of the logic

The way I see it the spurs donāt need garland. The spurs are known for hand pick players from the draft tony parker drafted 1st round I believe the 28th pick manu 2nd round Kawhi I believe 7th pick via trade from pacers danny greene boris diaw dejounte etc. I would be happy with carlton carrrington at pg the spurs donāt need to rush the process they building like voltron

I think three picks plus two good role players is a lot for Darius.
Remember we got three picks, a pick swap and Danilo Gallinari for Dejounte at his peak. We are getting Darius after statistical regression (he is still as good but does not get the ball enough to show it).
I would rather Trade for Lauri.. we need a better SF… And get a PG Stephon Castle..
I like him a lot, a cheaper Trae Young who seem to have a better fit with the Spurs, and he's still very young and can still improve, especially in a better environment
