Are the Finals already over?
on a n on it’s about the stup I got to say it’s the stupidest thing in sports being able to run as he shoots the moon to the fans here in Green Bay that is a disgusting act by Randy Moss this is not Detroit man this is the Super Bowl we go from the G and is CAU touchdown This is BS Sports and welcome in welcome in on a Tuesday evening it’s beautiful outside first of all I just got to say well it was beautiful it it was really it was nice looking outside when I left work you know a little earlier today well now I just feel like an idiot I thought I I thought I was going to look out I was G to see Blue Sky I mean it’s like it’s still pretty nice out but I guess we got a great show it’s not it might not be a a long show though uh no Seth this week unfortunately uh but we will have some some stuff to talk about uh briefly about his his Milwaukee Bucks uh because I just thought of it now I didn’t put it on the show sheet but I wanted to briefly mention it because uh I don’t know I feel like you know Seth’s not here to defend himself so what why would we not just mock his team I mean hey my team but the Pistons are infinitely mockable so it’s like might as well but we got a great show we’re going to talk about the finals obviously Boston up two nothing we’re going to talk about the Stanley Cup Florida up two nothing a bunch of two nothings gotta talk some baseball got to talk some tigers specifically one Terk scoble because I I I’ve been doing breakdowns recently a bad tiger play uh so I figured in the spirit of positivity we’ll talk a little bit of positive stuff uh for the Tigers as right now they are tied nothing nothing to the Nationals in the bottom of the second and GI orella got a base hit into right field look at him look at gioelle vote for him for third baseman in the All-Star Game I just saw some some pigeons on the field that reminds me of the the Verlander no hitter back in 07 I believe he had that he pitched that no hitter I think that was 07 I don’t know I know I know there were pigeons on the field in that game so maybe we’ll get another pigeon gate it looks like they’ve kind of left anyway anyway uh we’re also going to talk some apparently some Pistons free agency targets and I just did a brief look at them and we’ll break it down in a little bit I just did a brief look at them and I’m not actually that upset I thought I would be disgusted I thought I would be appalled but I’m not that upset so we’ll get into it but we got to start uh with the NBA Finals so first game uh Boston murdered them I mean it wasn’t it was not particularly close the final score uh 107 to 89 it was never close uh a really bad game for a lot of people on the Mavericks I mean they got a total of like let’s see two four seven uh oh wait no not seven uh 20 they got 20 total points Off the Bench um and that’s uh as many minutes as uh is that Josh green or Jaylen green it’s not Jaylen green is it is it yeah it’s Josh Green Josh Green they had as many points Off the Bench as Josh Green had minutes in that game which is 20 for those of you who don’t have the box SC in front of them but the story of game one initially uh was really uh Kyrie Kyrie not showing up again against his old team in Boston and seemingly Ratt I mean the guy shot 0 for from three six for 19 from the field uh just three rebounds couple of assists got a couple of steals uh he was a negative 19 player on the court and 12 points for Kyrie Luca naturally the hold you know got the team on his back at a double double 30 points 10 boards and one assist for Luca that game but that game was not particularly close uh Boston just murdered them I mean Jaylen Brown is a stud I know that there’s like been this kind of debate about you know is is Jaylen Brown the best player on the team is he better than Tatum who is seemingly the face of that team I I I personally from from a from an outsider standpoint not a Boston Celtics fan don’t watch a lot of Celtics basketball from an outsider standpoint Jaylen Brown is a better player like every time that there’s a big shot or anytime that you know you need a big moment it just seems like Jaylen Brown is the guy does it like any like whenever I watch Jason Tatum and it’s usually in the playoffs I don’t know it’s like I guess I just never see him really go off like really just like start murdering people you know like he he can make some fine plays on defense like in game two we’ll get into it he made some really nice rebounds had some really good plays on defense but a scoring threat eh I mean this game he was three for seven uh from three six for 16 from the field 16 points for him but a double double I mean 16 Points 11 rebound I’m never going to be mad at a player who gets a double double like I’m just never it’s not going to happen uh you know not easy to do for one and secondly you know that’s that’s really good right like double doubles are not you know you don’t come by them all the time but porzingis uh coming back from that injury and we’ll talk about it later because might might might be the last we see of por porzingis this finals uh but he has 20 points off the bench in 21 minutes he was fantastic they just dominated I mean top to bottom Boston just dominated them in game one it was not particularly close uh it was never really close maybe early on when they started the game it was close like z00 that was probably when it was close uh but outside of that you know it was it was just a blowout just no old oldfashioned get beat up in the in the street corner uh maybe in downtown Boston I don’t I don’t actually know what Boston is Boston an unsafe City I’ve never been to Boston I’ve never heard the only thing I know about Boston is that wallberg is there and they talk funny that’s and they they got a uh they got an obsession with uh bills they really like bills Bill Russell Bill bellich it’s about the only other I can’t think of any other bills uh Billy Buckner Bill Buckner huh any it’s uh yeah what is it with bills and boss anyway moving on uh to game two which I thought was the more interesting game so for one the game was interesting because it was a lot closer naturally so it was just a better game but secondly it this was like this was the Luca putting the team on his back and nobody helping him they got a total of two six nine points off their bench nine like the German word for no that’s how many points they got off the bat Off the Bench I mean Derek Lively played nine minutes and had two more points or he played 19 minutes please if he played nine minutes he’d be lucky to get two points if he he played 19 minutes and had two more points than me like and I like Derek like going into this going into the playoffs I I again I don’t watch Dallas Mavericks basketball but he was a lot of fun to watch I was expected a lot more from him but Kyrie Irving again steals the show he steals the show for not showing up again now granted slightly better he had 16 points this time unfortunately he was over again from three like the guy is in the series so far was that 0 for 0 for eight from three now granted it’s been on the road and I don’t know that they they don’t change the they don’t change the distance depending on where you go on the road but like you can’t do it you can’t go over if you’re like it’s Kyrie Irving like this is the guy who hit the big shot in 2016 like how are you gonna go over going up against your old team and just making a fool of yourself like that that is what like gets me is like this guy seemingly at every opportunity will find ways to embarrass he’s like Kevin Durant post Warriors he just finds ways to embarrass himself and and I’m I’m not opposed I’m I’m enjoying I’m enjoying every second of it who’s more EMB like I think somebody I heard I heard it somewhere I read it somewhere like the Brooklyn Nets with James Harden Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving that’s like the that’s like the threaded embarrassment Hydra you know like that Hydra has more than three heads but it that’s like the that’s like the you know it’s the Cerberus of of embarrassing people in the NBA just like and not embarrassing other people like them individually are embarrassing ments outside of you know their I mean I guess James Harden never won a title but outside of Kevin Durant’s title runs with golden state and then uh Kyrie but even Kevin Durant anyway I’m getting I’m I’m just I just like slandering Kyrie because it’s fun and enjoyable but the other thing about this game is that similarly I mean Jason Tatum again we talk about who’s the better player on the team Tatum or brown Tatum had a had a good game but you know it’s not like anything that’s blowing you out of the way I mean he was one he was a rebound away from a triple double so like he had a good game but Jaylen brown 21 points eh Jaylen Brown had pretty bunch of down game but Drew holiday decided you know what I want I want blood I want to murder people and he got 26 points 11 boards double double for him like when I look up and down the box scores and when I watch the games it’s not like I’m seeing any I mean I guess Luca is out there just killing people or just playing amazingly but the thing about it like with Boston it’s like well you’ll just get something from like top to bottom you’ll just get something like Al Horford had a terrible game okay Five Points seven rebounds to the guy had a Triple C not great okay but Drew holiday comes in and says you know what I’ll shoot 11 for 14 two for four from three like they just they just have better they just have a better roster and I want to say it was uh Bob Myers on ESPN in the post game and I think he said this was absolutely right about this the MVP of this series is the general manager like like it’s not like like not not any one of these guys are like top five players in the league right I mean maybe I’m wrong about that I don’t know I’m just sort of that’s this is a live reaction okay I wouldn’t say that anybody on the Celtics is top five in the league but they are all contribute like Derek white contributes on the defensive end he had a couple of blocks he had three steals uh obviously Jaylen Brown he also had three Steals and he had uh obviously I already said the seven assists four boards like Tatum was obviously out there he’s getting getting a steal he had 12 assists nine boards eight of them on defense he had an offensive rebound like you only had one miss free throw on the offensive side uh or from the starters for Boston that was uh Tatum who went five for six everybody else is making their free throws like you have contributors top to bottom even I mean they really didn’t even go to their bench all that much like Tatum and Brown played 42 or 45 and 42 minutes respectively meanwhile like 41 minutes of Kyrie you wouldn’t you wouldn’t have known that he played 41 minutes because the guy got 16 points and didn’t make a three-point he had as many three points as me like but if you were to ask someone who’s a bigger name in the NBA Kyrie Irving or Jaylen Brown nine nine out of 10 people probably gonna say Kyrie and then the 10th guy is Boston Celtics fan but like I I think we’re we’re seeing a shift and I’ve talked about this on the show before and I’ve talked about this in previous segments like we’re moving away from these like just get like a bunch of superstars and throw them on a team like I guess you could call hayum or brown I guess you could call them Superstars but like to me they’re not like you know steal the show like everything’s about them they’re it’s all about the team it’s all about the the like when when what’s his name Jason kid made that comment about Jaylen Brown being better like I think a much weaker team psychologically that that could have been some Factor But ultimately I don’t even I think it’s probably been a convers I’m pretty sure like Jaylen Brown and Jason D no I have no evidence of this this is just my own conjecture like I’m sure that they are aware of the fact that people have this debate about who’s the Batman and who’s the robin of this you know the starting five but realistically like they probably just don’t care because you’re winning and you shouldn’t care like if if you care that you know I don’t know Stephen A Smith or or skip bis or you know me say oh this guy is better than this guy on this team he’s the real Superstar he’s the real guy who makes the gears turn who cares like like you you play on a team because you want to win a championship like I just don’t think it matters to these guys and a as a Pistons fan I I I have a I have an inherent sense of disliking Boston I I can’t hate this team I really can’t like I mean Tatum for as you know people call him soft people call him you know weak and you know I I get it I mean the guy he wasn’t amazing but I mean six for 22 from the field goals Is Not Great uh but like you know you you make up for it in some way like he he impressed me on his defensive side he impressed me with his passes he impressed me in in in the fact that he’s not making it about him and he’s not costing his team the game despite the fact that he shot six for 22 and that that speaks that speaks volumes to the coaching I shout out Joe Missoula I know like last year yeah I think it was last year people were really going after Missoula but he’s gotten the best out of these guys um and I just I I don’t know that this is going to be a sweep but Dallas you can’t go out there and lose game three I mean obviously going down 3 0 in any series is uh usually not you know not the marker of success there’s not a lot of teams I don’t think any team has come back down three 0 so if you’re Dallas you got to keep your hopes alive first of all Kyrie can you just make one three like like just one I’m not you know that’s one more than me I I’ve never taken a three-point shot I’ve taken as many three-point I’m taking as many three-point shots as you have made three-point shots Kyrie so just go out there I don’t know what you got to tell yourself maybe you got to you know you got to look at a globe and get angry or something I don’t maybe you got to crush a globe I don’t know what you do I don’t know what you do to get ready for a game but I don’t know do maybe just look at clips of you from 2016 before I don’t know you became a bit fraudulent I don’t know do whatever it is you want to do but just make one just one three just one three I’m I mean when Exum Dante exom has more threes this series than you I didn’t even I don’t even know I don’t I didn’t know Dante Exum was playing I I I don’t know Dante ex he could he could walk in right now and I would be like why are you in my house I don’t know who you are and he’s got more threes than Kyrie not great not great looks like Jake Rogers just like threw out his arm or something or like he broke his hand or I don’t know what’s going on they’re looking at his hand oh no he’s okay he’s all right he’s going back out there okay yeah Jake Rogers he tried to throw somebody out and you just like completely whiffed on the ball oh no the foul ball just hit him right on the hand ow that hurts anyway Nationals have a man on first and second and one out top of the third so that’s less than ideal but okay so talked about the NBA Finals talk about the Stanley Cup finals so I didn’t get a chance to watch game one full full uh full uh transparency there but Panthers they shot out the Oilers 3 nothing uh they the Oilers I think they shot like 30 or 40 shots on goal compared to the Panthers who had like 10 or something like that so they were dominating on the shots on goal but nothing was going in uh B Browski was fantastic uh and obviously you know the defense uh you’re allowing like 30 plus shots that what maybe not your best maybe not your best showing but bski makes up for it and the off offense on the other side for the Panthers they make up for the lack of volume of shots with effective shots so they they win the game three nothing go up one nothing and then game two I did manage to watch at least the third period of this game I missed about the beginning uh but the Panthers they cruise by the Oilers again four unanswered goals B Browski once again in my mind bosski I mean the series not over but my mind barovsky is KM winner for if if assuming they win uh he he would be he would be the guy that I would expect to get the K Smite I mean in two games you’ve given up one goal like like you’ve outscored the Oilers seven to one in the first two games it looks it looks like the the Edmonson Oilers are completely outmatched in the Stanley Cup and frankly I’m not all that surprised I mean you you just go top to bottom and you know the the Oilers are just not as deep of a team team on a defensive front or you know on a on just a like a goal ending like they just they just AR as good I I don’t I I really don’t know how else to put it they’re just not as good of a team um you know it would be one thing if like McDavid and dry cidal you know obviously the two best players on their team it’d be one thing if those guys were lighting up the lamp and it was like the Panthers were winning games 3-2 4 to3 5 to four stuff like that it’s not happening I mean they’re not scoring on power play they’re not scoring on they haven’t scored a five on five goals since game five of the Western Conference Final I saw that stat today and I was uh I I chuckled I did I did chuckle a little bit I am rooting for the Panthers they never won a stanle cup so I always root for those kind of teams uh especially because I’ve been saying basically since the playoffs started this is a panther team that’s it’s team on a mission and they’re determined to bring the cup to to Florida even though it’s been to Florida with Tampa multiple times at this point it’s never been to Miami and I heard this earlier today so like it’s got to be kind of weird right because like Canada finally back in the cup again uh once again they’re also playing a team based in Florida and seemingly they they’re two games away from losing it again like how brutal is it for the the Canadian hockey fans hockey fans living in Canada who I don’t know exactly how it works if you just instinctively root for a Canadian team that’s not really how it works in America mostly because there’s more American teams than Canadian teams at this point and it’s usually not Canadian team versus American team uh but like it’s got to be weird that like a a state in Florida which you cannot have ice outside like you can’t make ice that doesn’t happen in in Florida certainly not in Miami and their hockey team is better than your hockey team is that not I’m not saying that like you know obviously doesn’t matter where you play you know the players aren’t from the region in which they’re playing but it’s got to hurt when like basically Miami which is where Florida plays I well not exactly in Miami but like I think they play uh I don’t know it’s like sunshine City or something something stupid I don’t I don’t I don’t know where they play but they play in a place where you know basically hockey is like the the the sixth or seventh most interesting thing you could do in that place it’s like oh you could go down the boardwalk go to the beach you go go play with dolphins or something I don’t know you could do anything but the last thing you would want to do is go into a very cold hockey arena and watch some hockey and yet and yet Lord Panthers are really darn good they’re really really darn good and look it’s not over yet and barov gets hurt in game two nasty hit by dry cidal I don’t know if he is going to come back and if this this could be the spark plug for Edmonton to get themselves back into it but I I will say this I just as good as barov is I just feel like they’re just the Panthers are just too good like you even if you lose barov I think they’re just still better and I don’t I don’t have necessarily any like hard facts and hard evidence to this I I don’t have the stats in front of me I just I just like Florida more I do like every time I watch them and when I watch them play the wings this year it’s like they just strangle you they just kill you slowly and painfully they’re not blowing you away with you know seven nothing wins or anything like that they’re just strangling you and babski if he’s not one of he he is not if he is not the best he is one of the best goenda the guy just shows up so good luck to the Panthers next couple of games on the road they could finish it out in a sweep I’m sure that would feel good they’ve already won a franchise uh record in game Stanley Cup games one which two so they they’ve never done this they’ve never won more than one one game in the Cup finals good job super all right also I didn’t mention this in the NBA section christop porzingis questionable for game three I don’t know how much of an impact that’s going to be on the game in game two he was much less uh impactful than he was in game one but I don’t I mean like because it was one game where he was really impactful and another game where he wasn’t I mean Boston won both games obviously but I don’t know if you know game one is more indicative of what you’re going to get with porzingis or if game two is more indicative what you’re going to get now game two he’s playing hurt so you know you never know with that this a great great great rate of transition into more NBA stuff because we got to talk about the Piston I’m wearing my K Cunningham shirt in honor of this so we got to talk about the Pistons uh so this notification came across my my my cellular telephone the other day NBA rumors Pistons to heavily pursue Nick Claxton Malik monk Gary Harris and free agency so let’s go through these one at a time so Nick Claxton is a center uh played this past year for Brooklyn he’s played his whole career with Brooklyn looking at his stats and as someone who never watched any Brooklyn games I like him I mean like I be I’d be okay with this like look we’ve already amassed a lot of bad centers and I don’t know if Nick Claxton is really all that much of an improvement uh from any one of them I mean what what do we got we got Jaylen Duren we got Isaiah Stewart and we got James wisman well James wisman can be thrown to the garbage so this guy he he already averages more points than James wisman a game this past season he had 11 points uh I want to say that just a little short of a of a career high for him just a couple of years ago he was Defensive Player of the Year he got some Defensive Player of the Year votes he got most improved player of the Year votes I mean like at this point he’s probably you know entering his 25y old season he’s still pretty young uh you might be able to get some of those prime years I mean I it really depends on how well this this franchise can even develop anybody uh which we have seen Is Not Great uh in the playoffs he he’s got playoff experience again you’d be getting You’ be getting a guy who is not like just a nobody I’d say uh I think he’s a solid solid Center certainly would be better than James wisman so if they if they pick this guy up and he’s the James wisman replacement and your Center room is Jaylen Duran Nick Claxton and Isaiah Stewart I mean that’s not exactly a scary Center room uh but hey you know what it’s it shows at least that they want to improve the team and that they’re not just going to run out team tce they’re not just going to accept that you have a garbage Center on your team uh the other name there of course was Malik Monk and this to me if they can somehow convince Malik monk to come and play for their team I would be ecstatic this would be the best pickup that they could get first of all he was second this past year in six Man of the Year votes he also got comeback Player of the Year votes uh he was 12th in that and or clutch Player of the Year not comeback player of the year I don’t know why I said comeback player of the year when I realize he never left any other year but he shoots uh at an effective field goal percentage a 52 52% or 53% uh he’s about a 12 or I’m sorry a 15 points a game kind of guy five assists game I mean he shoots 35% from three which is you know pretty good I mean this team needs Shooters uh 35% is not you know running away with the three-point specialist uh title but it’s probably better than most of the players on this team I mean like the thing is like as a Pistons fan you and and as a basketball like a player president of basketball operations Tran langon canot exactly be uh picky with who it who he is he wants to bring in and you know Malik monk you know obviously he’s just a role player he’s six man he’s not he’s not necessarily going to be your starter and he’s already I believe 20 he’s 25 years old so you’d probably get some some of those prime years as he enters into his late 20s uh he’s got playoff experience this past season uh or these past two seasons because he played in obviously playin last year uh which I guess they don’t count on basketball reference as playoffs but got playoff experience in the playoffs he averaged 19 points a game uh five rebounds three assists that’s that’s pretty good for a guy coming off the bench to to get those kind of numbers and again like he he’s he would be a he’d be a great fit he would add to to the shooters which is to say uh be a a shooter on the team because we don’t currently have one don’t give me K Cunningham I I I know I’m wearing the Kade shirt Kade is not proven that he is a reliable shooter by any stretch of the imagination so I would love malague monk now the name that I am a little nervous about is one Gary Harris so Gary Harris uh for one I believe he’s the oldest player yeah he’s the oldest player so nicest thing I could say about him is that he’s got a lot of experience uh but he’s clearly uh not a good player at least not anymore uh his past year with Orlando he was a starter in just 27 games out of 54 total games played so he didn’t even play most of the Season or he didn’t play the whole season I should say uh he shoots a little higher from three 37% so that’s that’s okay uh and again effective field goal percentage of 56% uh but just six points game uh just a rebound a game like a an assist game like he he doesn’t give you the counting stats which I know is not the whole thing and I know there’s probably more advanced numbers but if you’re going to get Gary Harris uh that better not be your big move I guess like I understand you have the worst record in the league no nobody’s going to want to come play for you you’re in the midst of rebuilding a rebuild so to speak uh but no I would not want Gary Harris I’d be okay if they moved on from him I know or moved on if they did not choose to sign him if the Pistons offseason as far as free agency goes because I can’t imagine they’re going to sign an extensive amount of players uh because it’s GNA be hard to convince a lot of players to come here but if they get Malik Monk and they get Nick claxon I would consider that a successful free agency now obviously they could still make moves with trades or you know signing their own guy like if they extend Kade or something if they fire Monty Williams you know if they do other things and then they sign Nick Claxton they sign Malik monk they extend Kate they show that they have an interest in putting a product on the court on the hardwood that is actually worthwhile then maybe I’ll give them a little bit of respect but the fact that there are rumors with good players in Nick Claxton and Malik m not great players not elite players but good players players that can be successful here in a team that is you know dying for someone to come play a role like I I it at least gives me some hope in that okay well trason langden is interested in players that are not nobody’s you know he’s not interested in the in the Marvin baggley of the world or the James wisman of the world or even of the Isaiah Stewarts of the world you know the fact that he’s even going after Claxton to me tells me that probably James wisman days are numbered uh which is good because if you can’t identify the fact that James wisman is one of the singular worst basketball players maybe in the NBA uh right now or just in NBA history then I I I don’t know what to say I don’t you I mean obviously already fired Troy Weaver the guy who who opted to bring in James weisen let me let let me let me remind you what how we even got James wisen we had sadique Bay now I’m just gonna pull up sadik Bay really quick so sadique Bay he’s not you know a superstar he’s not even a great player I me he was an all rookie by the way but you know 13 points six six boards an assisted game he’s not blown you away we traded sadique Bay straight up basically this how the exchange goes for James Weisman I will never ever let that go I don’t care if sadique Bay ends up as like the journeyman of journeyman he is light years more watchable of as a player than James wisman and look to get back on topic Nick Claxton light years better than James wi probably hopefully he couldn’t be worse right I mean it’s pretty hard to be worse like I guess in my mind like the fact that they they are going after things that I I I see as like okay there’s actually and again nothing has happened free agency obviously hasn’t opened uh the final Str going on and trades haven’t trades aren’t open either like it at least shows me that tran Langton and Company seemingly they might be interested in the things that are clearly problems for this team that Troy Weaver just completely neglected and focused on just hiring Monty Williams essentially and hoping he would fix all of his problems now none of these moves would give me ultimate hope that tran Langdon has a plan they give me medium to small levels of Hope if he I don’t know if he trades Jaylen Durant if he trades Ivy or Kate cunning and he gets like a hall it’s like okay I can identify what the plan or if he ends K like if he does something to where I can be okay here’s the plan you’re extending Kate Cunningham okay you’re going to have to build around your your your moves outside of that are going to be to greet to bring in players that would make Kate Cunningham his best and make those players that you’re bringing in As Good around him as possible right so this news was a bit hopeful and I don’t want to have too much hope with the Pistons uh because all they have done is hurt me for 15 years they’ve hurt Pistons fans uh across the street I was going to say across the world but it’s really not there’s not that many of us certainly not anymore if you went like I don’t know let’s say I was goingon to say 15 years ago if you went like 20 years ago there was a lot of Pistons fans I mean obviously they win a championship but there was a lot of Pistons fan in the state of Michigan they were the Talk of the Town obviously you win a championship it was between it was basically between the the Pistons and the Red Wings of which which team was bigger in theity Detroit probably the Red Wings overall but it wasn’t like it was like an easy battle right like Pistons were at least as popular as the Red Wings back in the day and especially you know obviously they have a lot of history I don’t want to get too I don’t want to go on a ramble too much but overall I’m happy about this and hopefully it’s a sign of goodness hopefully it’s a sign that we actually have a competent president of basketball Ops in in the administration and he can try to make something of a competitive basketball team I I don’t know what they’re going to do with this draft pick if they’re going to trade it if they’re going to keep it and just take whoever’s the best player available I don’t know that will also reveal something to me uh especially given the fact that this is a pretty weak draft class so it might be worth it to trade I don’t know uh but at least this rumor gives me something to to in something to give I don’t know it’s the Pistons man there’s not a whole lot of Hope around here you know something so while we were doing that segment I think I was either that segment or the St cup segment I watched kentay walk with the give give up walk with the bases loaded Kaya uh he seems to always do this thing where like he’ll just pitch terribly and he’ll just look so upset and it’s like yeah you kind of suck Kenta like I don’t know why we signed this guy for two years meanwhile Jack flarity who is like one of the best pitchers in the American League we signed him to one so we’re gonna have to train him so that that was a great move by Scott Harris uh but I don’t know I don’t want to beat up on it Jack Jack furry was a great signing uh tentay and not so much and you’re gonna you’re going to swing and Miss on pitching signings especially I I just don’t get why we signed him for two years and speaking of Major League Baseball so we’re going to start this segment very briefly uh because I want to get into TK sco and have a little bit of fun a little bit of positivity uh as the tigers are losing one- nothing currently uh so the Tigers they win a three- game set against the Rangers and I was I was surprised I I I did not see that coming they then go on to lose a three game set against the Brewers and it was a series that frankly they really should have won uh game one they get blown out okay not gonna not gonna nothing you could do that game two on the other hand I mean you’re up 4-1 relatively late in that game and you just give it up with errors and bad play and no can accept that and then you go out on Sunday and blow them out 102 and I guess that’s what’s so frustrating sometimes about this team is it’s like you will give up these kinds of games and how many games at this point have we seen where they’re leading or they you know it’s a close game and they just give it up in the end like how how how often do we see this seems like it’s every other game or every other series will they have a game like that they had it against Boston they had it against New York back in in early early may they had it against Cleveland in early may they just they just do this they find these ways to to just blow games and bad bad ways and look they’re still within the wild card that’s what’s so weird about it is that in the standings let me pull those up like they are still right there in it and a lot of teams are in it to be fair but they’re just two and a half games back and one of the and two of those wild card teams are in the division so you know it’s not like it’s not like we’re dealing with like the most insurmountable climb and it’s not like the team is dead they’re not and it it gives at least a a reason to keep up with it and to to focus on them and say hey you know what if if they can just get a string of a couple of weeks of good consistent hitting and offense scoring they might be something because their pitching is really gosh darn good and I just looking ahead at the schedule I mean right now they got the Nationals who are kind of a middling team very similar team to the Tigers then they go on the road to the Astros a team that’s really just falling apart and probably there going to be sellers of the deadline I don’t know if it’s just the end of an era for the Houston Astros and they just they don’t have it anymore but really bad Astros team uh then you got the Braves at home or on the road I should say that that’s a that’s probably a loss uh that’s not going to go well but you got the white socks at home the following weekend so it’s like there are there’s games here like when you just look at it or there’s series here the only two Series where I’m pretty much writing off is like if you can just get one win in those I’ll be satisfied it’s the Phillies and the and the Braves and back-to-back weeks uh although the Phillies is going to be at home so you might have something of an advantage there um I wouldn’t really count it for much but hey you got something and then the angels in a Four game seven that’s a bad Angels team as well I’m not saying that this team is you know the Bronx the Bronx bombers they’re they’re definitely not and I don’t even I mean frankly I’ve been probably harsh harshest on this team as anyone and yet I can’t say that they’re totally there’s not a path right like and I I want to say this isn’t the first time that I’ve even made this point like there is path whether or not they can take that path and whether or not they can successfully you know get through it that’s to be seen now okay so last week we did a very sad segment we talked about Spencer Tolson because he got sent down he was absolutely awful complete bust guys thinks of baseball we want to talk about somebody who does not think of baseball okay we’re going to talk about Terk scoel who may be the best pi in baseball right now and I say that with only a little bit of fan boy in me okay let me just run it down statistically for you so we did this last week with torque uh and it was sad this way we’re going to do with scoo and it’s going to be happy so first of all from a win loss perspective ter sco has the highest win percentage in baseball 889 8-1 record for scoob I’m not going to say that wins and losses are pitching stat but basically when he takes the M team usually wins I mean they’ve lost one game when he when he takes them out I believe it was against the Royals on the road it was just a bad game for him and you got to wonder if he would have pitched better in that game how much lower his or how much better his stats would be than they already are in 79 and two3 innings pitched he’s given up five home runs just 15 walks he’s got a 219 FIP fif that’s Fielding independent pitch he’s got a 213 ER Plus 100 is average by the way he is at like twice above average he he is a full average above average that is how good he has been in the ER Department his ER in in actual numbers is 192 when you have a sub two erra in the month of June you’re doing something special like he he’s got numbers that are better or at very at the very least comparable to MVP Kershaw and MVP Verlander like to I I don’t know if he’s going to win the MVP I don’t know if he’s gonna get votes to the MVP frankly if he doesn’t get votes it might be one of the most disrespectful things I mean granted a lot of game left to play but he’s been absolutely unreal 0891 whip that is also the lowest in the major leagues uh he’s got a six 640 strikeouts to walks ratio a 10.8 strikeouts per nine a 1.7 walks per nine and a half a home run per nine I like you can’t make that up like you you can’t make that is like video game numbers okay taking a look at some of the fan graphs numbers here uh on fan graphs he’s got a 2.7 War I want to say baseball reference uh let’s see where do they have him in terms of War uh I guess they don’t have oh no they do they got they got him at three and a half war on Fang graph so he’s somewhere he’s probably around a three War player right three wins above replacement player absolutely unreal stuff uh as far as other things batting at here’s a stat that I thought was really kind of interesting so batting average on balls in play is 267 so basically when a ball gets hit in play players are hitting slightly above League average that’s only when it’s hit in play because that doesn’t happen a whole lot because he’s got 10 strikeouts per nine innings okay like that’s unbelievable unbelievable stuff like he he has he has done everything possible to be just he he he is he he’s got he’s come out of nowhere like he was one of the he was a later round pick he he was not like I I think people would have expected these sorts of numbers from Casey M who was first overall and Casey M meanwhile is stinking it up uh he he’s looking like he’s going to be a bust meanwhile ter scoo looks like he might be the best pitcher tigers have had since Verlander probably even potentially better than Verlander now the question about whether or not you decide you want to trade or sign him that’s that’s a whole other discussion I’ve talked about that earlier I wouldn’t I I think you got to do one or the other I think you gotta you got to extend him long term or you got to trade them that you got and I don’t think that’s a particularly controversial opinion of mine but that is the is what it is now his baseball saamp page is basically the anti- Spencer Tolson page in that there is nothing but red except for his extension I don’t really know what this stat mean so I’m not going to reference it apparently he’s in the 36% tyent extension I I’m assuming that has something to with how he throws the pitch I don’t I don’t know but in his expected ER he’s in the 94th percentile expected batting average 88th percentile fastball V vo 90th percentile average exit velocity 83 percentile Chase percentage 77th percentile whff percentage 88 percentile K percentage 90 percentile walk percentage 87 percentile bail percentage 64% out hard hit percentage 87% out I mean like he does not have he’s not there is not a stat where he is not at least in the 64th percentile and like that is Frank yes that is MVP kind of stuff like if you look at on the baseball Savant Pages for the Juan soos for the Aaron judges they have very similar percentiles in obviously one’s a hitter and the others one’s a pitcher the other are hitters but Terk scoel is basically one of the reasons that the tigers are even in a wild card spot because every time he pitches it’s basically a guaranteed win and like he is not he’s not just beating up on bad teams he’s doing this to everybody he he did it to the Brewers the Brewers who are a playoff team like the brewers brewers are leading their division Brewers are 12 games above 500 like this is we’re not talking about him doing this against the Marlins or the Rockies for the the the Chicago White sock like he’s doing it to everybody and look again I’m a tiger fan I’m not trying to hide the bias here like I do think when all is said and done like he should at least get some MVP votes I I have no doubt that he’s going to be in the All-Star Game short of him you know getting hurt and being unable to play I got no doubt this guy is going to be at least one of if not the only All-Star rep for the Tigers you know something I was thinking about I don’t even remember the last time the Tigers had a legitimate uh Allstar rep that was a uh hitter like not like a uh you know not like Miguel Cabrera a couple of years ago when they did the little like final All-Star game for migy and Albert phol which is kind of weird because migy still had one more year to go and Albert P was in his final year but anyway uh like I actually can’t think who the last one was like maybe Nick castios maybe JD Martinez I don’t know I don’t know but look the fact is if if you are a baseball fan and somehow you’ve managed to avoid Terk scoble just look at his baseball Savant page just look at some of the highlights he’s posted this year just go you know what you can do you can find the games he started in and just go on the Detroit Tigers uh official social media page on YouTube and you can find the highlights of the games that he’s pitched and just watch the highlights you are going to be stunned if you somehow because I know Tiger baseball is not exactly a you know highly popular brand in baseball generally but I’m just saying especially as the trade deadline becomes closer and closer teams are going to be calling byk scoel and th this is going to change the one way or the other the trajectory of the Tigers is going to be determined whether or not they decide to extend Terk scoel or to trade him away for probably what could be one of the bigger Halls at the trade deadline because yes this guy is MVP good he’s already sa young good like I think that goes without saying this guy is right now the front runner for siong potentially front runner for the ER title like like but man oh man like if if they if they do trade him away I’m just saying I’m not saying that it’s necessarily the best move or that it’s the only option if they do trade TK scoble I would expect you know upwards of four players in return that including prospects and potentially ready to go players that’s how good this guy is but I don’t know team team isn’t all that good so oh well all right that’s it hey I said I said it would be a little bit of a shorter show so I wouldn’t lie why would I lie to you come on do I look like a liar don’t answer that um so that is going to be it for tonight’s show uh the tigers are losing three nothing now to the Nationals and uh I will never forgive Kent m now granted he wasn’t even pitching for but I’ll still never forgive him I we could have sign JD Martinez with that money could have we chose not to I’m G let it go so next week we will break down more sporting news of the week we may or may not have an NBA or n NHL Stanley Cup champion to Crown next week so that that could be a lot of fun definitely keeping an eye on those series no games for that tonight watching baseball anyway so throw that on and uh yeah should be should be a good week in sports and the NBA draft getting closer and closer every day and of course the trade deadline for
