The consensus around the Knicks is we have to get deeper. Bojan and Burks are old. OG (if we re-sign him) and Mitch Rob have not been consistently healthy the last couple of years. But, there's no way we have the minutes to play 2 rookies right?
So, why don't we trade up? It's a bad draft, and there aren't any projected stars. I'm sure some teams would value 2 solid role players over 1 above-average one. Rebuilding teams could play both and hope one of them is a star.
The article I just read does a great job of expanding on this and maybe some trade packages. It doesn't give any involving future picks though. Thoughts?

It’s hard to trade up from 24 and 25 and if we are able to how many spots can we move up realistically? Only team I could see potentially trading back with us is LA who sits at 17 but it would have to be some one we are targeting
Trading up in a bad draft seems like a waste of an asset. 24 and 25 aren’t going to fetch much. Obviously it is a trade off. You could run into an all star at 18. But the likelihood that 18 is going to be better than two lottery tickets at 24/25 is negligible. So I’am not against the idea, I just think it’s a case of making a move for the sake of making a move.
bojan is gone
Are picks 24 and 25 enough to get into the lottery? Idk who the Knicks would be targeting in the lottery range. FWIW I believe the Knicks can find talent in their current draft range or even trade back into the early second round to get guys on cheaper deals. Guys like Baylor Sheirman and Ryan Dunn should be available. Scheirman is an elite proven shooter at the college level. over the last four years years he’s been knocking down the 3 at over 40% on over 6 attempts per game while also contributing to his teams as a rebounder and playmaker. Dunn is an Elite, athletic defender on the college level and only a freshman if I’m not mistaken.
If depth is what you’re looking for, why would you trade two late firsts for one earlier first?
Besides, the Knicks have generally done a really good job finding rotation players with late firsts.
I think, if they make a trade, it will be for a more established player, to give them depth and/or replace one of the guys that might not be back. Maybe they bundle Mitch with one of those picks?
Also: the guy who wrote that article is saying Zach Edey is a late-lottery talent… not sure where he’s getting that from; most of the mocks I’ve seen have him in the low 20s.
The idea we wouldn’t re-sign OG is absolutely comical. Does anyone believe we would trade RJ and IQ for a 6-month rental? Leon Rose and Co had been after OG for some time. The kicker being Sam Rose (Leon’s Son) is OG’s agent.
” trading up” is really hard.. It’s not as easy as just saying it. Team spend a year figuring out who they want, who they will be in a position to take, what their needs are, so on and so forth. It’s very unlikely some team in the low teens is going to want the 25th and 26th pick.
I think there’s a strong possibility for out of the top five college centers will be within striking range for us if we don’t trade up
Knicks should trade out of the first round
I don’t think any of those trade packages are realistic. I strongly doubt 24 & 25 get you into the lottery. And if we’re not getting into the lottery, we might as well take a shot at whoever is there in the 20s
i genuinely have no idea what we do with this draft. i think using both to get cost controlled assets and depth could be great, i also think trading 1 or both for future assets could be great (since we have our 2nd). trading up could also be cool based on if we like someone earlier in the draft, but we have zero indication of who we like or what the fo is leaning toward. should be such a fun 2 weeks
