The revisionist history surrounding the Jrue Holiday trade is astonishing right now

A lot of people in the media and elsewhere are now positing the idea that it was a terrible trade and a criminal act of negligence by Cronin to give away Jrue for what we received for him. As if timelord had already gotten injured again and we just gifted him away for free.

If you actually look at what was being said at the time, it was nearly unanimous that it was a good trade for us, (both teams really). Examples: 1 2 3 4

Looking back, it’s not as good as it seemed at the time, hinging on how the draft picks turn out, but I can’t believe people really thought we gave him away for free.

  1. It’s a fine return but not trading brogdon is straight up negligent

People who are saying this are idiots, just ignore and move on

  3. Welcome to media, people forget what they said months ago and usually contradict themselves.

  4. The trade was good, the contract extension they gave him will hurt them in the long run

It was a good deal then, it’s a good deal now. Brogdon still has value and Williams is loaded with potential.

Whenever I hear either of the trades brought up, they just ignore the fact that we got a bunch of draft picks, which is all we wanted.  Brogdon and Williams are still going to be traded for more picks, it’s was fine.

  7. It’s stupid lol.

33 year old who just had back to back playoff runs were he shot below 50 TS% and we ended up getting

    -14th pick

    -2029 unprotected 1st

    -The reigning 6moy

-Rob who was 1 year removed from All Def 2nd team

What were we supposed to get? A damn Dejounte Murray level package lol? The Rudy Gobert deal? Like damn I thought the Jrue trade was probably Cronin best trade and lowkey more than what we got for Dame/CJ. Its just we didn’t flip Brog and Rob got hurt immediately so it looks a lot worse.

Jrue had no interest in playing here, and who can blame him. Look at what happened to Brogdon. Jrue wanted to play for championships.

  9. I loved this trade for Portland then and I still love it now. Can’t predict the Williams and Brogdon injuries but even including them I still think it’s fine.

The trade was nearly universally lauded at the time, and getting a lotto pick from the Warriors out of the deal takes some sting out of the injury issues RWIII and Brogdon had.
