Offseason expectations and hopes

I was hoping Boston would win last night so the off-season could start in earnest. But doing it at home will be more fun, I guess. I'm sick of the only news about the Pels losing key members of our front office and coaching staff

So what are your desires/expectations for this off-season and let's just start it all in our heads.

Existing roster: JV and Naji are free agents and it seems like most everyone agrees they are both gone for cap/fit issues.

This will still leave the Pels with a deep rotation, with a glaring hole at Center and regular hole at PG. Any argument to lose cap flexibility by keeping either? Ideally they get some seconds in sign and trades as lots of playoff teams would love JV and Naji

Draft: The draft is in 11 days! Pels have pick #21. Though considered a very weak draft, it's actually got 7+ legitimate center prospects.

Pels do have enough picks to trade up. You want to stand pat at 21? Trade up to get someone specific who can step in and be an impact player now? Or sell the 1st for seconds like a simp?

Trades: Again, it seems like consensus for most is that BI is getting traded. I know there are some that think CJ should/will be but I think with his contract becoming cheaper, his shooting, his veteran status, he's likely to stay.

Second tier pieces that could be moved: Dyson, Jose, Nance, and (hopefully not) Hawkins could each reasonably be necessary to get certain trades done.

impact PGs potentially available: Dejounte Murray, Trae Young, Garland, Marcus Smart, Tyus/Tre Jones, Brogdon, DeAngelo Russell

Impact centers potentially available: Jarrett Allen, Claxton, KAT, Okongwu/Capela, Brooks Lopez, Hartenstein, WCJ unlikelies Mobley, Markenan

What are your minimum requirements and hopes for a good offseason?

This link has a good overview of all the people that may likely get traded: https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/nba-trade-candidates-75-players-split-up-among-12-categories-who-could-be-moved-this-summer/

  1. DG has come out and said we’re going to acquire talent this offseason. Let’s see what they try and make happen.

Trae Young – I think that’s the star you can pair with Zion.

Say what you want about him, but if Zion went down young will have no problem scoring 25+ per game.

Murray is older and has a more financially reasonable contract, but that’s not a star imo.

If the Pels could get DMurray and Okongwu in a deal around BI and a couple firsts, secondary assets that would be an A+ off-season for me. Before they landed the #1 pick it was near impossible they move OO, but now it could happen. Don’t want Capella

If the Pels trade BI and don’t get another all star level player back I’ll be upset

If they keep the pick and use it on anyone but a center like Ware, Holmes, Eddy, or Missi that will suck.

I listened to Jake Madisons recent pod that was his version of a “dream off-season” and I think I echo it to a point:
Trae Young is the guy to pair with Zion. BI/Jose and MAYBE a FRP could be enough for that. Then you add a center prospect of the future at 21 (my favorites are Ware/Edey/Holmes… Probably reverse order of what I listed), and grab a stopgap center in FA.

If for some reason that doesn’t get done, my personal fav is Garland/Allen for BI/Dyson/Nance and up to 2 FRPs. Hopefully Naji’s price isn’t too crazy and you can bring him back (I still doubt it). Keep #21 this year and go BPA at that point.

Hopefully there’s just a lot of movement in general this summer.
