Thank you for pulling per-36 data. That’s always good context.

Clingan’s assist to turnover ratio deserves more attention. I understand people who aren’t sure of him as an offensive hub, but he clearly knows how to avoid negatives, and that’s extremely valuable even just as an outlet.

Clingan existed in a world where a post game was possible. And he wasn’t good for UCONN’s offense in uptempo matchups. How does that translate to the nba game?
He’s a reactive piece that can be used in certain matchups as a way to defend against teams with bigs who feast in half-court offenses. But he’s not going to be the guy who offensively benefits against those bigs. I don’t trust him to win out against valanciunas, let alone embiid. And his ceiling is so low.
I’m not saying sarr is the guy, really. But taking clingan #1 would be a Chris kaman move.

Can we see a comparison of these players vs what the replacement level of their archetype is in the NBA? Sure that would be substantially more illuminating than comparing raw numbers of a guy 1 year older going against maybe 10-15 kids who’ll have play in a professional league. Honestly when taken into that context, the more impressive side of this ledger is clearly Sarr imo.

Media in full swing trying their best to divert the Hawks from selecting Sarr…
Sarr is not an unknown quantity. The doubting chatter around him is only because it’s the Hawks that got the #1 pick.

Sarr was playing in a PRO league, against grown men, not against 1/3 of a calendar in which the tallest guys Clingan faced probably were 6’9” and half of them did not even shave yet.

People are not understanding the concept of floor vs. ceiling. 1) They are in 2 completely different leagues. 2) Clingan might be better right now but Sarr has the chance to last longer in the league + higher potential of being good. You take your pick

If Sarr was playing in the NCAA than fine compare the two players but no, he’s actually been playing in a pro league.
