house here tonight bringing to you some uh some upcoming Magic updates we got some draft predictions coming up with the draft coming up just in a few weeks Boston is Up 3 currently over the Maverick so that’s pretty much a Dead series at this point so it’s time uh to start looking ahead into the future and seeing what the Orlando Magic potentially might have coming up at pick 18 um at that one so before we even get into the players I want to start talking about some of the needs for this Orlando Magic team because I feel like a big part of that is going to be the guard play whether it’s the point guard and the ball handle or the three-point shooting that we might want to add to this team I feel like those are two of the biggest needs um that this team does have but um Juan I’ll start with you with this one man um kicking it off what this team needs um and then we do already have someone in the comments Daniel brry Sports highlight saying yo what’s going on Daniel Barry appreciate you joining us man but Juan what are some of the needs that you see that this magic team really should look to feel during this draft Yeah you know you kind of mentioned it a little bit but uh definitely that start starting guard help you know with the uncertainty of Marquel folz and then you drafted Anthony black last year in the lottery and you’re still kind of up in the air with that so definitely try to solid solidify some uh some more starting guard help uh a third Center you know you got Mo Wagner who’s pretty sure dude to get paid and then you got wend Carter we still don’t know what’s going on with that so a third Center would be nice and some more shooting I mean the NBA you can’t have enough shooting and the magic definitely struggled down the stretch trying to knock down some threes saw it in the playoffs so I think if they if they try to you know get a player where they can address all three of those needs somehow I I think they’ll be in good shape yeah for sure and I think obviously um when it comes to to figuring out both the the big and point guard aspect because like you said those are are really a couple of the needs we don’t we don’t know Wendel Carter a great player is he the long-term solution at center right probably not right we probably still have to to figure out a better solution um in the front court next to France and and next to Paulo but Luca what are some of the you know key needs that you feel this team adding on to what W has said with you know the big three-point shooting and even though it’s Anthony black being taken last year I do agree shuring up that point card position and what’s going on there what are some of the things you may be feel this Orlando Magic team needs to be honest I feel like they really just do a lot of the things well I really do feel like that Juan did honestly hit it all in the head I did they really just need a guard so when you can shoot the ball and obviously a big would be nice um I mean I think the only thing I guess could be like a little bit better is like just getting another defender on the team you can never have too many Defenders on an NBA roster especially in this day and age it’s a forgotten R I say it all the time I’m say it again dude seriously defense is one of those things that people really do forget like they just they’re just people are just so focused with doing what they can do with the ball and people just don’t understand that without the ball you can be just as important um you know so I really do feel like um that that some that that like Juan said U point guard Center shooting you have too much of that but other than that I mean I I don’t think another Defender would uh would would really hurt you know like I said you can just have too much defense can never have too much shooting and I think I think there’s a couple players that um that that can honestly feel that need you know that we’re going to talk about them I’m pretty sure absolutely absolutely you know you talk about maybe pairing up a a nice guard next to jayen Suggs right someone that can complement him very well or someone that can compliment fron and Paulo in the front Court like you said it doesn’t necessarily need to be an A1 tier player that comes in and makes an impact on this team so Josh let’s talk about the impact there a little bit before we even get into to Too Much specifics how much impact do you see a player making on this team because it is a young team it’s it is a team where someone could come in and really make a big impact with a couple of the gaps that we have so obviously you’re going to have some rookie walls coming in and hit some of those things but how much impact do you feel that a rookie could make on this team you know given that we draft something within our realm of need right um I think uh you can find a player that can complement the style of the magic um um you know like you said you do have a young core they they continue developing their own right but I think uh both tawan and Lucas standpoint you know uh outside shooting and size um I think you know you draft right draft a good player that complement the style Apollo bronze um you know you’ll see you’ll see success with that so I think um you know with within that mind frame um you know you you can this draft is is decent um and you know with the magic having I believe the 18th pick and later down the 47th pick I think you know they can they can find some guys that can uh complement the style of you know what the magic are currently playing and you know where they want to get get to absolutely now Luca last one before we actually get into names on this one what are the odds this the uh Orlando Magic team flips the pick that we have in this first round with someone for for a need right maybe you get a sign and trade deal where you you give up a pick or a second rounder and you can still by a ho with a player that’s been in the year a four or five league for four or five years maybe coming of a deal that a team doesn’t want anymore right let’s say OKC has a lot of young players that are looking um they have to resign a lot of them not all of them they can keep right so maybe there player you can get there or um from Houston you pick up one of the young guys whatever it may you can maybe coach a guy and trade one of those picks and get someone that can really just fill in in that so Luka what do you think are the odds to this Orlando Magic team um potentially moves off this first round pick and get someone that’s a little more ready for for playoff action I think it’s definitely possible uh I think it is um especially for the way they finish in this season they finished with a fourth seed went to game seven with the Cavs you know they arguably should have won you know you know aside from some perform some amazing players on that team but I really think that it is possible do I see it happening honestly no I think they do end up taking the draft pick and just you know trying to I think that the because they’re so young I think adding inserting another young player is just going to do them so much good we we’ve seen it with the Thunder how they’re all that young core all that young team they’re just Building Together growing together we’ve seen it in the postgame interviews them being dogs and stuff we saw you know it’s just it’s just really fun to watch these youthful teams you know with all these guys that are just really want to play in the NBA they’re really just happy to be there and it’s just like you know it’s just like playing pickup basketball with your boys you know I think that do end up taking the pick and just keep just pushing this young exciting you know this very fresh look in Orlando and I think that that’s what’s going to be better for for this team and just continue to help this Market grow you know to continue to help this fan base just get even bigger and bigger and just have more support for this team so I think they do take the pick but I wouldn’t definitely cancel out um them trading uh them trading for an established star uh especially because they definitely are one of those teams in the East that could potentially win could potentially win now so I think I think it’s very uh very possible either one yeah you know just a couple pieces Away really you know when you look at this team it’s a couple of key pieces away you know whether it’s a sign in trade for a for a Paul George and you get you know the birds rights deal under it with two and and maybe you give up a pick to get that birds right deal or or you know you get Klay Thompson on a decently Team friendly deal you don’t want to overpay for someone like that either but you give the Warriors a pick to get that birge right so the contract fits nicely uh under the salary cap as well right there’s a lot of options with uh with players that maybe are going to be moving off of their former teams that spent enough years there to where you can get some salary one uh before we get into names any uh what are the percentages in your books that you see this magic team uh potentially just making a trade with this pick and and getting a win now player yeah you know the magic I feel like are are one of the the few teams are are in this kind of situation where it’s like you know they could take a nice talented established player in Prospect in this draft and and try to develop them and continue to do that or they can they can trade it and try to get something to help them you know win now kind of like Lucas said but you know I I don’t know I think it’s a little 5050 on it because it really depends on who Falls to them you know what if you know on their board they have a player that’s very high he starts falling down or they can draft that player and end up trading him after the selection like we’ve seen so many times so it’s definitely very interesting if it was me I I’m more of a best player available type of guy if if one of those top 10 12 players that are on my board Falls to to you know the the 18th pick then I I think I would stick around and try to see but um yeah you know there’s a lot of good players here and it all comes down to to drafting well you know you can pick a player you know we’ve seen it so many times with prospects from all over the world it’s just about getting the right guy that fits your team and that you can coach up and develop so you know if the magic sit there and stay put and draft whoever it is I just hope you know they get the most out of it and fits well with this team I mean you know like nicoa yic and Draymond Green second round picks right those come in and make really good impacts Manu job as well another guy super deep in the draft what a guy what a player made a huge even like mid round picks like Donovan Mitchell was a mid- round pick um you know was ay sure was down there too Jimmy Butler last pick of the first round like you have a ton of guys that that really about drafting well you know exactly Drafting and developing well you know because you see Sacramento waste draft picks wither draft picks same thing with New York you know the amount of talent that goes to those teams with terrible development and become quote unquote busts which I don’t really think necessarily is on the player right it’s it’s also uh on the development staff of the team which we see fail players over and over again and that’s why yeah I mean look at look at the Mavs and they got of course they’ve got Luca and Kyrie with Derrik Lively I mean who would have thought that he would be arguably the top four player on that team right now so it’s like and then PJ Washington he comes to Dallas and he’s totally revamped his career and he was a pretty high draft pick too so yeah good point so always about what what you can do with your pick right it’s not necessarily the pick itself but really what are you doing with it like you said if there’s a player that falls that really has a high ceiling and you can pick up hey you take that player I always say I agree with you want best player available don’t get me wrong need is important but if you can get a guy that can make an impact whether it’s creating his own shot being a sixth man whatever it may be even if he’s not necessarily filling the direct need that you want he’s gonna you know fill other holes that’ll be able to kind of sh some of those other sides of things up too so I do always go with the best player available with Josh so what are some of the names that that you may be kind of seen doing some of the research and and you know things of that nature um just kind of few of the the potential feelers that you see that this magic team are looking at um first guy I want to talk about is uh McCain from Kentucky um you know the magic I believe their their first pick is the 18th pick so um you know him coming out of pretty pretty good system in Kentucky I think um Duke oh I’m sorry Duke good K blue same thing yeah Duke also a good college uh college ball syst I think uh you know he’ll be a guy that can can offer immediate impact to uh this magic Squad um another guy uh I believe his name is Trevor Shannon from uh Illinois um you know he’s a shooter he’s good yeah um you know I I think he can fit our system uh pretty instantaneously um you know not a lot of um obviously you know you you’ve got to adjust to the NBA system but uh I think he can he can offer some immediate impact to our Squad um uh Juan what what do you think about Trevor yeah you know that Illinois team was really fun to watch this year very gritty you know hard I mean you can compare them to the heat like at a college level the way they played football I mean we all know how Chicago basketball is I mean you see it all over the league all over the nation so I think if we got a player from you know that grit that type of atmosphere that team I think he’d be a really good addition depending you know we were talking about that best player available depending who else is is on that board too right Luka what are your thoughts who you what are some of the names that you’ve come across that that are potentially be some good fits no absolutely I definitely give jar McCain he honestly fits the M fits like a glove he’d be an Absolut perfect pickup for the magic he spreads the ball shoots shoots at a very very very high clip 41.4% from the three um on six attempts per game might I add so that he’s not like he’s not shooting anything he’s he he’s shooting that M and he you know 14 points per game in college he was really really really great um and he’s just guard that fits the uh the shooting know the only worry I would say is his defensive capabilities that’s neither here nor there we can figure something like that out obviously you got Jobe Walter from Baylor absolute bucket if you if you didn’t watch him in the tournament bro for real go look up those highlights right now that man is that man is an absolute cheater bro for real yeah that man is a dog so I would love to see him in the magic uniform um and I actually have like two more one of them being uh this one I don’t think will fall he’s right now at 15 since we’re were talking about uh centers shoot the ball siid Kyle Kowski I think he would honestly be a very very very sneaky pickup for that third Center that Juan mentioned earlier and like Josh said obviously he’s he’s size he 611 and he can stretch the floor he’s one of the most talented uh we’re seeing this build you know just just being recreated in these draft class these these centers that are very very skilled with the ball on their hands and um I mean obviously you know we we got some guys who haven’t been as successful we have guys who have been successful but that’s just the that’s just one of the things of the draft you never know I think K fasi can be good can be really good and one guy who like this was a little bit optimistic but I’m just looking at the teams that are before our pick I don’t see any of these teams picking him I I think this would be super crazy but Rob Dillingham right now he’s proed at 13 I know that sounds insane but the teams above are the Kings the Trailblazers the heat the the 76ers the Lakers I just feel like a lot those teams don’t need a guard like maybe the Lakers they could because depending on what happens with d loading this and this whole thing going on um the Kings I just don’t see them picking him because obviously you got dearon Fox you got Quin hoer you got Daven Mitchell uh Portland who knows what’s going on over there they got Anthony Simons and they just drafted scoot Henderson so I just don’t the idea of them drafting a guard would absolutely blow my mind as a Trailblazers fan that makes absolutely no sense the heat do pick at 15 which I could honestly see possible but I just don’t think Rob dingham fits that heat to a basketball he’s just I just don’t see him as a nitty-gritty guy who’s gonna put that effort defensively simply I just don’t really see him you know doing anything like that obviously the 76ers got Tyrese Maxi they got a gem in him so then after that is the magic so I mean it would be very optimis it would be like very very very lucky to get Rob dingham at that will of a pick but I don’t think it’s crazy just looking at the teams that are drafting before them and especially the teams that are drafting up even above um above the Kings they also don’t need guards so it’d be crazy but that that’d be kind of wild Juan do you think he’s the best player that can fall to the magic or who do you think is potentially the best player that can fall to us and some of the names also that you came across yeah no I definitely agree with Luka if if Dillingham fell to the Magic Man I mean that’s the have to watch out that’ be scary yes yes and that’s without even getting the rest of the offseason going with whatever other Acquisitions they get so if Dillingham fell at 18 we got ourselves a steal but you know we’ll keep it you know around the 18th overall kind of pick players that should be there and then you got uh khil we from Indiana I like him a lot he’s kind of that uh that stretch uh you know interior Defender kind of Rim protecting kind of guy he was compared to Jared Allen and LaMarcus a so if that gives you kind of an idea he’s a seven-footer I was looking I believe Mo Wagner is our tallest player and I think he’s 611 so I mean they need a seven-footer on that roster that’s no secret uh Luca you took uh my boy Kyle filipowski from duke I I love his game man I watch him and I’m like he’s just a better version of Grady dick from last year’s uh draft he does everything the same he stretches the floor um I mean he he went off last season at least for that for that Duke team 16 and a half points eight rebounds and you know he was almost shooting 40% from three so at 611 right right so you got khil wear Philip psky Jared McCain as well um I do like Isaiah Collier I know he didn’t have the year that everyone was thinking but he’s the guard from over at USC uh arguably he was considered a top three five big in in coming out of high school so I think that you know they’re kind of you know over playing overstating you know his downplay over at USC but as a prospect I don’t I would not hesitate on taking Coler based on who else is on the board but I like his upside I like his potential and uh yeah yeah those are a lot of the names that I really like so far absolutely like you said there’s there’s a plethora of talent out here this isn’t the most talented draft right we’re going to be honest right this isn’t the draft that’s that’s the most stacked and the most you know deep when it comes to what’s coming out of it but there’s a lot of holes that can be plugged right a lot of really high LEL role players that can come in right or even guys that could potentially you know fill and grow into you know being STS a lot of times even with the drafts like last year scoot Henderson was supposed to be this great guy and you know was it Brandon Miller um on the on the Hornets you know someone else that was supposed to be phenomenal had some great games don’t get me wrong but you know what I mean so it’s like those guys sometimes those great drafts don’t pan out and sometimes it’s the ones like these where you find those hidden Gems we’ll get into final predictions right here with who do you think the magic actually end up taking Juan I’ll swing it right back up to you and we’ll go around that way again give me your final prediction Who falls to the magic who do we end up taking uh yeah go ahead with that yeah you know I’ve seen so many Magic drafts where we we end up picking right in the middle right around where where we are picking this year at 18 and you know if I had to if I was a betting man and I had to put my money on this I would probably go with filipowski just because I think he’s the most realistic to be there 18 and he just seems like a guy that Orlando would just love to pick you know they like these big uh you know like Jonathan Isaac type players they got these long Wings spans they got the height and they got the potential to grow even more and then of course you know he can knock down the three he can build his size and his frame even more so I think he’s the perfect uh Prospect at 18 if you know everyone else isn’t there no no I agree because I mean if you really think about it if Jonathan Isaac’s lived up to his true potential we wouldn’t really need to Center because this is a guy that at his best can you know protect the rim shoot threes you know do really a little bit of everything but he’s also always kind of hurt and he also um you know he he’ll have his moments where defensively he’s lapsing right he’s not he’s not flowing within the Realms of his team and you don’t want to see that a seven-footer have those issues because they get played off the court when it comes to a playoff situation so um you know I think with him he didn’t necessarily pan out as you want but like you said Juan if you can find a player that is an ideal version of that that is something that I feel is a great fit because we see all the time when Jonathan Isaac is hitting this team looks really good right this team looks like FL it’s flowing really well and um and it makes it a lot easier for for everyone on their floor to know exactly what’s going on but you know when you have a gap at the at the top at the center position and at the bottom at the point guard position it’s almost like not having the buns for your sandwich right you have you know you got to get into to that side of things LCA final prediction who do you think the Orlando Magic end up taking this draft I mean I mean I’m not going to lie to you I I really really really want to sit here and say that they’re going to get Jared McCain I really do because I just he just fits so well and he’s projected literally one pick before uh before us but uh I’m just gonna be safe I’m gonna say they do end up getting jacobe walzer from Baylor um I honestly don’t think that’d be a horrible pick uh at all I I think jacobe walzer really fits fits like a glove too uh he’s very very very crafty guard um can get to his spot can create for himself and he can obviously shoot the three ball and um I I think I think he has the schematics and has the bill to be a very very very good in in this league you know 65 197 he’s got some length on him as well he only shot 34% from the three-pointer last year at Baylor but um you know it’s a whole different game and now he’s gonna be in a system to where you know he’s gonna be getting those looks he’s gonna get fed the ball from PA banero he’s gonna be get get fed the ball by fron Wagner and those are two players who are already going to take a lot of attention off of him and I think that um just his play style is just a lot better suited to making that jump in the NBA sooner if that makes sense I love how you mentioned scoot Henderson earlier because they really you you notice in the NBA it’s very very very tough for guards to make that jump their first year unless they’re guards like Trey Young Who even though he strugg like he was pretty good in his first year um despite his team not being as successful but he was still very good in his first year he’s led the league and assist since he has entered the league there’s not a single player in the NBA with more assist since Trey young since he got drafted so I think that just says that just says it all about you know what the impact he’s done for that for Atlanta um but yeah it’s just it’s just very hard for guards who primarily uh like succeed with the ball in their hands to make that jump and be successful so I think jacobe Walter will be a little bit of a better guy um but I think I think Jared McCain would be perfect I think he would be ideal um just just because he does shoot a little bit better and he is a true point guard whereas Jobe Walter is technically a shooting guard and I think it’ just be better to have someone handling them handling the ball uh with Jerry McCain because I mean not to this sugs or anything but I don’t really think we won another the season of him being the primary ball handler or secondary ball handler even though this year we saw a lot of Paulo mono and France doing it that responsibility would fall down to Subs again when he’s out of the game so I think having J McCain would be a little bit better but I think we’re gonna get Kobe Walter no definitely I think those just some really good points there um like you said if if he falls to the to that I mean you take him right because he’s just uh that’s that would be the ideal fit but Josh are you gonna agree with one of these guys do you have your own pick who do you think I’m gonna go with Luca’s second pick Jared McCain um I think you know he fits like said like a glove uh what 145 and two I mean uh great ball handler uh you know compliments compliments Paulo I mean he’s a guy that can can fit perfectly immediately um and I hope we get him honestly me too I won I won’t lie I think he I think he will go to LA because he’s from Cali bro he’s from he’s from California so I think he might I think he’s going to try to go return to his hometown he’s already proved to be marketable so they’ll love that they love that yeah no so it’s exciting that’s always fun about the draft season is you know with guys like myself who you know aren’t as knowledged with college ball I get to watch highlights and watch every single pick look like Michael Jordan so going into the draft season because you always get to see the best of these players and then you know watching some of them not really pan out is is always comedic but uh but yeah I think it’s always exciting because it just giv gives New Hope of what this team could potentially add right like with free agency you have to fight and and bid and out bid other players right with the draft really it’s about taking the player you get and becoming making them become the best version of themselves that can be fit within the realm of this team which we can we see that this Orlando Magic team although previously have struggling or have struggled to develop Talent the talent development as of late has been great I think a big part of that has been you know coach you know he’s been doing um Mosley has been carrying this young group when he comes to that side of things I would not be surprised you know if he wins coach of the year next year and gets the job done with that I know he was top three I believe this year um but I think he would he’s going to be uh regardless who they draft to put along that man he’s going to be a good leader uh next to them but I I do think um it’ll be a fun draft regardless I I think a lot of teams um have some potential talk to moves like you said the the Lakers have to make some moves and kind of switch things up the um you know Miami Heat have to switch things up potentially as well you’ll see um other teams as well that are a little bit in that you know limbo Zone try to make that move to allow themselves to get into actual playoffs so it’s going to be fun to see that but other than that guys we
