  1. As he should be. I understand not making it on the team, but he should 100% have been given a camp invite for try outs first.

  2. Disgusting. Cory Joseph has always shown up for Canada. I’d rather take him over Wiggins who has never shown a desire to represent our country.

  3. Bobby_Webster

man i would be pissed if i was him. was he not part of the core that gave a 3-year commitment?

sucks but we do have like a MILLION guards on the roster, he should have at least gotten a training camp invite at the minimum tho

  5. AssyrianRhapsody

He has been great for the program but he is competing with SGA, Murray, NAW, Mathurin, Nembhard and Sharpe for a guard spot (without even including arguable 2s like RJ, Brooks or Dort).

This is now a competitive program and we have to make hard decisions.

For everyone’s clarity – this is about getting an invite to the team camp. To give him a shot at a spot. If the team wants to be competitive – they need a veteran voice/mentor who’s played internationally.

Respectfully, he should have been given an opportunity to fill that role.

Tough cause we are loaded on guards. If he was a center he’d immediately be in the starting 5

But yeah he should’ve gotten an invite

  8. LastNightsHangover

Khem Birch was invited, just fyi.

This is a real shame, it’s a total mistake not to invite CoJo.

How big are olympic rosters? If it’s more than 12 it might be worth it to have him on the bench as a vet even if he doesn’t play.

  10. jjkiller26

The least you can do is invite him to camp and let him get a chance to win a spot.

Tossing aside the guys that showed up every year when other nba guys refused as soon as you get into the olympics is a bad look on the organization imo

Cory looked borderline unplayable against Argentina at the start of the World Cup qualification cycle. I get the service and everything but does he really expect to get a tryout for a team he was never going to make?

Canada has a loaded backcourt, SGA, Murray, Nembhard, NAW. Dort, Brooks, RJ can also all shift up to play the 2. Pangos honestly even after injury might still be more valuable than Cory. I appreciate that Cory showed up when no one else would but if you have 0% chance why waste the guys time?

  12. Team Canada doesn’t shine shoes anymore. The bar is higher and Rowan doesn’t have to beg players to play for their country or commit for 3 years.

I agree, he should have been given a try out but depth is at point guard is at an all time high.

I don’t blame him for feeling that way at all but at the same time I wanna win

I get all the, “give him a training camp spot” takes as a sign of respect but if he’s not even close to being considered, the resources are wasted on him and they aren’t unlimited.

Not just speaking on gear or gatorade either. There are only so many sets of eyes you can have on players, only so many hours, and only so many positions to fill in runs/drills/etc.

Sucks that he is missing out on something he helped grow but there’s an argument to be made that including him dilutes the process for more serious candidates.

Yeah, I always get nervous about last-minute dropouts until the guys are actually on the plane. It happens so often. If I was in charge of Team Canada, I’d have a full squad at camp with a few extra players just in case. What’s the harm of having CoJo there to run with the guys?

  16. larrylegend1990

Him and Tristan Thompson played for us even when the team was shambolic.

I think they should be given a tryout or an honorary spot (1 of them, not 2) on the team.

  17. ror_shahk

I rather be pissed at a pity invite like some of you are suggesting.

  18. Definite snub given he has played for the team many, many times

They should have definitely given him camp invite and even just keep him as a bench leader if you aren’t going to play him a lot
